India Outlines New Carrier Ambitions

The reason why India went with Rafale is because non of the aircraft that are there in MMRCA met the IAF requirements except Rafale.

Typhoon is a good fighter but still under development at that time.

Had US pitched F 35 in MMRCA, IAF would have gone for that. F 35 which is jointly developed fighter jet which has less restrictions compared to US manufactured fighter jets.

India needs good 5th gen tech so that it can develop its own AMCA.

If my senses are right,, then IN go for Rafale M.

Battle Groups aren't always gonna give you a 100% proection. In war with China, for instance, things can get really ugly really fast.

First you said no war, then war. What you trying to prove?

Indian doctrine says any nuclear attack on its land or interests will get massive retaliation...so not sure what is the issue here??

I wasn't talking about a nuclear attack- I was referring to a conventional attack on a nuclear carrier. It is a very very big strategic asset, as important as a piece of land. And add to it the fact that if a missile does hit the reactor....the consequences for the whole battle group are going to be severe.

So, arent CBG always prepare for that. Thats why we call CBG?

You talking like, why train soldiers when they going to die. Foolish argument.

wrong sir, even in the MMRCA contract India weighed the reliability of the supplier after buying, you cannot buy a plane and use it for ever they need repairs and no strings attached approach, which the Americans don't have, and F18's super hornts are as good or better then Rafael, but the reliability weighed more towards Rafael, and as for eurofighters india didnot wanted to deal with five or six countries for one plane, any one country could have denied spares for their selfish reasons , the americans and europeans can simply deny spares and services by quoting human rights, russia has never done such things to India, they are angry because India is moving towards america, you will know the burn only if you touch the hot pan

that's why AC's don't always roam around shores they are placed far away from shores, there is an ever increasing threat of suicide ships

And new missile systems which can penetrate CBG cover in war conditions.

Rafale is 4.5 genration fighter aircraft, F 35 is better in my view.

Rafale is not being made in India since french are reluctant to share the tech. I think F 35 is the best option available there. Rafale navy will cost more on par with F35.

Logistic mightmare is issue right now. IN and IAF needs to address this issue.

Well india already designed and building AC, so come and talk when you make your own.
You mean design an empty shell like container ship? :D

The subsystem from even chairs I think are all foreign import.

IN here i come

that's why its called aircraft carrier and its not one ship it consists of many ships, 02/04 destroyers, 02 missile boats, 01/02 subs, and patrol vessals, and all these have their own anti missile arrangements, these ships move in much distance from each other if any one of the ships detect any missile their own anti missile apparatus is activated, and even if they miss the next is the planes which engage these planes and the AC has its own anti missile system and CIWS, if the enemy uses re entry vehicles they have a lot of them to engage and if its cruise missiles then its the duty of the support ships to engage them, and India has these capabalities

Regarding Angry part ...... your logic is like all the countries get angry and India has to cope up with that .... laughable.

India has its strategic interests and India is taking care of them. India has balanced relationship with both Russia and USA. I don't think Russia will be worried about India purchasing american stuff.

Russia itself wanted to buy Mistral which is western tech.

I think your point is not valid here.

For the defence of a country a country will do what ever it can to make its military most advanced and strong.

F35 is not US fighter jet, it is a joint development. There will be less restrictions compared to US tech.

Rafale M is better choice compared to F35.

I think there would be a bigger blast if the missile hit a conventional fuel tank for a carrier.

you may say this but the govt has other worries, which it cannot agree publicly, its better to wait and watch, aand in near feature no strategic stuff is going to come from america and India is not in a mood to antagonize Russia, India will maintain balance buying stuff from Russia, France and and try to increase the share of american stuff, this is not going to happen in over time, you may not believe that even now the american strategic think tank thinks that Pakistan is an useful ally and they will use it to create mischief, both india and america needs time to come off age and it will happen gradually not in a go, you can see this for your self

that's why tankers are placed far away from the main fleet which has an escort and guard boats
