What's new

India pressuring Bangladesh to sign defense treaty

they share border with myanmar too.. and have much worse relation.

Don't tell me that the proposed defense deal is about India needs protection of Bangladesh against aggression by third party......

.
apparently this treaty also states that in case of war with pakistan.... or china.... bangladesh should cut off all economic ties with pakistan/china and declare war on them....
We won't need Bangladesh's help for Pakistan & they won't matter against China, must be fake propaganda. Btw its looks like India is aiming for weapon exports against rival China as you guys are arming yourselves against Myanmar. And for border security or intelligence sharing etc.

I hope it's now become more obvious why General Jacob (standing behind and circled) was having such a crude smile for, based on 5K years of experience of Beni Israil, he was just enjoying the sight of the RAW deal that's being forcibly pushed through the throats of BD Muslims. This is called the capitulation of the Satanic proportion where Hak is replaced with Batil, so that even more folks join Iblis in the Jehennem-i Habia...
Dude Seikh Mujib actually spoilt the Indian party after returning from Pakistan and eventually was killed.

. .
So basically india is saying do what we tell u, we will provide u defence equipment we be ur main seller or we can make mess when ever we want cuz u are small and defenceless.
India forget there is China who is not far Pakistan and russia in region if it was easy to swollow small countries then alot of small nations would been disappeared long ago.
:) bangladesh 's economy is doing good so india keeping an eye on it so they can sell their super duper tegas.

So that India and Indo-US forces can move into NE to deploy against China quickly. Meanwhile NE FFs would be steamrolled.
I was figuring out NE but did not think for once if India would like to seevor facilitate US forces. why do you see there is a possibility?

It's a treaty back from 1972 when it was first proposed... obviously got rejected after mujib was assasinated. I believe you guys are arming Myanmar... they seemed to have purchased Indian missiles and sensors and OPV tech from India

 And the Amazing pot of Gold we have dug out thus far is.....?
As for me it's 200k $ per month in 8 years time

:disagree:
There is quite a lot of anti-India propaganda going.

That will be the last thing we would ever want. We never ask anyone to "fight our wars" :pleasantry:if you know what I meant.
We didn't ask you to fight our war... you got attacked from the west... you guys got involved.

Anyways... your defense minister came with that treaty to be signed but was rejected from his stupid remarks... else it would have been signed

.
We didn't ask you to fight our war

Um yeah you did. You basically asked for help....so we armed and provided refuge, training and artillery/mortar cover for your MB forces....while taking in, feeding and sheltering your refugees (many of whom stayed in India past the war).

Without this your resistance fighters would have been wiped out and a few scattered to the underground, it would have ended up being another Balochistan basically (though a more densely populated version of it, depending on how many survived the civil war period). If India did not support MB forces + deny Pakistan overflight and overland supply...and make sea supply difficult by virtue of size, Bangladesh would not exist today.

This was all stuff you had to ask for (you have to appeal to umpire to have the batsman be given out), it wasn't just given to you....but of course it was given without much reluctance (just like a plumb lbw appeal) given India's lingering problem with Pakistan.

I am only talking about before the December intervention (which you say started in the west) as well.

india has little to offer to Bangladesh (the people, not the puppet administration in charge) except one insult after the other...hegemony

interestingly, Mahinda Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka (whom we hold in high regard in Pakistan) left a legacy of anti terrorism in Sri Lanka, working closely with Pakistan and China (Sri Lanka's primary arms suppliers). Following the end of his tenure, it seemed that Sri Lanka was being bullied into submission by the indians but these days China is RE-flexing its muscles.

The good:

Hambantota Port
Cash inflows
Job creation
Investor confidence

The bad:

There is some opposition due to the terms of the deal
Protests by some sections of society (some still ongoing)

The solution to BD and india's neigbhours and "neighbours" whom the indians are trying (desperately) to get on their band-wagon

1.) Psy-ops
2.) Pro-active approach by Pak media, Chinese media and nationalist media of countries meddled around by india - to highlight their hegemonic designs....afterall, india is no saint and they have plenty of internal ethnic/separatist issues to tend to first
3.) Field our BEST ambassadors, policy makers and retired military to regularly attend panel discussions in those countries and abroad (barring Bangladesh which under demagogue Hasina wouldnt even allow for that)

China has more of a role to play here than Pakistan. We may have to piggy-back off them --- but that's better than doing nothing. Joint Pak-Sino efforts to contain indian hegemony is the need of the hour.

And it can be done.

@Horus @Irfan Baloch @Hyperion can surely chime in a bit and add to this

Who told you we are arming against Myanmar? Our expansion of armed forces or defence purchase is not against any specific country. We are only bridging the gap between what we have and what should be our military strength given size of our country.Current military might is very inadequate for the defence of a country of 170 million people with fast growing economy.Military was neglected in the past,we are trying to correct that with normal paces.

For your information, out of 10 division army(9 existing, 1 under formation) of Bangladesh, only 2 division are sufficiently close enough to face any hypothetical Burmese attack. We consider this level adequate enough.Others are many hundred km away. This is very different from India-Pakistan troops deployment pattern.Myanmar also didn't commit their significant portion of armed forces close to BD border, rather they are spread over whole Myanmar to suppress dozens of insurgency. Our recent submarine acquisition also indicate, our arms purchase is not directed against Myanmar or any other country.Myanmar have no submarine.

This was the TOP factor which drove India to support us in '71. Access and logistical facility to crush NE; and deploy against China as an US proxy when China decides to cross the Himalayas. The latter is inevitable given that S Tibet and parts of Aksai Chin are still occupied by India.

1.If only things were that easy for occupation force than Algeria would never gained independence against France.Algeria was not a colony but constituent part of mainland France and French deployed 400,000 troops to crush the rebellion of 10 million Algerian with NATO backing. But Algerian fought for 12 years,a lot of people were died, but gained independence. In 1971,our determination for independence was no less than Algerian or Vietnamese.

2.Many Indian have a habit of comparing East Pakistan with Balochistan.East Pakistan was 55 percent of entire Pakistan while Balochistan was 2 percent.Balochi even don't have majority in their own province, only a few tribe want independence, have a long border with rest of Pakistan. It is not difficult to understand that Pakistan will crush Balochistan rebellion with relatively easy.Same case with rebellion in Indian north-east,rebels are too small and vast majority of north-eastern people don't support them.

3.If you read the international newspaper of that time,it is clearly evident that Pakistan was suffering a lot economically due to turmoil in East Pakistan.Their economy became desperate as early as June-July.There was a growing desperation on part of Pakistan to find a political solution and a 'withdrawal with dignity'.That's why they made a Bengali Nurul Amin as the PM of Pakistan during the war and even thinking about negotiation with Awami League. There was no way Pakistan could support a military operation in East Pakistan year after year without ruining themselves.

4.By the October-November Mukti Bahini guerrilla attack increases so much that Pakistani army became fearful about defeat. But they were too ashamed to acknowledge this and decided to turn it into another Indo-Pak war to save their dignity from loosing against a guerrilla force.Their was also concern about treatment of beleaguered Pakistani troops at the hands of Mukti Bahini. At least Indian will follow Geneva convention. So they decided to be defeated under superior Indian forces. That's why they attacked western Indian airfield in 3rd December to turn it into another Indo-Pak war.So Pakistan got the opportunity of a mass surrender in East Pakistan and gave minimum resistance in the western front knowing that this war is a lost cause.Mukti Bahini didn't asked Indian force to directly involve in Eastern war theatre.Indian jumped in that war to claim the last moment glory.

5.Indian assistance, although substantial, was not the only decisive factor.Even with neutral India, Bangladesh would still have emerged as an independent country, with considerable longer time requirement. But India could not let go this opportunity of a life time so easily. So we got the independence in only 9 months and Indian got the opportunity to brag against Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Summary translation:
according to some report, in defense treaty india is pushing for ability to conduct military operation inside Bangladesh. Also, in such military ops inside Bangladesh, Bangladesh army will operate under indian command. There was some initial resistance from bangladesh army but Awami league managed those resistance using high level reshuffle and other benefits.

In return awami league is seeking uninterrupted indian support to stay in power illegally.

Now??? What were the BD folks thinking when fighting under the Indian command in 1971??? As Ay-yildiz (Sitara & Hilal), defined by Saya-i Huda-i Zul Jelal, was lowered wouldn't be there any repercussion???? It looks like the British implemented "permanent settlement", which reduced BD Muslims to a permanent socially and economically deprived underclass under the Hindu landlords, all over again. It's not that always the free services from Rahmetli Jinnah are available to rescue as many Muslims as possible from the clutches of Ram Rajya. And, this is just the beginning. Ahh BD Muslims Ahh!! The road to hell is paved with good intentions for Bed-Baht and Be-Akl folks...
