INSAS Excalibur & MCIWS Ghatak Assault Rifles to Replace Indian Army's Standard Issue INSAS Rifles

.
Yes I did and I still stand on what I said

As long as it satisfys army demands it's good enough for us

All the futuristic rifles that meant to replace current INSAS are failed to meet GSQR, and ultimately Indian Army scrapped it.
The Excalibur is already ,matured enough.
The only best option is start arming the CAPF soldier with Excalibur, and wait for MCIWS for trials, which best start by end of 2015 or 2016, and let him mature.

Procuring a foreign rifle for whole Armed forces is cost prohibitive and futile.

The JVPC is already undergoing in trials, and definitely it will be procured by Special Forces and CAPF in large number.

Let's hope they order JVPC in large numbers

Although it is not perfect, the MCIWS is light years ahead of the obsolete INSAS.

The army should just wait for the MCIWS. The Excalibur is a half #$$ed attempt at putting lipstick on a pig.

No ambi controls

Tiny Picctanny rail surface

The stock and grip are featureless hunks of plastic

You should give a tender and this Gun from DRDO should compete for the order against Gun from around the world than select one.

But the other guns like the SIG Sauer, Berreta ARX 160, BREN CZ and IWI Galils - all four of them failed to meet the minimum requirement, laid down by the Army!!And if this report is to be believed, then Excalibur had only 2 stoppages after 24000 rounds had been fired, which if you ask me,is quite good and on per with other rifles from around the world!!

Got you !!!Absurd Lie Army Never Uses Such Weapons Which are Recovered from Militants they only use Standard Production Rifle Made by OFB Factories Which are Issued with Serial Numbers Army Keeps Record of Every Arms Issued. Why are you Speaking Lie after n Lie Just to Make your Point.

True with only exception being the PKMs,dropped by the tangos in J&K. :)

janab what is thecurrent and proposed standard issue rifle of PA :pop:
Officially G3 is standard but unofficially there are wide range of Rifles to choose from depending upon Area, like on Easter Border Soldiers are Armed with G-3's , Western Border with Ak-47m,Type-56-ii,M-4 etc,While on LOC mix of Ak-47 variants and G3.

First the companies you are telling means you didn't had HK-417 and few other major Guns that raises serious question on the tender issued. Secondly it's impossible to believe not even a single Gun met your requirements something is not right.

(01) HK-417 isn't a multi-caliber assault rifle - instead it's a designated marksman rifle used specially by special forces all across the globe. IA's tender was limited to multi-cals' only.

(02) All of the participating rifles failed during trials in 2012 in the Rajasthan desert and high-altitude regions.

(03) This is not the first time that such thing has happened - Earlier Home Ministry's import of over 34000 Beretta MX4 storm sub-machine guns hasn't exactly panned out too well with numerous defects and corrosion marks being found in delivered batches leading to disquiet amongst Border Security Force troops issued with these weapons. Thus using indigenous assault rifles in the long run seems to be the only viable option - though imported ones will still be used by the special forces.

No it does not!!You know why??Cause the tender was only for multi caliber rifles and as far as I know,HK 417 isn't multi cal capable!!So I just do not seem to realize why you are bringing this model into the picture.Heck!!the H&K wasn't even participating in the competition!!

That's up to you and we are obliged to try and change your opinions. But the fact is,they all did fail the tests in different parameters at some point or the other.Otherwise, knowing the Army and their love for foreign maal and contemt for home made ones, they wouldn't have let this opportunity to go out of their hands.

A single gun was made to serve from Siachen to Thar to Meghalaya to Andaman and Nicobar, none of those gun have experience in facing an environment as such diverse as India, so a single was never the answer from the very start of it.

But same specimen of INSAS 1B1 has to remain operational at all of those places with minimal modifications and maintenance possible. And there in lies the real strength of the 1B1 along with its long distance accuracy and ease of handling

So, OFB is the only hope for the time being, given their experience to dwell something like INSAS, but much improved.
