almost every special forces around the world is trained by SAS.. and that won't make them the best. indian army is conducting annul training exercises with isreali SF, US special forces, russian SF, SAS, and many others... and you think that SL SF is better trained than indian SF?? indian army have much much more resources and better training facilitates than SL army....

if SL army is better than indian army then why did SL send its 80% of defense forces to be trained in india?? india have a wast range of training facilitates than SL military have and india is superior in all the Fields...

This is unheard of. Please provide some source. I have followed the war from A-Z but never stumble upon this. Please enlighten. However it is highly improbable of India to send it's troop to assist SL when they didn't supply SL with any offensive weapons.

Well SLA is excelled in rather unique way. SLA send it's men to train in India because India has better facilities to train soldiers in theoretical/general warfare. involvement of marcos in that operation was said by an ex-marcos, i don't have any news links for that... india never supply offensive weapons to any of its neighbors(officially).. during the IPKF time in SL india didn't supply any offensive weapons(AFAIK)

I haven't heard of such incident where LTTE raided SLN detachment in Delft and took the guns in 2007. Maybe the incident happened before 2000s. Even then I don't think Indian troops were fighting LTTE in SL. (after IPKF of course)

CIJW is considered to be the best unconventional warfare school in the world... many soldiers from US, European and other friendly countries came there for training.... srilankan soldiers get training on how to fight insurgency and jungle warfare in that school and you are saying that india is only providing general warfare?? srilanka is not a place in US to become a unique place for IA and indain army much experience in fighting in SL jungles.... the training standreds in CIJW are praised even by US army.

SF training with other countries will not be officially acknowledged all the time... indian SF get training from Isreal since early 80s even before india offically recognize Israel as a nation.. and india had denied this till 2008. the news about SFF-SG's training programs with isreal was reveled recently.... as you know that india's support to srilanka is a sensitive issue as the Tamil MPs always support LTTE..india never officially declared that they are helping srilanka during the time of SL-LTTE war.

if you want to know the truth then you must ask SL army SF solder about the srilankan SF cooperation with Indian counterpart..

Very fierce counter-attacks mounted and we are required to withdraw in Kasur area. COAS was somewhat uncertain of himself. I suggested to him that he should go in forward areas so that he will be in touch of realities. He said he would go next day.

In Line of Duty: A Soldier Remembers, Lt Gen Harbakhsh Singh reveals that not only did Gen Chowdhury play a very small role in the entire campaign, he was so nervous as to be on the verge of losing half of Punjab to Pakistan, including the city of Amritsar. Several infantry battalions, short on battle inoculation, deserted and Singh gives a hair-raising account – and confirmation of a long-debated rumor – that Chowdhury panicked so badly he ordered him to withdraw to a new defensive line behind the Beas, thereby conceding half of Punjab to Pakistan. Singh describes the conversation with Chowdhury at Ambala where he refused to carry out the order, asking his chief to either put it down in writing or visit the front and take charge of the battle.

In early April 1987, a small force consisting of about a dozen SSG commandos, using ropes and ladders, went up a vertical cliff and occupied a position at over 21,000 ft that dominated the Indian positions at Bilafond La. They named it Quaid post.

The Indian Army made several attempts to evict the commandos but each time they were repulsed with heavy casualties.

However, on June 25, 1987, they succeeded in taking the post as the commandos had run out of ammunition and could not be resupplied for the base supporting them had come under fire. With the only foothold on the ridgeline lost, the Pakistan Army launched a major attack in September to get to Bilafond La, but was repulsed.
