Khamenei is not a saddam Hussein/kim jong il like total dictator...

he absolutely does get his power from balancing various forces in the country against each other... infact if 15-20~ years ago you would have said that someone like Rafsanjani was probably the most powerful man in iran.... you would not be shocking many Iranians...

by this time khamanei has consolidated his power and is the undisputed#1 guy....... but the system he has developed lacks the decisiveness needed to get things done (that are not a personal priority to him/immediate circle)

iran advances in missiles because its the IRGC\s baby. a lot of other projects/acquisitions lag behind partly as a result of this indecisisive chain

Looks like compared to Iran, Pak and Turkey are in a better shape in military industrial fields!!! They had Tomcats, Cobras etc. when others could only dream!!! And, they had thousands of students studying engineering at the top US schools, and many of them are in top positions at the US companies and universities now. It could've been different...

Where did iran ever "beg" the west for anything,much less over the nuclear issue?.The west for almost a decade demanded that iran totally dismantle and destroy its entire indigenous nuclear program and exerted enormous pressure to do just that which iran successfully resisted at great cost economically,it was only when the west backed down and was willing to acknowledge not only irans nuclear rights in theory but in fact that any negotiations became possible.
Also I find it hilarious that pakistan despite being a nuclear power still allows american drones to operate freely in its airspace murdering its citizens at will,but then thats the difference between a truly independent nation and a vassal state,but hey enjoy your delusions as you seem to have so many where pakistan and iran are concerned.

Nuclear negotiation by Iran started when American president Obama sent a letter to Iran in 2010 which in he recognized Iran nuclear right under international law and demanded new round of negotiation based on mutual respect ... this new policy of American in comparison by their policy at beginning of the negotiations in 2003~2005 which was zero enrichment in Iran beside not willing to negotiate with Iran directly was 180 degree turn.
So they wanted to negotiate not us.

There is no money left ... our corrupted politicians are taking care of our money and invest it in western countries for their own and their own family ... so there is no money left to even paying Artesh(Army) and Sepah ( IRGC) personnel ...

past year , our government didn't pay 80% of Artesh(Army) budget till 9th month of year ... this year , Artesh even can't pay his personnel salary on the time and on agreed amount ....

Well in fairness the author is Tom Cooper who wrote the book on Iranian F-14s in the Iran-Iraq war and many other books especially on the IRIAF. Though I do admit this and other of his articles have surprised me, there are some very obvious errors. In the majority though, they are correct.
