India, Pakistan should engage in talks: Bangladeshi experts

When SAARC was formed by Ziaur Rahman, the intent was extremely noble, a small South Asian govt. free trade organization. SAFTA ( South Asian Free Trade Area) was formed in 2006.

The reason SAARC did not succeed is because of distrust of some member countries (Pakistan) who thought that India will dominate and benefit more from this grouping than other smaller countries.

In hindsight Pakistan should have given SAARC a chance. They still can.
Thank you for advice. Try advise your best friends and mentors the Indians. Thank you

yeah that must be true @Nilgiri @GeraltofRivia @Two @lonelyman should be able to back you up on this.

Friend, I will be taking some leave from this forum till things are calmer. I will pop in here and there to check in on friends etc.

When I return, I will likely engage on matters of economic development purely...and maybe bit of usual chat/banter.

I will leave (or be extremely selective about) geopolitics, history, military matters, politics etc. and most other realms I have interacted in before. Over time that just creates noise rather than understanding here (whatever combo of south asian country it concerns)....very few want to climb down from their positions to rumble...so its just time waste that I can ill-afford anymore...given the novelty has worn off completely now.

@Game.Invade @Joe Shearer @GeraltofRivia @Gibbs @Godman @Indus Pakistan @OsmanAli98

I have made a cpl replies of this nature elsewhere already (to Pak friends mostly), I just forgot to tag some ppl in those.

Take care to all BD friends like @bluesky @Mage @Avicenna et. al.

Dude is running away as the narrative of Indians and Pakistanis joining hands against BD is now destroyed due to recent events.

Loser is cutting his losses.

Yes that proceeds as per usual. I will have it ready don't you worry.

Please leave a little gap for updates. I am updating the Indian Orbat and have got through Northern, Western and South Western Commands; Southern, Central and Eastern Commands are left. Sorry to dislocate things, but apparently there have been changes that are not reflected everywhere public, and I have been guided through these by a reliable source.

@Gryphon

FYI

I would request emphasis on Independent Armd / Mech / Inf Bdes of IA.

And if some Indp Armd / Mech Bdes are being merged with Inf Divisions to form RAPIDs or new Armd regiments & MIBs being raised.

Regards!

Just finished, but am not satisfied.

It is PRECISELY in the fluid areas that you have mentioned that there is maximum confusion. Three, perhaps four sources, none of them match. I have been conservative and mentioned whatever was the most accurate picture, even though it might be several years out of date.

Only @Vibrio or @jbgt90 can update these, and somehow, given their professions, I suspect that they will not. We're on our own.

@Signalian

I have it in a Word file. Nilgiri, I suppose the best way to pass it on is to send it to you at your personal e-mail id. A test mail follows. I don't have e-mail ids of the others.

Also, the locations of Brigade-level formations are not always available; we are talking about perhaps 36 * 3 = 108+ brigades including those formatted within divisions. I have tried to separate Division (and Corps) level reserves by listing them BEFORE the integral Divisions, and listing attached independent brigades AFTER the integral Divisions.

I am beginning to suspect that you are right. Even history is not safe.

@Joe Shearer

No need to go down to the brigade level, will only make it cumbersome, just post the Independent Armd / Mech / Inf Bdes (that are reported by good sources) in the relevant thread.

Interested folks may correct errors, if any.

Sounds doable. Wait till this evening around 9; some cleaning up to be done (basically, taking it from table format to text format. It's such tedious work, but no help for it.

I have captured data for all but two Commands: Central and ASTRAC. As I am going with a slightly older version, it shows Central Command with no resources, everything having been transferred to South-West or Southern Commands. It is known that there was a re-think recently, but the results are not clearly known. Rather than speculate, the known situation only is reported.

Ok people enough trolling here! If you are incapable of discussing I will shut this thread and start issuing warnings! So be civil!

Stop being so civil my dear @Dubious

Just hand them ...... ;)

Psssst ... don't do that ... somehow people will realize that Indian Army has less than 300000 troops along LC, Ladakh, Aksai Chin border, and interiors of J&K (inclusive of RR units) ;)

Why do you want to bust the 700000 or thereabouts figure? :D

I will sit this one out. :coffee:
