Indian-made main battle tank Arjun will be equipped with Israeli Trophy act

Wont Arjun be too expensive then if they add Trophy APS, I mean it will further aggrevate the cost. I dont think trpohy is coming.

Well all estimates of the price of the Arjun Mk.II include the price of a high end APS so either the Trophy or the Iron Fist WILL be fitted (my bets on the Iron Fist).

I have done some research and I defeinelty think the IMI Iron Fist is more advanced and a more effective APS against a whole spectrum of threats from ATGMs to RPGs and I am glad this seems to be the Arjun Mk.II's preferred APS.

Could you please fill us in with that research.
Trophy is much more matured in terms of APS and is already integrated in Merkeva Mk-IV. Iron Fist is still not completely integrated in the Namer AIFV. Trophy however is presently incapable against Kinetic warheads but they are making a newer version called 'Trophy Light'. In it's present form, it can engage multiple targets from different directions, which I doubt if IF can.

Excellent! Trophy APS with Kanchan armor.. that's a deadly combination. :)

Trophy light is for APC and not for Tanks. As its a diet version it doesnt have all the features of Trophy. So your thinking is a bit wrong here.

Then if that is teh case then I will also prefer Iron fist theoritically, but Trophy is more battle proven. Anyway Trophy or Iron fist, both are good APS.

The IF, like Trophy, is fully integrated with the battle management system and provides 360 degree protection as well as the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously. The Iron Fist is the most advanced APS on the market.

Yes, I messed it up horribly, anyway thanks.

Still doesn't show anything that makes Iron Fist superior to Trophy. Trophy has been tested by the US along with 14 other systems and it came on top.

The Institute for Defense Analyses analyzed 15 active protection systems, including Trophy and Quick Kill, and found Trophy to be the top system. In March 2006, Pentagon testers at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren tested Trophy. An official involved with the tests told NBC that Trophy “worked in every case. The only anomaly was that in one test, the Trophy round hit the RPG’s tail instead of its head. But according to our test criteria, the system was 30 for 30.”

This system is ineffective against kinetic energy threats like the APFSDS rounds as well as laser guided missiles. HEAT seeking missiles which this system is effective against, are getting pretty old fashioned.

Unless the system can defeat laser guided and KE weapons/missiles, it is useless. Except, of course, for lucrative kickbacks. The arms wheeler dealers must be laughing all the way to the bank! Jeeez! :hitwall:

bad news guys... no aps on the mk2 . a crdve guy on the project told me

I'm sorry but this is nonsense- either he misunderstood the question or you misunderstood the reply. It is perhaps a confusion caused by the fact there is no APS on the Arjun Mk.II CURRENTLY as only around 1/2 of the 93 modifications were trailed and integrated on recent Mk.II trails but there is simply NO QUESTION the Mk.II will have APS.

AFAIK the Iron Fist didn't take part in these trails as the IF is relatively newer than the Trophy and has only very recently been declared operational and ready for active deeply, ent so it is highly unlikely the IF was in any fit state to take part in competitive trails way back in 2006.
