India unveils military buildup plan against China

ISLAMABAD (February 19 2010): Taking the concept of a two front war with Pakistan and China a step further, India has launched an ambitious military buildup plan along the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, reports Indian media.

Indian response, spread over next five years, shall see raising of mountain infantry formations, building up IAF assets, deployment of anti-aircraft Akash missile batteries, besides deploying ballistic missiles capable of striking deep inside the Chinese hinterland.

Arunachal Pradesh, claimed by China as its territory, is witnessing enhanced Indian force levels where two specialised mountain infantry divisions and an artillery brigade are being raised and stationed by 2012. In addition two Sukhoi 30MKI squadrons have been placed each at Tezpur and Chabua in Assam.

Guarding these assets are eight Akash air defence squadrons, which shall be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh by 2015; the first one becoming operational by 2011. India is also planning to extend its missile coverage of China by deploying 3500 KM Agni-III and the under development 5000 KM Agni-V as soon as possible; Agni III reaching operational status by 2011-2012.

According to analysts Indian force goals now envision a hostile posture against China in the backdrop of a disputed 4057 KM long LAC; without thinning out deployment against Pakistan. To this end, its military budget has undergone a massive rise. According to Military Balance 2012, compiled by Institute of Strategic studies, India has boosted defence spending by 21 percent in 2009, making it one of the leading military spenders in the world.

Next.. do better spend on your people so they can become gold for your nation...thanks my nation is a non aggressive nation therefore its all our right to spend minimal on defense at the same time unlike you i don't play harmonica for my govt i know all the govts of my country that came wasted funds happy!?

Relax guys.....nothing is going to happen. Both (India and China) are busy with economic development.

If China considers AP as part of as its territory, so do India. India is behind in infrastructure as compared to China in the region. So India is just catching up. Nothing else.

But more importantly, not as an Indian but just a common man, I must inform you that what we talk defines our personality. It is always advisable to make sense and talk mature or we just make fool of ourself.

Had you been a little educated, you wouldn't have said what you wrote.

India's defence budget seems very high to you because your own budget is very low.

I can only laugh when on your comment, Look at India's GDP and then we are spending less than 3% of it. And look at your GDP and your defence spending is more than 3% of GDP still no where near to India.

It is like I am having 1000 bucks spending 10% and you are having 100 bucks spending even 99% won't even let you come close to me.... Who's a spoil brat?

I wish you had your maths lecture properly. I really don't know how can you become so crass. I have seen your decent and logical comment many times.


If you think Indians will think when you raise poverty issue, then you know it only makes Them feel that how frustrated you are, when you don't get anything else to defend, lets attack on the wounds of the enemy. When there would be war, I advise you keep on bragging about it..

Before you bring on the points related to Poverty and stuff, read some economics, I really don't know have you really ignored the subject, But if you knew you wouldn't have made crass comments.

Regarding India's Growth. I want everyone to see this Video.

I got personally affected by the recent terrorist attack in Pune. National security is the top most priority for any country. If our people will keep on dying in such stupid terrorist attacks, stupid jihadis, forget about poverty there won't be any India only.

On a personal note I request you please never defame some country and malign it on its short coming. It is not God works you are doing. And I think Pakistan is a country where God is the lender of last resort.

I would request Indian members also not to attack on country's poverty, hunger etc.
