Indian Air Force - A National Embarrassment

Can anyone tell me why the IAF sent the Bison to confront the PAF fighters? This was a high alert high stakes situation and the supposed outcome of which was to boost Modi administration's chances in the upcoming elections. And, they banked on the Bison? When there was the great SU-30 MKI, MiG-29 UPG and newly upgraded Mirage-2000s???

I would appreciate it if someone can provide an in-sight.

Mig 21 is the only aircraft in the "Active" Indian inventory serving the role of an interceptor/Point defense.

So what roles do SU-30MKI and MiG-29 perform? Couldn't they be spared to do the task?

P.S.

Also, India on Thursday removed Air Marshal C Hari Kumar from the post of Western Air Command’s Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief.

SU-30 MKI and Mig 29's are air superiority fighters and are therefore not always the first line of defense. Mig 21 was not expected to go behind the enemy line chasing. Bad day for the Indian pilot, credits to the PAF.

As per IAF norms, a member of the force retires at three ages – 58, 60 or 62. The rule says that when an officer turns 58 or 60 and is not able to get a higher rank by the end of the month of his birthday, the officer will retire. According to 7th Pay Commission , an Air Marshal retires at the age of 60, following the aforementioned rule. Air Marshal Hari Kumar turned 60 years old in February, and as per the rule, he retired on 28 February, which was his due date of retirement.

What is - so far - the reading of IAF on "How PAF managed to suppress the Indian Air Defence"?

One would think that would be ascertained by the level of threat being encountered. Otherwise If what you say is the norm i.e. being most likely to be greeted by the Bison … Is that truly the best way to go about it?

It should be in the same line as how IAF managed to sneak into Pakistan undetected. Public on either sides would probably never know.

Mig 21's are more agile, nimble and swift when compared to the heavy fighters. They get airborne in quick successions. You are required to swarm around the enemy when detected and Mig 21's is all we got.

It can also be that the CAP was carried out by Mig 21's at the time of strike and your intelligence might have as well analysed it before the strike. Fingers crossed.

Mig 21 is a "Point Defense Fighter".

He Retired on the DUE DATE. Infact, the mood here in India is EXACT OPPOSITE, They can give medals and honours to IAF !

Did They ?

India attacked 80 KM and No Dog Fights.
PAF attacked and IMMEDIATELY IAF Responded. Our Mig 21 was CHASING you, Something PAF Failed to do in the First Place.

The reality is that the Pakistanis acted with honor and defended their land against unprovoked Indian aggression. Your airforce is top notch and India should not have miscalculated and not send a geriatric pilot to take on young, motivated and well trained PAF pilots. It ended badly for India and now Modi should tone it down.
