What is the range and bandwidth of IEI RWR?

I read somewhere on old IMF that SAIRAN produced a batch of RWR's based on AN/ALR 67 (of F-14) and that it was X and ku Band specific and had a range of 220 km

Yes that the one. This does look like a very powerful RWR, if they deploy it on Kowsar or future local fighter jet, this will be one very useful feature of the overall combat suite.

I am kinda proud of the fact that our combat aviation is picking up ... much much slower than Missiles, UCAV's, Air defence or Navy though.

Wings and tail designs changed ?

If you convert a passenger fuselage into a cargo with a Ramp added and also change the engines I think most of the fuselage and wing structure have to be modified...loads recalculated and entire plane go through recertification....The Farsi text I read does mention "fuselage design".

you change anything and the plane had to go through recertification

You can finally see in these comparison pics, just how much of the rear section of the airframe has had to be redesigned in order to fit the rear loading ramp.

simorgh compared to an-140.jpg

Its a major redesign of around a third of the fuselage, plus the wing also looks to have been redesigned as well

After reading today's news papers it appears that Iran has extensive plans to use this airframe for:

1- A Maritime Patrol Aircraft version

2- An Early warning Flying Radar aircraft

3- A gunship aircraft version

4- Light military Transport version (6 tons max)

5- Civilian cargo version.

They can also turn the fuselage back into a short haul civilian passenger plane as it was intended 20 years ago with the new engines..!!

NO news about the engines...but I am sure we will see this program advanced very fast (6 months to one year mentioned for Flight and Certification process is mentioned)

.
Hybrid eVTOL
  • Function: Civilian aircraft. A Privately funded project (SAMAD Aerospace). 2, 4 and 6 seat Passenger carrier
  • Status: Prototype undergoing tests
  • Construction: Fully designed and built in Iran
Note: The test model is a 2 person version and has a hybrid electric/gas turbine engine.

Video is in english and provides more info

First I saw or even heard of this. Is there a Persian language news article where I can read about it (or even English)?

The only reason that the Iranian military and civil aviation industries are lagging is because the Iranian Defence Ministry: (a) fails to allocate a decent budget - you can't be a cheapskate and then count on developing an AL-31F counterpart and (b) having multiple projects running concurrently for Artesh and Sepah instead of having a joint R&D team tackling one.

That's not to mention the fact that a good amount of money is siphoned off and conveniently pocketed by corrupt bureaucrats. It's a big shame how corruption is eating the IRIAF and IRGC-AF alive.

I recall reading about the project last year..not sure where but check APARAT..website..the company investors/marketing are in the UK but design and tests are done by Iranians in Iran.
