Great start for sure. One day Indian shipyards will be making huge 65,000++ ton ACCs and 40,000 ton LHD/LPD for the IN in short periods of time. This is a step in the right direction.

The IAC-1 will be better across the board. The sensors (MF-STAR and RAN-40L) on the IAC-1 outclass those on the VIKY and most Large combat ships to be honest. The weapons will be about the same as both will come with the BARAK-2 however the MF-STAR is the better sensor so will make better use if the BARAK-2s. The intental volume on the IAC-1 is greater dispite being marginally lighter as such it will be able to house more MIG-29K/N-LCA. Wrt Battle groups here won't be much in it as the IN will likely use very similar escorts for both ACCs.

Just a few questions: where on Vikramaditya would Barak-8 missile launchers be installed, what radars would be used for missile/fire control, where on the vessel would they be installed, when would all this take place and what is the source for the assertion that Barak-8 will be installed on Vikramaditya?

The EL/M-2258/ALPHA (Advanced Lightweight Phased Array Radar) will be used for the missile/fire control.

It will be fixed here:

Some people are saying the BARAK-2 (the BARAK-8 is the land based version with a 120+ km range) will be fitted as soon as the VIKY gets to Indian shores. Others are saying it will be fitted within 36 months of it getting to India- I couldn't tell you for sure right now sir.

Wrt location of the VL-tubes for the BARAK-2 I couldn't say with any degree of certainty but I'd presume it would be next to the flight line in a similar postion as on the IAC-1:
