The patrol vessel was gifted to Maldives
Maldivian Coast Guard Ship (MCGS) Huravee successfully completed refit at the naval dockyard and it was handed over to its Commanding Officer Major Mohamed Jamshad, here on Thursday.

The MCGS Huravee was originally commissioned as INS Tillanchang, a Trinkat-class patrol vessel built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata in March 2001. Subsequently, it was gifted to Maldives by the Government of India in April 2006 to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations and work together to ensure the maritime safety of the Indian Ocean Region.

Equipment upgraded
The ship arrived in Visakhapatnam on July 12. Major repairs were undertaken to the ship’s hull, main propulsion and auxiliaries. A number of systems and equipment were upgraded to ensure better performance. All equipment were put through extensive harbour and sea trials so as to achieve the full combat capability of the ship and ensure its continuous availability to the Maldives Coast Guard for the next operational cycle. Rear Admiral Amit Bose, Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard, addressed the gathering on the occasion

We have a pact with the 3 Indian Ocean countries: Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius for their collective and collaborative security.

So yes we do help them by giving away some useful equipment for them. Anyway, these countries suffer from the threat of piracy and coup in terms of human threats. It is not like someone would invade them anyway.

that is what major naval powers do. Surely you should know that. I can forgive pakistanis for not knowing that because Pakistan's navy is the laughingstock of the world.
