I believe we are ideally placed for negotiating peace between the two countries.

A stable South Asia (as a result of arms de-escalation) is a definite pre-requisite for the uplift of poor people in South Asia. Trillions could be saved from not buying useless weapons.

The only losers will be the military industrial complex in both countries (and some foreign countries in the West involved in the arms trade), but local leaders can still make windfall profit in other peacetime industrialization and export efforts by utilizing their populace...

I don't see this as a problem for China either. Peace helps everyone except those who wish to fish in muddy waters.

Irony is that last time Bangladesh acted as side kick of India and boycotted SAARC. Announced to stand with India in case of war, how suddenly you are "ideally placed for negotiating peace between the two countries"?

When SAARC was formed by Ziaur Rahman, the intent was extremely noble, a small South Asian govt. free trade organization. SAFTA ( South Asian Free Trade Area) was formed in 2006.

The reason SAARC did not succeed is because of distrust of some member countries (Pakistan) who thought that India will dominate and benefit more from this grouping than other smaller countries.

In hindsight Pakistan should have given SAARC a chance. They still can.
