The Chief Organiser of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Altaf Khan, has strongly condemned the arrest and torture of youth by the Indian police in Shopian and Baramulla districts.
According to KMS, Muhammad Altaf Khan in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian police personnel barged into the houses in Shopian and ransacked household goods besides harassing the inmates. He deplored that hundreds of innocent youth were put behind the bars under fake cases.
He said that India could not suppress the ongoing liberation movement through use of such cheap tactics. He reiterated that the ongoing struggle for securing right to self-determination would continue till success.
Demanding unconditional release of all illegally detained youth, Altaf Khan asked India to read writing on the wall and come forward to resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute, once and for all.
Meanwhile, the JKPFL General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Parray in a statement in Srinagar, deplored that instead of putting an end to the custodial killings and rapes by troops and police personnel, the authorities had announced compensation for heinous crimes.
He said that the draconian laws in the occupied territory had provided a licence to the Indian forces to kill the people of Kashmir and disgrace the women. He also denounced the arrest spree in Shopian and Baramulla by the Indian police
