Russia's delay of stealth frigates mirror problems with Gorshkov deal

1. You have got your facts wrong as usual. In fact you are so busy trying to prove your point, which doesn't exist, that you have forgotten that it was the Soviet Union which was a friend of India. The strategic friendship with USSR helped us weather hostilities from both China and USA. When US sent in the nuclear powered USS Enterprise into Bay of Bengal in 1971 in support of Pakistan, it was the USSR which caused the American task force to withdraw by deploying a few nuclear subs to follow the Enterprise. Task Force 74 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2. Expecting Russia to fulfill the role of USSR is unrealistic as every one is aware that the Russian defense industry is in tatters with major industrial bases and factories going to countries now independant. The component and spares supply chain of USSR now disrupted. Moreover, the economic downturn has caused severe funding problems and large scale migration of skilled workforce.
3. The problems notwithstanding, India knows that Russia is a trustworthy friend. In Indian culture, we value our old friends even when they are passing through a bad phase.
4. Having said the above, however, India also needs to look after its security needs in an appropriate manner. That is what has made India look to the west to cover the areas which we are not able to meet with Russian assistance. India is simply looking after its national interests. It does not mean that we no longer value Russian friendship.
5. Your attempt to drive a wedge between long time friends is a non starter.

hi ,i am from wuhan like your imaginary" chinese girlfriend"

Friend i have a 'doubt' on you. Its your 2nd post where u used word imaginary chinese gf. If u remember u claimed that member 'EVE' aint chinese or even a girl. As if u knew who was 'Eve'. Are you sure u aint 'imaginary girl eve'? Anyway back to topic about friendship between russia and india. Russia clearly upset and no doubt about it. Russia dont want her bestfriend india turn towards america. Russia upset thinking what if MRCA deal wont win. Thats why russia doing its best to milk india through aircraft carrier, fridgets and some more will come in future like 'PAK-FA', BRAHM0S HYPERSONIC, etc etc. Their economy hit worse by economy slow down. They need money. It doesnt matter how money comes. Now lets talk about 'Russia and china's' friendship including Su-33 deal where russia demanded more money while refusing it. Do let us know apart from space venture what joint venture russia and china indulge together in??? Russia the master of china yet russia dont include china in major developments. What for? Even when russia and china both communist? (atleast russia is 50percent communist while china is total communist).

And by the way its india who always got help in 'WAR'. Example kargil war where our friend ISRAEL came to join us against enemys. When america sended nuclear aircraft carrier than our friend russia sended nuclear submarine to attack usa aircraft carrier. Infact when war between india and china start (in future) than check out whats benefits of being DEMOCRASY. Communists are isolated country specially in 'WARS'. Democratic countries work together when war starts. INDIA, AMERICA, UK, FRANCE, JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA etc etc. Hope u got the hint. China can never be democrasy because it will brake them. Their unity is in 'COMMUNIST'. The reason russia never became super power was that it aint fully democrasy (russia way ahead of china). Being democrasy is biggest benefit india got.

Well showing communist China flag doesnt make any sense they r frm China...... Ppl who r really from China origin by birth we must to talk with them...... okk baCk on the topic .....Russia hardly trust China than INDIA.....datsy they r in JV with in many projects ......Its not russian Gov who delaying the project ...Its a company who dealing with supplying frigates to Indian Navy......

MiG-29K fighters ready, but no carriers

Brand, spanking new MiG-29K fighters for the Indian Navy are ready for delivery after years in development, except there's one major problem -- the aircraft carrier they were meant to be deployed on the Gorshkov, is no where near ready.

As India and Russia continue negotiations for a final price on the Gorshkov, these jets will be based at Goa with no carrier to be deployed on.

The saga to fix a final price on the Gorshkov, a second hand carrier being refurbished for the Indian Navy, is now having a clear impact on the Navy's capabilities.

These MiG-29s are not designed to be deployed on its existing carrier the Viraat -- a 50-year-old ship which simply must be retired in the next three years. At that stage neither the Gorshkov nor the indigenously built aircraft carrier, being constructed in Cochin, will be ready.

Four years after they signed a 1.6 billion dollar contract with India for the Gorshkov and its planes, the Russians went back on their word, saying, "We underestimated the work needed" and have since upped their demand to a whopping 3 billion dollars.

For India, cancelling the deal is a no-win situation since we have already pumped in hundreds of millions of dollars into the deal.

As India and Russia try and close out the Gorshkov deal there is every possibility that by 2012, for the first time in more than 50 years, the Indian Navy will be without an operational aircraft carrier.

On the modernization of the aircraft carrier for Indian navy needs billions more. The problem that arose in the Russo-Indian relations because of the cost of upgrading the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov for the Navy of this country, can be resolved in mid-October. This, according to RIA Novosti, the head of Rostekhnologia "Chemezov. According to him, with the Indian side will be signed a supplementary agreement.

It clarifies the agency initially would cost to upgrade an aircraft carrier, which is part of the Indian Navy has received the name "Vikramaditya", estimated at 616 million dollars (according to other sources - about $ 800 million), and its planned transfer to the customer in 2008. However, in November 2008, Indian media reported that Moscow demanded to pay extra for this work is $ 2 billion, while Russia Russia argues that this amount is approximately half.
Now the parties are negotiating their final cost of the modernization of the ship, which is located in the enterprise "Sevmash. At the same time in February 2009, India laid the first aircraft carrier, which is scheduled to adopt by the end of 2014. The military also announced the intention to return to the fleet after repairs only standing on armed vessels of this class "Viraat, acquired from Britain in 1989.

Note that in August 2009 Audit Office of India (Comptroller and Auditor General, CAG) has criticized the deal with Russia to purchase the aircraft carrier "Vikramaditya," because, according to auditors, Delhi advantageous to develop and build its own aircraft carrier. This will cost the Indians 'much cheaper', and the life of the ship will be double that.
