Indian Arihant a rip off Russian sub?

Is there any news about the nuclear reactor gone critical yet? I heard a lot of talk about the sub but no truth worthy news about the reactors.

The first sub's reactor has been installed and is critical..it has been in harbour trials for some time now

INS Arihant is an Akula class sub?

July 31, 2009, (Sawf News) - Outgoing Russian ambassador, Vyacheslav Trubnikov, says India's recently launched nuclear powered submarine – INS Arihant – is an Akula class submarine.

In an interview published in the Business Standard Trubinikov is quoted as saying:

"I watched the launch of India's first nuclear submarine at Vishakapatnam on July 26, and do you know about the design of this submarine? It is the Akula."

"So where was the Indian submarine designed and built?" he was asked.

"Here in India!" he responded.

Past analysis - based on the dimensions (112 m length, 10 m beam), displacement (6,000 tons) and reactor output (85 MWe) of Arihant – have led analysts to report that it is based on the Charlie II submarine that India leased from 1988-91.

However, graphics of the Arihant published in India Today and TOI show a similarity to the Akula. For example, the towed array on the aft sail is like that of a Akula.

The Arihant is reported to displace 6,000 tons which is assumed to be the submerged displacement. If it is the surfaced displacement it would match that of the Akula.

The heavier Akula uses a 190 MWe reactor which gives it a top submerged speed of 35 knots. The reported 24 knots top submerged speed of Arihant, could be attributed to its smaller reactor.

It is likely the ambassador was referring to the shape similarities rather than the hull design.

However, DRDO officials have practiced the art of subtle disinformation in the past so it is possible Arihant is heavier even more powerful than reported.

I am inclined to stick by my analysis earlier:

"Though the Arihant is based on the Charlie II class, it likely incorporates a lot of advancements in propulsion, noise suppression, command and control, communication and sonar that the Russians learnt since they built the Charlie II subs, as well as what the Indians learnt while building German HDW 209 1500 submarines – INS Shalki and INS Shankul - in the late eighties to early nineties.

Unofficial illustrations of the boat show elements of Akula design like the towed sonar at the aft. However, Arihant is unlikely to be based on the Akula II or the more modern Graney class Russian subs, as reported in some sections of the press, since these subs use a twin hull design and are therefore considerably heavier. Not surprisingly the Akula is powered by a 190 MW reactor."

copycats are teaching us hahahahaha

.
The reactor has been installed in the sub by now because it was stated that during the recent accident the sub was not in the dock and was undergoing sea trails so its clear that by now the reactor is there.
The arihant is not the copy of Charlie class. The technology used in it will be far more advanced. It resembles only is the size and not in tech. The major difference is arihant is 6000 tonne and Charlie is 4000 tonne which is far less than arihant. Arihant is a SSBN unlike Charlie is a cruise missile sub

Ah, the same story, denials, denials and more denials, you Indians are good at it.
First of, show us the evidence nuclear reactor is fitted in the sub!

Secondly, at least you accepted it is Charlie II in size. This is another way of you saying it is using the design of Charlie II, in that case it is not indigenous at all, but a Charlie II, simple fact.

Having better equipment argument is counter productive as well. You are going through upgrades on some of the Aircrafts India has, will they become "indigenous" after the re-fit?

If they can not, how this sub is indigenous?

Not to say, the reality of these new high tech instruments, they are all imported. :hitwall:

Says all about your capabilities. Why did you wasted over 25 years and billions in this project? Wouldn't you be better off buying state of the art nuclear submarines in the first place without years of delays and costs overruns?

What guarantee, this sub will work in the first place? considering what your departments did to other "indigenous" weapons, only Indian fools could be optimistic.

.
As a matter a fact. Arihant is a over kill for ragtag pakistani navy. If 4 terrorist could give your navy a thrashing, why need a Arihant? :P

Boosting is no good, wait for the facts to emerge from Mehran base attack, before opening your mouth. Who attacked the base.

Already, the Prime Minister have recommended one Martyr to be given "Nishan-e-Haider" the highest military award in Pakistan. We do not give this award too easily, until outstanding courage against the enemies is displayed. Secondly, you have absolutely no right to comment on our internal situation.

Would you agree if we Pakistanis start to say it was Indian RAW sponsored terror attack on Pakistan? Like you did in Mumbai, even when the attack was on going.

Don't change the subject, we are discussing your "indigenous" submarine, make it work first, before threatening Pakistan or anyone else.

Ya sure, After all the attack on Mehran base was "indigenous".

Lol dont even know the difference between a military base attack and a civilian one???? Besides last week ur Pasha was saying he has picked targets inside India. If you are so sure about RAW then why wait.....

How dare you say that, huh !!! ?
Didn't you know that everything in India is "indigenous" ?

^^^
let him bicker, at the end of the day we are getting a SSBN and second one is also on the verge of completion....It will be really an achievement if all arihant class and a couple of SSN will be ready by 2020....

i mean the rate at which the production of nuke subs is going on....its amazing, i mean at-least the arihant class will get ready by 2020...

India leased russian sub and studied it

relax ..nobody is going to show you anything..because nobody needs your certificate..tell you what....make one like the Arihant class submarine..and then talk.....

This is the funniest thread ever lol........ People who talk on public forums without knowing the difference between consultancy, helping and Rip-off.

Atleast ask your chinese brooothers who know the perfect meaning of RIP-OFF.

On one side I see, both Indian gov and Indians acknowledged Russian Assistance with Arihant, some obsessed pak citizens fighting here for a loosing war..
