India-Pakistan tension can no longer be ignored; Kashmir suffering, says Turkey's Erdogan

Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday said the suffering of Kashmiris due to escalating Indo-Pak tensions "can no longer be ignored" as he called on the two countries to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue.

Erdogan, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, made the remarks after he held detailed talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a joint press conference, the Turkish President told the media that during his one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Sharif they talked about the situation in Kashmir.

"Our brothers and sisters in Kashmir are suffering because of escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and Kashmir, which can no longer be ignored," Erdogan said.

He stressed on the importance of dialogue to address the thorny issue.

"The Kashmir issue needs to find a resolution for itself following a dialogue between Pakistan and India," Erdogan said.

He thanked Pakistan for siding with Turkey's elected government during a failed coup bid earlier this year.

"Soon after the failed coup attempt in Turkey, I received a phone call from President Mamnoon Hussain and we discussed a possible response to the development," he said.

Erdogan also lambasted what his government has termed the Fethullah Terror Organisation (Feto) for allegedly supporting the coup and said it was a threat to other countries.

"We are in the process of warning all of our friends and countries (against Feto) across the globe with whom we have solidarity," he said.

Erdogan also welcomed Pakistan's decision to expel dozens of teachers and staff of Turkish schools in Pakistan which were controlled by Fetullah.

We have nothing against Turkish Friends but you people should ask you Sultan to mind his own business...

Who is he calling Brothers in Indian Kashmir ... when most of Kashmiris cant point where is Turkey in world map and most in Turkey cant point out where is Kashmir even on an Indian Map...

Erdogan better concentrate on Syria cause Putin is a Man of vengeance he will return back to Sultan once matters are sorted out in Syria and there is no Obama in Oval office to protect his Buttt...

Only problems warrant solutions. You do not fix what ain't broke. Status quo is maintained by arming for war but trying for peace. To be honest, India is never going to give up on the part of Kashmir you occupy. It is our land bridge to Afghanistan and the CAR states. We are in holding mode. But do not mistake who is holding out for what. It's actually you who seems to be skimming the surface here if you honestly believe the fight is about the part of Kashmir that we hold. That is only in your mind/s. And yes, it is programmed institutionalized propaganda.
Your comments just ooze of ignorance.

I'm glad that you at least acknowledge that what you've said is nothing more than propaganda.

Anyway, I'm done. No point in continuing on with this conversation, considering you're unwilling to listen.

Coming back to Bangladesh, the dismemberment of Pakistan, and your belief that I brought it up to make you mad, nothing of the sort. You were in all likelihood not even born when that happened. I myself was a month old and my parents still remember the air raid sirens and the black windows and lights out curfew of those critical days. So its one thing for young Pakistanis to be "angry" about 1971, its a whole different level of pain which your compatriots went through and go through to this day who were at least adolescents at the time and had a good idea of what was happening. I do not know the detailed ages, but I'm guess that Musharraf and his batch were the YOs in the PA at the time. Hence the burning fire for vengeance, and the hatred they so obviously brim with. I think probably Kayani as well. I'm not so sure, but I'm willing to bet that Bangladesh was before Raheel Sharif took his commission. And now Bajwa. As the years pass, the subsequent COAS's will be less and less embittered and carrying the emotional luggage of that event. Till we get to the generation that went through Kargil. And the probably the cycle of the quest for vengeance shall repeat. Speaking of Kargil, many Pakistanis here, even knowledgeable ones close to the fauj like @DESERT FIGHTER etc., would not have been barely into school at the time. So to be honest, unless you have some really senior Pakstanis here (could also be read as old), most of you have never really gone through a war defeat at the hands of India.

Believe me, when you do, and you will, it will hurt.

More opinions being presented as facts. Your comments are nothing more than assumptions. Not a single thing you've written isn't based upon your own assumptions.

Was giving you perspective. Something you seem to be in need of.

I have quite a bit of perspective, you need to stop assuming things about other people. Your arrogance doesn't help your argument.

Typical bharati response to most criticism: "you have problems in your own country, go solve them" so as to absolve themselves of any criticism.

Meanwhile, in the same breath, "Balochistan, Hindu conversion, Taliban, Al Qaeda". What a bunch of shameless hypocrites these guys have are.

Turkey isnt liked by NATO nations, most want to kick them out of NATO.

Buddy it's difficult having these 24-hourly conversations. And we seem to be veering away from mulla Erdogan. You seem to be harbouring some hope somewhere that when all that you have done to wrest Kashmir from our hands has failed, somehow a fundamentalist mulla from a Muslim country is going to come in as Messiah and apply so much pressure as arbitrator that it is going to magically cause India to cave in and hand Kashmir to you.

Let me give you some more perspective from an Indian viewpoint. Were any government to buckle, were our army to be destroyed in an instantaneous radioactive flash of your tactical weapons, there would still be 1.3 billion enraged Indians. And they would swarm into Kashmir. And probably spillover as well. Either you are going to snatch Kashmir over our dead bodies. Or we are going to hold it over yours. IF you ever try to force it.

See what I mean about the assuming? My stance on Kashmir is actually quite pragmatic. I think Musharraf's solution is the best, and neither side will ever hand over, or even take by force, their respective control over their sides of Kashmir.

So, yeah. You can just take your assumption, and throw it in the garbage.

Again, take your perspective, and throw it in the garbage, because it is unneeded and unwanted.

I already know India's stance, and much better explained by much more knowledgeable Indian members. You've brought nothing to the table.

I don't see you bringing anything to this table either. And Musharraf did Kargil. Why exactly are you harbouring hopes of India being remotely positively inclined to anything that man has to say? Since you've decided definitively on my knowledge level, can you help me with a one liner that encapsulates what his solution is? We can take it from there and let mulla Erdogan concentrate on his burning country instead.

Lol... Brothers and sisters rhetoric.

First of all, Turkey is doing just fine, you should be more worried about India's current financial crisis, related to the demonetization of currency.

Second, I wasn't the one making ridiculous comments, all I've done is call you out on your own.

Third, India actually initially did respond positively to Musharraf's purposeful (though they wanted to change a few things); unfortunately, certain unrelated urgent issues popped up, and it was put on hold. You seem to have this idea that geopolitics revolve around one man, which is why I question your knowledge. Why do you think Modi went from being banned from entering the US, to becoming a close US ally? National interests trump one man's history and morals.

We're seeing this again with Trump, and we'll likely see it with other future world leaders as well.
