Actually I knew about it for along time, but this this the first time I am hearing it officaly.Many of room mates in UAE who are Muslims were openly against building such a huge mosque.

Approval is a not issue. It is beneficial for the north Kerala since there will be public structures like college, hospitals and all included in the project.

Thats what I was saying. There are a million better ways to spend the 12 billion rupees collected(which would actually benefit the community) rather than trying to build India's Largest Mosque which will bring nothing more than publicity.

The biggest mosque in south Asia is in Bhopal India with a capacity of about 175k to 200k worshippers.

So this will NOT be the biggest mosque in India in any case. However, it might refer to the built up area in square meters and maybe that would make it the biggest as the Tajul Masajid in Bhopal is basically in a style of the Jama Masjid in Delhi with a open air layout.

The medical, engineering colleges will be open for admission to all faiths and not just muslims. So it will benefit the entire community in Kerela. Similarly the employment opportunities will be shared by all Keralites. The article also specifically mentions providing education opportunities to poor muslims as well so this is another example where you see muslims not depending on govt. handouts and helping out the poor.

This is another example of how Indian muslims are contributing to the Indian economy and society as well.

Will this shools n colleges in this mosque teach ONLY Quran and some 15th century stories and be another madrassah or some real scientific studies ,engineering and some logic ???

From my personal experience I observed that the Educational institutions set up in Kerala in the name of minorities (Muslim/Christian) are hardly charitable even to their own communities. They are just after money. Pure & Simple. They just use the minority card to scare off govt intervention in the admission procedures of the college.
