India Scraps $3 Billion Predator Drone Deal With US: Report

Cant wait to see it:

Armament from Russia, engine from US, sensors from Israel, and mechanical components from Europe...

All forced together into a frame designed 30 years ago.
You forgot the paint, paint will be 100 indegnious made by DODO.

Ohh the fantasies that some feed on is laughable. :laughcry: :cuckoo:

There isn't a chance in hell of CAATSA sanctions.
It all depends on US interest, that's the bottom line. CAATSA is not worth the toilet paper it's written on.

India has not been given a waiver for CAATSA sanctions. Predator deal being cancelled, S. Jaishankar trying to secure alternative French engines for the Tejas both happening after USA and friends are imposing sanctions on Russia......:coffee: This has CAATSA written all over it.

The writing is on the wall but Indians are in denial.

India is looking to collaborate with France for Indigenous engines for later versions of AMCA and TEDBF and Tejas will be flying in GE engines only.

AMCA will be initially use US's GE engine and later will be replaced by indigenous JV engine just in line like Shakti engine for ALH.

India is an unreliable strategic partner from US lense. Few examples;

Didn't come to the party in Afghanistan when asked for troops on ground to facilitate US withdrawal

Opposed Climate change resolution in Security council alongwith Russia

Was a push over against China in Ladakh conflict. poor look for a potential bulwark against China

Abstained from recent Ukraine resolution in security council

Regressive Modi regime extremist policies don't align with western political values and have political cost to defend or connive.

Indian can't have the cake and eat it.

Indian news reports indicates that India is seeking French engines for Tejas. What ever happened to the Kaveri jet engine? I thought France was to to fix it as part of the Rafale contract?

As of now Tejas Mk1 (40) & Mk1A (83) will use GE engine but for Tejas Mk2, since it will be a medium fighter. India is looking for a higher thrust engine and for that Safran's M-888, EUROJET consortium's EJ-200 and GE's F414 are in contention, but I think everything will depend on IN selection. If IN select Dassault Rafale then Mk2 preferably go with M-888 and if Boeing F/A-18E/F then GE's F414 will be the choice.

But a separate JV has been signed between DRDO & HAL with Safran for further development of Kaveri engine thrust capacity so that it can be used for Tejas future version and develop a JV engine for AMCA & TEDBF.

If we can keep Saudis, Latin American dictators, Pakistani generals as allies I do not see the problem with Modi

If you look back at cold war 1 USA had the support of GCC, Turkey, Pakistan and China......and it won. The USA has since traded out these partners for strategic partnership with India. The result for the USA has been failure and humiliation. Afghanistan.....failure, Trade war....failure, global COVID vaccine initiative.....failure, Ukraine.....yet to be determined but India will be irrelevant to the outcome and is actually tilted toward Russia. So far USA has gained little from a strategic partnership with India.

Turkey is NATO member. GCC are still US clients

The problems with China are what they are. Whether you like it or not India is the biggest power in Asia after China

Turkey is a NATO member but under CAATSA sanctions and non aligned in cold war 2. GCC are non aligned in cold war 2.

Just because your big doesn't mean your useful. This is the cognitive bias that led to Obama era USA strategists miscalculations that an India, Kabul, and Iran nexus would check Pakistan and the Taliban in Afghanistan. In the end they could not leading to huge embarrassment for the USA and 20 years of wasted resources. India is not relevant to USA national security nor was it strong enough to dominate S. Asia on the USA's behave. Its strategic importance is vastly overstated by most American foreign policy experts.

That is 100% true. America needs a vessel state type relationship. India is too slow to react even under pressure, that's how our system works. And no politician wants to be seen as a poster boy of America bringing war or dead bodies home for no reason.
Only thing American get from india Is business , which is fair, cause India gets some American favours and America will get some defence deals or some market access on favourable terms.
But we are not pak or arab country who get into useless fighting cause America is angry with some1

USA does good business with many countries in the world but it doesn't make them "strategic partners". The relationship is vastly overstated, which is leading to big strategic blunders on the American side, IMO.
