INSAS Excalibur & MCIWS Ghatak Assault Rifles to Replace Indian Army's Standard Issue INSAS Rifles

If so much time is wasted then let it be one year also...
Only if it was that easy, one or two year to get the facility setup not to mention the amount of time it would take to get the proper licences and safety in place to make sure there is no illegal sale of guns. The parent company would not just have to get India's approval to manufacure guns in India but also the approval of their respective government which again if you consider the red tape would take a year or two. So the best option would still be to get the local gun and possible slowly outsource the manufacturing of parts to private companies.

Not really, it is not exactly rocket science. The advantage private companies would have is to use foreign expertise without limitations. Bharat Forge have wanted to get into manufacturing small arms. They certainly don't lack the technical ability to do it.
Bharat forge literally bought out the company and moved an entire factory if I am not wrong. Now whether they can do the same with a small arm manufacturer is yet to be seen since I don't see any country not company to sell license production of small arms to a private company, specially in India.

MCIWS's design is influenced by both the AR-15 and the FN FNC. The barrel assembly appears to be based on the AK-47. The design would allow soldiers to configure it according to the needs of the missions by changing rifle barrels. The assault rifle is configured to fire in 5.56 NATO, 7.62×39 and in 6.8 Remington SPC. The MCIWS uses a gas operated short stroke piston design.

The rifle would use 30-round plastic-type magazines. It would also be ambidextrous features, such as the charging lever and magazine release.

The MCIWS would include an underbarrel grenade launcher to fire airburst-type grenades. Various sights can be mounted on the picatinny railing on the upper receiver.

It was first seen at the DEFEXPO 2014 exhibition. They are currently undergoing in-house small arms trials with three prototype rifles made for testing at ARDE.

I wanted to know when these inhouse trials are slated to end? After inhouse it goes to user trials. What are the different type of short strokes available and what is being used? It is not preferred to be over adventurous and go into multi caliber barrels as a go to rifle for the military. Simple is usually the way to go.

Got you !!!Absurd Lie Army Never Uses Such Weapons Which are Recovered from Militants they only use Standard Production Rifle Made by OFB Factories Which are Issued with Serial Numbers Army Keeps Record of Every Arms Issued. Why are you Speaking Lie after n Lie Just to Make your Point.

Not just the looks bro,the improved rifle had better metallurgy too.
Did it incoporated Automatic mode as well ?
Still its good decision to replace 1B1 with Excaliber with reduced wieght and barrel length, is bit better option.
