India's Special Forces Remain Underdeveloped and Underequipped

you are underestimating rangers.. they have the same equipment the green berets have, and also have similar training. only difference is green beret operates in small group and are more trained in FID, while rangers are special forces used for clearing the way for infantry by their superior commando skill.

The Difference Between Rangers and Special Forces | SOFREP

Equipment - yes.Training - Hell NO!!Practically the entire infantry of the US Army and Marines are extremely well equipped, almost equivalent to that of their Deltas. In an article I had been reading the other day, they had estimated that US Government has spent spent more than 16k USD for a single soldier or marine!!Can you believe that??No wonder even their regulars and as an extension, the Rangers and Force Reckon chaps are equipped better than most SFs in the world. But training - no sir,the Rangers come no where near the Berets or Deltas in terms of training. The difference between the probationary period of their training should be a proof enough.

The Green Berets practice "unconventional warfare" in its many forms, according to the group's Web site. The Green Berets are organized into elite commando units, each consisting of 12 members, which conduct stealth raids and ambushes. In addition to direct combat, Green Berets are trained for guerrilla war, sabotage, and subversion. An aspiring Green Beret must serve about three years in the Army before applying. From there, he enters a two-yearlong "pipeline" before being assigned to an operational group. Every Green Beret must learn to speak a foreign language.

Army Rangers are light infantrymen that perform many of the same duties as the Green Berets--raids, ambushes, and airfield seizures "by land, by sea, or by air." Any 18-year-old male may apply to the Rangers when enlisting. The specialized training takes one and a half to two years. The first Ranger battalion was activated in Carrickfergus, Ireland, in 1942.

BTW, i didn't mean that our SF is similar of rangers in training or ability but in employment of our SF by our army generals is similar to rangers. ... but i would say that our SF are not up to the Green Berets in training, equipment and employment..
