TEHRAN- Car manufacturing in Iran rose 41 percent in the first month of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-April 20), compared to the same month last year, the ISNA news agency reported on Wednesday.

Iranian carmakers manufactured 58,023 vehicles in the first month of this year; while the figure was 41,150 in the first month of the previous year.

Car production in Iran rose over 53 percent in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, compared to its preceding year.

Iranian carmakers manufactured more than 1.13 million vehicles in the last calendar year.

The automobile industry, the biggest non-oil sector of the Iranian economy, constituting around 10 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), boomed over the decade ending in 2011 due to government support and the dearth of international competitors in the domestic market.

In 2011, Iran had the 11th largest car market in the world; the year new sanctions were introduced by the Europeans.

I think all Middle Eastern countries combined together dont produce half of what we produce per year.yet some clowns from the very region question our industrial capabilities.

Congrats just below us...

According to the data from the OSD, production of motor vehicles increased by 4 percent in 2014 over 2013 to reach 1,170 million, while exports took a 7 percent hike to hit 885,000 vehicles, generating a revenue of USD 22.8 billion.

Turkey’s auto production & exports to hit record levels in 2015
- Invest in Turkey

Its like you WANT Turks to come here and prove you wrong for the billionth time.
Thank God you are not into our black list:D

Your number is about the production of all motor vehicle types while our number is exclusively about the car production which is double the number of Turkey car production.also the current number doesnt indicate the current potential of the industry because we used to produce 1.7 milion cars per year back in good days.plus there is another new born Iranian brand car manufacturer that is going to reach 1 milion cars per year rate by 2025.they are going to start the production by 2016.

And also keep in mind that we are talking about indigenous brand car not some assembly made ones.after sanctions are removed IranKhodro and Pegout are going sign a 50/50 "joint venture" deal.

Such growth in demand is normal under sanctions and high import taxes (if the news are correct to begin with). Consumers' money get blown in the wind however for low quality cars. The Egyption local cars industry emerged with so much of the socialist governments' propaganda in the 1950s-1960s, before almost disappearing entirely after the economic openness in the 1970s. Most middle eastern manufacturing is still in its early stages of development. There are locally manufactured appliances in KSA, but I wouldn't really want to waste my money on them given the "below average" quality. A locally manufactured AC is about "one-fourth" the quality of the Korean and Japanese ones and naturally far less durable.
