Iran Withdraws Funding to Pakistan for Gas Pipeline Project

well blind is one thing but you have visible hatred for Pakistan.

why you bharatis cant refrain from poking your nose here?

look at my other posts over here and tell me when did i talk about choking pakistans economic throat...and then talk...

. .
Yes, and we also have one of the largest coal reserves on the planet. And the number 1 largest shale gas reserves on the planet, and the 3rd largest shale oil reserves on the planet. Even our regular oil deposits are fairly substantial.

There is also a wealth of potential hydroelectric power all over Asia. Not to mention wind power, which according to a recent study, could power all of Asia by 2030.

People used to look down on renewable energy sources in the past, because they were so inefficient and impractical. But the technology has advanced a lot, and is feasible even today.

well i guess atomic power plants being build in pakistan with chinese help will surely take care of their power crisis and their dependency on other nations...all they need is to have some patience......by the way are chinese working on "run with the river" type dams???

.
1)Live in fantasy. Your navy knows what it can do against the Indian navy.

We know quite well. No stamp of approval is needed.

What firing?

Five AIP subs with a full Navy, two maritime attack squadrons, strategic radars, AEWCs and ELINT squadron, and a FULL territorial day/night coverage by our land based anti ship cruise missile batteries, plus the ability to use middle eastern bases for refuling = Sea denial.

Indian experts admit that they cant 'win' over such a sea denial apparatus.....now add Chinese navy to this.

Have you any idea of the ramifications?

Ramifications will be 'mutual'.

Do not talk idiotic. In 1999, your navy dared not to move more than 12 km of your coast.

Our subs were patrolling 'your' waters.

2)We have more than enough strength to block Malacca strait.

You can block but you cant 'hold'.

And, don't talk about old Chinese junks.

I'm pretty sure last sub to blow up was INS Sindhurakhshak ... And it wasn't chinese...now we know 'who' has the 'junk'.

hey...many chinese firms are working on power projects in india...pakistan has got huge coal deposits...which can make it a economic powerhouse in SA.....it shld be explored too isn it ?? then pakistan will not have to depend on other countries

Oh bhai thats all correct that Pakistan's mid term, long term, energy/economic future is secure.

What are we supposed to do with the 'short term' energy crisis...its shutting our industries one by one.. :hitwall:

We will just find a way to pay $500 million to the Iranians , even if it means opening Afghan opium export corridor for a while. :omghaha:

now add Chinese navy to this.
1) China is no mad to waste $70 billion(2013) and $100 billion(2018) for country like Pakistan.
2) China is no match to IN in IOR, believe it or not. They have their strength in SSC.

Ramifications will be 'mutual'.
Our subs were patrolling 'your' waters.

Indo-Pakistani war of 1999[edit]
Main articles: Atlantique Incident and Indo-Pakistani War of 1999
Although the Navy (Pak Navy)restricted from participating in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1999 (or the Kargil war), it came under much pressure to protect the civilian and military bases in Pakistan while performing non-combat missions in the coastal areas. The rapid Indian Navy's movement pushed the Navy to take active measures and responded by deploying the large formation of submarines to gather the intelligence movement on Indian naval activities and presence, however the Navy did not make any military engagement with the Indian Navy. In the post Indo-Pakistani war of 1999, the Navy became involved in a military engagement with the Indian Air Force when the local Pakistan media reported that the Navy had suffered serious casualty in non-combat missions in terms of losing aircraft and personnel, roughly occurred just two weeks since the end of Indo-Pakistani War of 1999 in Northern Pakistan. On 10 August 1999, theIndian Air Force's two MiG 21FL fired and shot down the reconnaissance navy plane, the Atlantic, with sixteen personnel, including four naval fighter pilots on board. All hands and the aircraft were lost when it was shot down in the border area of the Rann of Kutch region by Indian Air Force, with both countries claiming the aircraft to be in their respective airspace.

The international observers noted that the wreckage fell well within Pakistan's territory, giving credence to the Pakistan's claim. But the investigation conducted by the Naval Intelligencerevealed that the crash site was spread over 2 km on both sides of the border and the majority of the wreckage was on the Indian side. The Indian government released the bodies of all the 16 personnel killed in the crash, asserting their point that the aircraft crashed in India.[citation needed] The Indian Air Force stated that "the Atlantique was trying to return to Pakistan's airspace after intruding more than 10 nautical miles (19 km) and as such was headed towards Pakistan....". This incident resulted in escalated tensions between the twoneighbouring countries.[32]

In October 1999, another mishap claimed the loss of Navy's ASW aircraft crashed while on routine exercise towards the coastal town of Pasni in Baluchistan Province.[33] In this non-combat mission, the casualties stood with twenty one personnel, including two navy fighter pilots, eleven sailors and ten senior officers died in the incident. The incident was marked as a technical failure. The P3C Orion was originally developed for the US by Lockheed Martin.[34]( Wikipedia):omghaha:

@Truth Finder

You were the one talking about Malaka Straight, bla bla. Chinese will be capable of shutting your oil/gas supply if needed while keeping its own open through Pakistan once Gwadar is operational.

Now back to topic.!!!

.
Well Lets be very clear about the "funding" the pipeline part and who was interested more, and who's need it was. The Answer is Iran, NOT Pakistan.

Iran was in a situation where even India backed off from making any commitment due to sanction.

No one was ready to have such a project with Iran ; it was only Pakistan who faced all the immense pressure from US viz a viz this gas pipeline.

We did NOT succumbed to pressure. It was Iran who needed such a project for its macho-standing up kinda image hence Iran promised funding to build Pakistan part of the pipeline.

Now when Iran has a short term deal with US, it is playing safe to save the deal atleast for 6 months ;) NOT bad.

Once US take some harsh step Iran will resume its other priorities.

For the time being we have to find out other ways of starting work on it.

I wonder why pakistan agree to face pressure whenever there are free guddies.

aero....building/initial cost of a thermal based(coal) power plant is less and it takes less time to be constructed...can be easily handled by the state guv....simple technology....no need to depend on foreign countries for anything....and pakistan has got more than enough coal deposits...and rivers for steam generation....coal will definitely take care of pakistan's short term energy crisis.....india is ready to supply electricity till ur atomic powerplants are ready...so its better to think about betterment of the nation...not about enmity.......only the right direction is needed that's all :-)

1) You started with holding India's "energy throat" at Gwadar. I just answered. Don't lie.

2) No logic. Only in your fantasy. They have their strength in SSC, and we have in IOR(Indian Ocean Region).

3) Not financially viable. Chinese trade will collapse if they go through Pakistan. And, Forget Myanmar's oil and gas? India has also alternatives, but that won't be needed.

You are dead right ... This new development with Iran will only fasten the thar exploration.

We are about to sign a deal with China and Australia after the project is included in the 'top' priority list. Even Indian companies are interested.

Engro seeks Thar coal inclusion in priority list - thenews.com.pk

Thar coal: SECMC, Chinese firm sign MoU - DAWN.COM

Iranan refusal is a blessing in disguise for domestic options which otherwise were on the back burner.

.....

Globally, the percentage of energy production
through coal out of the total energy mix is
approximately 46%; however, for Pakistan, this
stands at a massive low of 0.1%,

.
I predicted this 2 years ago for one thing it is not just a matter of money other things are at stake like who in their right minds is going to insure the IPI pipeline? it has no backing! unlike TAPI

.
Pakistan must exploit its huge Thar Coal for Power generation both with coal itself as well as through the Coal Gasification project. Why use Foreign Gas when we have in house Resource. when we exploit our own resources , it will generate local jobs and boost local Economy instead of spending our hard earned Foreign Reserves.

Sarkaar hum tou bol bol kai thak gai hain lekin koi sunta hi nahi ..... Do you know of any Pakistani company which has the technology needed to mine reko diq ???

now is the right time for pakistan to start thar exploration......and with thar becoming an energy production center...there will be enough facilities like roads, electircity ,water etc etc...hence an attractive destination for industries....and with the abundance of sand in thar..and with the help of other facilities...silicon industries can be established in thar...it will create a boom and will become the silicon valley of pakistan...

..and not to forget pakistan has other extensive energy resources too including fairly sizable natural gas reserves, petroleum oil reserves and large hydropower potential. Imagine if all these resources are explored

and with the success of gwadar.....aas paas wale sab line pe aa hi jaenge ;)

Hi every body,
I can tell you it is not about money and it has never been about money, but the Pakistani government is against it. Maybe you can't believe it my Pakistani brothers but better to know that even in the case we pay for Pakistan sector infrastructure it is also acceptable both economically and politically for Iran but the Pakistani government is delaying the project for a long time now.
All this aside, the infrastructure is ready at the Pakistan border and if someday they concluded to boost relations we are always ready with open hands.
