INSAS Excalibur & MCIWS Ghatak Assault Rifles to Replace Indian Army's Standard Issue INSAS Rifles

. .
Got you !!!Absurd Lie Army Never Uses Such Weapons Which are Recovered from Militants they only use Standard Production Rifle Made by OFB Factories Which are Issued with Serial Numbers Army Keeps Record of Every Arms Issued. Why are you Speaking Lie after n Lie Just to Make your Point.

Small correction bro,Army do uses good condition arms recovered from militants sometimes, especially machine guns such as PKMs.

.
But nagaland police and special forces are using them ... do check it for your soucres.

Militant ....EEEEEEEEE no re:offpost:
That is not possible since the guns picked up from terrorists do not have serial number if they are picked up they are destroyed because they would be hard to track and a liabilty. if nagaland police wants guns they can easily get newer and better Aks simply by asking the government same as all the other states so that theory fall on its face.

Not without Serial Imprint on it.Because it is army standard Procedure, Guns are issued to soldiers in service with serial numbers and they have to Deposit them in Armory when they Leave Service Period.

Every small arm also Included in it they also have to Submit report if they Fired Any Firearm.Except one who are serving in Red area

I wanted to know when these inhouse trials are slated to end? After inhouse it goes to user trials.

Trials are expected to last for six to eight months - they began earlier this year.

What are the different type of short strokes available and what is being used?

The MCIWS uses a gas operated short stroke piston design (gas operated automation with single & automatic mode of fire) which is being used.

It is not preferred to be over adventurous and go into multi caliber barrels as a go to rifle for the military. Simple is usually the way to go.

IA's move to obtain a modular (subsuming multi-calibre into modular for simplicity) AR highlights its experiences of CT operations in Kashmir since multi-cals' could 'optimize' the infantry firearm kit depending on the situation since the same units may be tasked with varying assignments in different geographical settings.

Indeed modularity obviously also allows barrels of different lengths to be used thereby allowing soldiers to customize their rifles for environments ranging from close quarter battle to long range shooting in open terrain. At the moment long range shooting in say a desert like environment is mostly the preserve of snipers and 'designated marksmen' armed with rifles firing high power 7.62 mm rounds either of NATO or Eastern Bloc standard. Of course, 50 calibre rifles have also proliferated in recent times.

This need to an extent has grown out of the experiences of NATO 'special forces' operators in the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan wherein the standard 5.56 x 45 mm round was found to have inadequate 'stopping power' against determined insurgents in various scenarios. Equipped with carbine derivatives of NATO AR families which fire the 5.56 mm round optimized for accuracy at short ranges and full auto mode fire, these operators often found themselves at a disadvantage vis a vis insurgents firing heavier 7.62 x 39 mm AKM rounds (albeit not that accurately) from further away.

(This is somewhat counter to the dominant thinking of the past forty years wherein studies showed that maximum kill ratios were achieved through the use of a greater number of bullets in combat rather than accuracy at range or stopping power)

@Zarvan @jung41 Imported designs don't always fare as well as they are touted to under Indian conditions and product support from foreign sources can also be iffy. For instance, the Home Ministry's import of over 34000 Beretta MX4 storm sub-machine guns hasn't exactly panned out too well with numerous defects and corrosion marks being found in delivered batches leading to disquiet amongst Border Security Force troops issued with these weapons.

Chinese army does not use type 56 rifles anymore they use type 63 (7.62 mm) and QBZ 95 (5.8 bullpup version) as main stay of rifles, type 56 rifles have been phased out, they have been given to north east terrorists to create trouble in the region
