Iran Withdraws Funding to Pakistan for Gas Pipeline Project

The best option would be to connect a pipe FROM xinjiang directly into Pakistan bypassing Afghanistan. It will do the following.

1: Pakistan wont have to be worried about whats coming in Afghanistan just because our pipe is lying in Wakkan Corridor.

2: Pakistan would not have to listen to the US for TAPI.

3: Pakistan would refuse TAPI and India will have to extend it through Turkamanistan to Afghanistan to Iran into a submarine pipeline they are yet to build.

They are also considering a submatine pipeline from Qatar to be mated with the Iranian pipe.

4: Chinese and Pakistani Navy will end up in control of India's 'energy throat' from Gwadar...both oil AND gas.

:coffee:

That is a very good idea indeed.

It could be a new plug-in connection to our existing China-Turkmenistan and China-Kazakhstan pipelines. I believe they already travel fairly close to Pakistan to start with, from Central Asia to Xinjiang province.

Although the Tian Shan mountains may prove to be a formidable obstacle. And they are right in the way.

1) Pak Navy is a coast guard compared to the Indian Navy.Forget about fighting 250 km away from pak coast.

2)I doubt even China will station their naval patrol boats there. You know Malacca strait.;)

Aeronaut, don't you think such a deal is far too risky. Considering the politics of the Iran-America-Pakistan triangle, the situation could decay very quickly, leading to instability in the resource routes.

Maybe Pakistan would be better served by trying to find alternatives to gas. Pakistan has large coal reserves, and in any case it's very easy to buy coal from anywhere in the world.

Or something like the Three Gorges Dam, which could wipe out your energy shortage with a single project, while helping to control floods at the same time.

To be honest i have been a strong supporter of IP because i wish to see Pakistan diversifying its economic/diplomatic footprint.

IP is a project that can ease our energy crisis. It will give us time to build the strategic projects like the civil nuclear projects with China for upto 40 gigawatts of nuclear power in the next 2 decades, Thar coal, Shale extraction and so on.
In a post war economy we need a 'quick patch up' which is IP, for which we have to take the risk of sanctions...there is no other quick option for Pakistan .

We have intensified our domestic exploration and its having positive outcomes. Pakistan's energy future is secure with or without Iranian gas.

From the Gulf of Oman to the Hormoez...EVERYTHING on the water is within our firing range...TODAY.

We are building two Naval bases...the one at Gwadar is way larger than we need, plus the underwater hangers for subs.

You can't expell a few Chinese grunts in a tent and you boast about controlling the Malaka Straights...by defeating a Navy that has more Subs than you have Ships...epic..no?...

Your hardline Hindu groups are hurdle. They force Indian govts at will to break the deals and at the same time harm Pakistan's interests.

All the clauses will be there in the agreement and you can build enough storage facilities just in case of short time disruption .

It seems that you guys are very willing to support us in the possible future courts?:lol::lol::lol:

Why not? ... They have stood up for you everywhere else after all.

depends on who comes to power and if the next govt in India will be willing to anything like that.

There was some talk of buying electricity from India but again the same hitches

1)Live in fantasy. Your navy knows what it can do against the Indian navy. What firing? Have you any idea of the ramifications? Do not talk idiotic. In 1999, your navy dared not to move more than 12 km of your coast.

2)We have more than enough strength to block Malacca strait. And, don't talk about old Chinese junks.

Yes, and we also have one of the largest coal reserves on the planet. And the number 1 largest shale gas reserves on the planet, and the 3rd largest shale oil reserves on the planet. Even our regular oil deposits are fairly substantial.

There is also a wealth of potential hydroelectric power all over Asia. Not to mention wind power, which according to a recent study, could power all of Asia by 2030.

People used to look down on renewable energy sources in the past, because they were so inefficient and impractical. But the technology has advanced a lot, and is feasible even today.
