India to buy 2 Mirage 2000 aircraft from France virtually free

Just to clarify, these two jets will act as replacement for the two which crashed after the deal for upgrade of 50 airframes was executed with France. Hence its a win win situation for both India & France.

We lost 2 trainers a few years ago, and these 2 jets will replace the lost jets.

And we have already paid for the upgrade of the 2 lost trainers, so France is transferring excess stocks so that we do not cancel the upgrades for 2 jets, which in turn can affect their own M-2000 upgrade program. Plus we want the 2 jets anyway. Quid pro quo, both countries benefit.

Regardless of whether France gives away the jets for free or makes us pay for them, we are buying more Rafales anyway. So there is no question of free lunch or rishwat or anything of the sort.

ahhaaha, don't have to explain so much. There is a Chinese saying, the more you try to explain ,the more suspicious it becomes.

if they're going to inspect the serviceability... i bet they're not new fuselage. most like from french stock or retired aircraft. extremely weird this. sounds like corruption tbh
That was exactly my first thought...corruption/kickbacks. I don't understand what value the IAF gets out of acquiring two Mirage 2000s if it's a purchase. If it's entirely free then obviously it makes sense.

Finally a valid and sane post.

Both these fighters would also be upgraded like the rest of the M2Ks. This is where France would make money.

India needed 2 trainer s crashed to be replaced .. may be for spares too after their flying life is over .
