Indian Tejas jet's success leaves Western arms contractors worried

All the chest thumper Pakistanis here are feeling a burn as SL rejected to buy Pakistan assembled JF17 and looking for Tejas. Before you jump your guns for proof here it is :

Sri Lanka had recently rejected Pakistan's JF-17 aircraft built with Chinese help, while Egypt had last year signed a contract for 24 French-made Rafale fighter jets.

Two things that go in favour of the Tejas are its lower cost and flying ability.

London: Leading defence and aeronautical firms of the West are reportedly worried over the success of the Tejas Trainer Jet, especially as India is expected to bag the first contracts for the trainer jet from Sri Lanka and Egypt.

The Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) is a supersonic, single-seat, single-engine multirole light fighter aircraft, which has been under development for the past three decades.

It has been co-developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in cooperation with the Bengaluru-based Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) is reportedly looking to procure 18 to 24 new fighter aircraft to replace its obsolete fleet of Chinese license-built MIG-21 by 2017, and had recently rejected Pakistan`s JF-17 aircraft built with Chinese help.

On the other hand, Egypt has also shown some interest in procuring the Tejas, though it had last year signed a contract to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets from France.

According to the web site www.dailymirror.lk, both Colombo and Cairo are said to be interested in purchasing the current version of the aircraft.

Either the Indians have moved to Mars or the rest of us live on a different planet.
Day and night LCA in your dreams. All you do is read about LCA and then says it's not good. I don't care about JF17, never read. Does not matter to me truly.

I don't remember seeing any Fighter competition where Gripen is offered,
and the buyer considers buying Tejas (or JF-17).

 Perfect.

I can't help but think a giant like LM isn't bothered by the Tejas at all. It'll get some orders, maybe a few locally... maybe, but without a strong support base, India's export prospects will be limited, especially when pitted against new or second hand F-16s or new F-35s and LM's massive international support infrastructure. Not to mention the bevy of nations that have their own upgrade programs, like Israel or Turkey.

SLAF will be quite crazy or drugged to buy some thing which is not even in production .Which is not even inducted by developing nation ,Which will have sources components from all over the world ,which is manufactured by organization which has the worst record in manufacturing jets ,Jet which was produced by their enemy who supported civil war in SL, Even for fighter which cant fight as a front line fighter and is there just to fill up numbers cheaply . Its better they continue fly KFIR from Israel as Israeli are very good in Aero space

remind me, what engine does this plane use  wonder how those folks will feel about exports cutting into their profits:what:

It is powered by GE F-404IN20 engine at the moment, but will eventually be powered by engine based on Kaveri tech.

Update yourself, the LCA is already in the production line. In June, the IAF will officially induct LCA in squardon service with 4 Aircraft.
