Iran Withdraws Funding to Pakistan for Gas Pipeline Project

enough pakistan-iran fight for now :(

thats really the last thing we want , but see , when it comes to logical discussion ,

pakistan didnt act cool at all .

"However, we are committed and will make the IP gas pipeline," Abbasi said, adding that Iran was ready to supply the gas once the pipeline is completed. Iran has already invested $2 billion to build its part of the pipeline.

Pakistan, however, is finding it tough to find the funding for its part of the pipeline due to US sanctions against Iran which makes financiers and contractors wary of joining the project.

;) all time happy happy money is no problem

We need your gas not your country.

If Iran was unable to honor the deal, it shouldn't have offered the funding to begin with.

There will be alternative funding for IP. Or an alternative pipeline from Tajikistan ...plus we are signing a deal with Qatar.

Pakistan will find its energy supply with or without Iran.

We did not suggest to offer you any money at the beginning, after a while that we started to build our own part, and we saw that you are doing nothing, Iran agreed to fund your part. but Iran has found out that you are not serious about the project, specially after Nawaz has came in power. So, we are not idiots to spend our money, for a project that Mr. Nawaz will never let it to be done.

PS. go with Qataris, they may agree to give you free gas.

my dear sister , with all due respect , a lot of things have an impact on neighbors !!

even if nawaz gets a flue it effects the neighbors !! as an example we always were worried about us drone attacks on pakistan soil . but you dont care !! what should i say ?

brother. we have no direct issue with Israel still we hate it to death for its aggression against Iran.

We do care . when it comes to saving own house then Iran will work against Pakistan similarly we will do the same.

harsh choice but a fact

as you said , you dont have enough money to build your side of pipeline , so how could you pay for the gas ?

Iran will recieve Billions of dollars from sanction relief so something is fishy

it got nothing to do with us !!! its your side god dammit :D we HAVE BUILD our own !!!

so you want every thing free ? you want the pipeline built by iran so tomorrow you will also ask for free gas ? o_O

Some clown in Pakistan got his bribe long ago and left us holding the bag.

poor guy was the only one who cared about pakistan itself , not ksa or sth

We made it clear that due to the war our economy isn't doing good and we won't be able to pay for the pipeline outright but would have a 'payment settlement' with Iran through gas sales. Iran 'offered' to finance the entire pipeline to be repayed to sales.

We stopped searching for an investor as international agencies wont invest due to Iranian sanctions. Now we hear that Iran hsd refused to finance the pipeline just a day after it signed a deal with our enemy.

Pakistan is suffering an energy crisis, we have no choice othet than to continue with the project. Its our problem to find funding not Iran's. At worst the pipe is going to be delayed....

In the meanwhile we'll start buying gas from other sources instead.

true.....well pakistan is facing a few problems ryt now...so yeah we cant blame them...m sure this deal b/w pakistan and iran will be revived as soon as all the problems are taken care of..

by the way....wat the hell r u doin in syria ???!!! :o:

;) we aint breaking it

:o::o::o::o::o::o:
Anyway, they are some time constraints in the project, in which violating them, legally makes Iran able to sue you.
Anyway, we are not seeking any trouble, but if pakistani side tends to break the deal, due to any reason(political or ...), or .... Iran's reaction may be different.

but then pakistan started blah blah about the gas price :cheesy: the price which was agreed upon before !

as i said it has nothing to do with us !!! its your side you should build it !!! if you dont have money to build the pipeline how could you pay the gas itself ?

and btw : india is your enemy not ours !!!

now thats the logical part of your comment !!

we simply dont have enough money to pay for the project anymore !!! we've already spent billions of dollars ! :agree:

and wat about pakistan guv.'s commitment to build the pipeline from their side ??...

It was made clear to Iran that Pakistan is unable to finance the pipe, so they offered to finance it only to back down yesterday with no apparent reason.

Now we will look for an alternative funding source, we have no choice other than to carry on with the pipe, due to our energy crisis. Iran knows it and is trying to make the most out of it....that however is a lesson for us, for the future.

We will be very careful in making any further engagement with Iran.

poor guy was the only one who cared about pakistan itself , not ksa or sth

Rich guy cared about himself, not Pakistan or KSA or Iran.

Pakistan should buy gas from Iran, Qatar, Turkmenistan -- whoever can offer the best deal. It's all business and any country shouldn't complain if we deal with another country. By the same token, if a deal is bad, it's bad, and shouldn't be pursued just for "brotherly love".

As for the pipeline itself, Iran should see it as an investment to build a pipeline all the way to China, because there's a HUGE customer at the other end. But we won't tell Iran what to do. Iran is old enough to do its own thinking.

Well then forget about it.....:lol::lol:
what option Iran has if pakistan refuses to pay penalties?
they are some international courts that will decide about it and make the decisions. They are independent courts, and even in the deals which have a lot of money invested in them, they even usually mention that which courts are able to investigate the cases ;)

how about this: if you guys build and connect the pipeline to ours. we will have two separate lines for two countries.and every one will be happy.

Truly speaking, the gas was over priced by even 50%. So, what has happened has happened for better.:coffee:
