'Indian ships enter Bangladesh waters'

Who said anything about war? It's simply some private ships registered in India who trespassed into Bangladeshi waters. It happens all the time when the territorial waters are so hard to demarcate.

Seems like you guys are paranoid about India invading this and India invading that. We have other things to work on, thank you very much.

Good we are back on topic again.

Bangladesh should never preclude the war option. It will keep India on its toes and also help unite Bangladesh against a common foe. Bangladesh should at this point take a measured response and if Indian activity in the area continues threatening Bangladesh interests then Indian ships should be blown out of the water after sufficient warning.

Don't flatter yourself. If the BD navy goes gung-ho and starts firing on Indian ships, the response would be more than adequate. Remember, if it weren't for India, there wouldn't be a Bangladesh.

Don't worry BD will not make it too easy for India. It will be a slow, painful and demoralizing experience for India if they push this issue to far.

..... if it weren't for India, there wouldn't be a Bangladesh.

Aren't you indian flattering yourself? It actually is other way around. If it were not for creation of Bangladesh, existence of India would been in question.

Apart from that, indian intentions on Bangladesh independence are well documented. Self professed indian glory only for cheap indian consumption. One part of indian goal was successful for the time being I say but other part of indian goal was defeated since the 70's.

Ships (private or not) hired for GOI sponsored project of oil/gas exploration. And you would expect anyone in sane mind to treat indian action as friendly gesture? Thinking others naïve is the second mistake Indians have made. First indian mistake offcouse intruding into Bangladeshi water.

India has been given details of Bangladeshi territory so any excuse on demarcation is just bogus. From chronology of indian occupation of Bangladeshi land and island, one can only point to hegemonic and evil indian intention.

One step forward and two sidewards, India dont seems to have any major problem with bangladesh, then why a isssued being only for a tresspased private vessel, which can be a simple navigational error.

Well, here is the price for your liberation in '71. If you had stayed East Pakistan we would have protected it but nw, you are independent and I don't feel sorry for you...

They would have enjoyed nuclear protection, but alas they lost it.

by becoming detached from Pakistan they were seen as traitors who sided with India during 71, but we cannot let this come between Muslim brotherhood.

just like when they "accidentally" fired bullets towards Bengali positions last year?

Also if there was no Pakistan then there also would be no Bangladesh. Don't flatter yourself by your comments.

The truth is, India can invade Bangladesh and win; however, the victory will come at a heavy price. Bangladeshi foot soldiers are trained from the 1971 notion, where every bullet should be shot as if it's the last. On top of that Muslim Bengalis, especially the religious extremists, will never let a Hindu army take over Muslim Bengal without a bloody fight that could degrade India's army by one-third. Bangladeshi Muslim soldiers will fight to the death to defend Bangladesh.

Nobody, not India or Bangladesh, wants war but exploring on Bangladesh's waters is red flag on Bangladesh's sovereignty. Myanmar did the same thing earlier this year by exploring on Bangladesh's waters on the Chittagong's side; Bangladesh's military did not hesitate to sent out the Navy. Bangladeshi soldiers are ready to kill anyone that attacks the sovereignty of Bangladesh.

Brother what ever happened in 1971 was a matter of lack of unity that's why we muslims brought misery back then. There was greed amongst politicians like bhutto, mujeeb and some others. We failed in 1971 on political, diplomatic, military and media level . On top of this indians just exploited the situation, that's what happens always look in history of muslims. What happend to mughul empire, muslim spain, Usthmani Caliphate in istanbul. A lesson that when we don't give justice and fail to remain united then misery befalls muslims.

Thankfully situation in pakistan is not like 1971 currently and nor will it ever be no matter how much RAW plans to implement the same "Chanakya Strategy" it did before. Our public is much more aware, the few rebels are now gradually being eliminated.

Nuclear technology agreement with bangladesh ?..Well i have news for you who don't now that we are already working with our bangla brothers on this subject ! I will post a link in my next post.

Pakistan Offers To Share Nuclear Technology With Bangladesh
Last Updated: 20-05-2008 15:07:29 IST

Bangladesh has been offered help from Pakistan for the proposed first nuclear reactor of Bangladesh, which was conceived when it was a single country but never actually took off. Alamgir Babar, Pakistan's High Commissioner to Bangladesh said on Monday that his country was ready to share the technology for civilian purposes to help tackle the great energy crisis that Bangladesh faces.

The Foreign Adviser Iftekhar A. Chowdhury has already discussed nuclear energy co-operation with Russia and China. This happened, after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently cleared Bangladesh to use nuclear power for civilian use. The Russians also showed their willingness to help Bangladesh during Chowdhury's last month visit to Moscow.

Babar said that they (Pakistan) have a programme for nuclear energy already in place. They are going ahead with it, so it is now upto Bangladesh to decide what they actually want. He added that discussions over the matter could take place within the parameters of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It is to be noted that Pakistan is not a part of the NPT, while Bangladesh is a signatory.

The bid to strike a civilian nuclear technology agreement has been rejected by the US. China, who is the traditional ally of Pakistan has also not obliged, being governed by the IAEA and the 45-member Nuclear Suppliers' Group Bangladesh too has sought help from China. The project was conceived during the Ayub Khan era in the year 1961 to be located at Rooppur in Northern Bangladesh' Pabna district.

Many countries including the Britain and the United States, France and Canada had earlier shown interest in the project when Bangladesh was part of Pakistan. And after the independence of Bangladesh, India too seemed keen but the project however, somehow did not quite materialize.

Bangladesh seeks India's help to set up nuclear plant
Bangladesh has sought India's help for setting up a 600 MW nuclear power plant to meet its growing energy needs.

"We have approached India for help to set up a nuclear power plant," said Hamid Khan, a senior scientist in the Atomic Energy Centre run by the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC).

The Bangladesh government had earlier approached a European nation for supplying nuclear reactors but later chose India as it was "closer to home", he said.

"Talks are on at the government level," Khan said. The neighbouring country is facing a power shortfall of over 1,500 MW and hopes to meet the demand through alternative sources like atomic energy.

Bangladesh's reserves of gas and coal have been its primary source of energy, but officials say these will run out within a few decades if they are used at the current rate.

The BAEC hopes to generate at least 1,500 MW with nuclear plants it plans to build, Khan said.

Khan, who was here to attend a conference on "Accelerator and Low Level Radiation Safety", said Bangladesh was expecting to procure 600 MW light water reactors from India.

"We chose India as it is closer to Bangladesh, both culturally and geographically. We will have help at hand nearer than any European country," he said.

Bangladesh has a nuclear programme that mostly caters to the requirements of the medical sector.
