Indian Air Force Su-30MKIs to Get Su-35 Engines After Modernization

Russian Sukhoi Su-30MKI operated by the Indian Air Force after modernization will get the AL-41F turbofan engines designed for 4++ generation aircraft currently being installed on the Su-35 fighters, United Engine Corporation CEO Alexander Artyuhov said Wednesday.

“Speaking of the modernization of the Su-30MKI aircraft in terms of the engine, we have developed the engine AL-41F1C, it is being installed on the Su-35. This engine is exhibited at our stand and can be used for the Su-30MKI,” Artyuhov said during press conference at Aero India 2017.

He added that the engine was significantly superior than its predecessors.

The Sukhoi Su-30MKI super-maneuverable fighter jet is a version of the Su-30MK developed for India by Russia’s Sukhoi Aviation Corporation. The Indian Air Force has a fleet of over 200 Russia-designed aircraft built under license by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The 11th edition of the Aero India exhibition will be held until 18 February. The expo is attended by over 750 companies from India and around the world.

Pakistani serviceability is maintained by China..God know what is what..!
France operates Rafale with around 50% availability,US navy operate with around 50% availability..Compare to those modern countries India is doing far better with around 60%..With this year spare license manufacturing MKI will be around 70-75%..

You have a valid point and I am sure IAF will chose the new Engine only 1. If it is best in its class (or) 2. The maintenance of the Engine is better than the previous one.
After all there is a reason why India has chosen an American Engine on LCA than a Russian Engine.

Buddy, dont tell any one it was not an engine problem, it was a software issue resolved. MKI has no more issues IAF is quite satisfied with SUkhois that is the reason we refused SU 35 which china just purchased to counter MKIs,

Pakistan does not have the facilities to repair and overhaul the RD-93 engines

If we get the engine and its built under licence , will we also be supplying them to the Su35 that Pakistan has in the future? @Zarvan

that will be fun. supplying Pakistan with F-16 parts and Su-35 parts too
