India's Special Forces Remain Underdeveloped and Underequipped

You have your big *** infantry to thank. There were about 5000 Pakistanis and around 30000 Indian soldiers. Either way Pakistan pulled out because of international pressure. Things could have been worse.

excuses excuses
Regardless of what you all want to believe, it will always be an Indian victory, deal with it.

Numerical disadvantage and you guys had LGBs. But still we managed to take so many of you with us to the afterlife. :)

What was the objective of Kargil Mission? Why did you not bring more soldiers? Did you send your soldiers to die for nothing? What did Kargil war achieved if not death of your soldiers and people?

Advantage of altitude doesn't matter when your jet fighters are involved with LGBs. If PAF got involved it would've been a different story.

Why didn't PAF get involved? What was stopping them? Were they scared?

It is well known that NS went crying to Bill Clinton asking him to pressurize Indians for a truce. If you want then I can show you the links

I hope these are Kevlar helmets because they look a lot like Shark Raw series of Helmets.

An apple in hand is 10 times better than 10 apples at the tree. Yeah our special forces are bit underrquipped by western standard. But they are able to.undertake any mission successfully in home & abroad. With almost negligible failure rates in real wartime operation they are the units we can bank on. Proud of our special forces. :police:

indian special forces don't really come to kill you, they come to cook you pizzas :)

OO Uncle they are para troopers and its was during training and they came down from Heli SOO might be U guys cooking pizzas with those gloves back at home. (They don't had to throw them away and use the Great Tavor Guns while it was just for Demonstration) ( Don't say it if you Do not know about it) Its all about knowledge!!! :taz:

First and foremost India needs a special forces command and under it all special forces be it army, navy, air force etc.
Then we need to reorganise special forces. We need to differentiate the regular parachute regiments from special forces regiments and take it a step further and create a unit on the lines of Special Air Service and Delta Force.
At the moment the army special forces have roughly the same capabilities as the Rangers of the US army.
We need an elite tier one special forces unit.

Not true.Sure, the Para SFs are behind compared to their US counterparts in terms of equipment (being addressed now) but same as Rangers!!Come on!!The Indian counterparts for the US Army Rangers would be the Ghataks ,although the Ghataks are more well trained in some spectrum of warfare.

you really think they can (or anybody can) shoot a gun with those gloves?

Ghataks can't be compared to US Army Rangers. Ghatak is only a platoon-strength unit, which every infantry battalion has. It's role is to act as spearhead of the battalion.

That is just one single aspect among many others of their intended operational roles!!They are termed as special operations capable - similar to the US Army rangers.

victory is never measured by losses it is measured by gains :) wish ur PAF was involved too so they could try to get some gains.....but.....they knew it wont have affected much the battle:laughcry:

you are underestimating rangers.. they have the same equipment the green berets have, and also have similar training. only difference is green beret operates in small group and are more trained in FID, while rangers are special forces used for clearing the way for infantry by their superior commando skill.

The Green Berets practice "unconventional warfare" in its many forms, according to the group's Web site. The Green Berets are organized into elite commando units, each consisting of 12 members, which conduct stealth raids and ambushes. In addition to direct combat, Green Berets are trained for guerrilla war, sabotage, and subversion. An aspiring Green Beret must serve about three years in the Army before applying. From there, he enters a two-yearlong "pipeline" before being assigned to an operational group. Every Green Beret must learn to speak a foreign language.

Army Rangers are light infantrymen that perform many of the same duties as the Green Berets--raids, ambushes, and airfield seizures "by land, by sea, or by air." Any 18-year-old male may apply to the Rangers when enlisting. The specialized training takes one and a half to two years. The first Ranger battalion was activated in Carrickfergus, Ireland, in 1942.

The elite and supersecret Delta Force handles counterterrorism assignments. Quartered in a remote section of Fort Bragg, the group culls the majority of its recruits--sometimes fewer than 50 per year--from the Rangers and the Green Berets. (An ex-member estimates their ranks at fewer than 1,200.) Founded during the Carter administration, the group participated in U.S. military exercises in Somalia, Panama, and Iraq. In 1980, the group was involved in the failed attempt to rescue American hostages from Iran. In 1993, Delta Force helped Colombian authorities flush drug kingpin Pablo Escobar out of hiding. The Federal Aviation Administration recently announced plans to deputize Delta Force members for in-flight protection on domestic airliners.
