India launches its 1st indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant

Our military doctrine has always been defensive. Even when we have initiated a conflict, the intention was always to contain it in disputed areas, upon incorrect assumptions that India will not violate the Border. But basically, our Military is raised as a defensive force.

That's what I am saying.

There is going to be no offensive capabilities except for maybe behind-enemy-lines capabilities done by special forces of each of the Asian countries.

The true offensive capabilities still today are possessed only by two countries USA and Russia and Chinese are on the way to get there.

To extend that kind of logistics forward, it is an enormous feat.

Your Jets violate our airspace almost every month....how many times have we actually taken a shot at any of your birds? We don't take shots at Jets that do not pose direct threats! And our BVR acquisition was not from US then, we always had other sources including South Africa!!

That's your opinion. However, you did come across as a child because of the childish arguments.

So Kargil wasn't a time of escalated tensions between India and Pakistan you meant to say? Or your PAF was not fighting a war?

During that time two MiG 29s locked on to two of your F 16s and they could not break the lock for a minute or something. This means that the MiG 29s were not hostile?

Above all without the source codes of the American F 16s how could you integrate the Darter series of missiles to them which South Africa possesses?

On May 99 2 F 16s were locked on.

just my day dream, how about a Python-V based CIWS (indiRAM) for close in anti missile defence against sea skimmers for it while the Barak-8 takes on the aircraft n high flyers at long range :D

Instead we can use Barak-1 itself. The Barak 8 and the Barak-1 will form the layered defence. I would rather like to see something like the SM 3 to we developed from the Ashwin missile coupled with a naval Swordfish radar on a destroyer.

Note the tinted canopy designed to reduce RCS. The Russian version seems to have a red-shade tint
while the version operated by Indian Navy has a gold-shade tint similar to US F-16s.

i know of the Barak-1 but m guessing we can carry more Pythons cuz of size difference...n since it has IIR guidance can engage more targets unlike radar guided Barak...the more the merrier :yahoo:

Why waste the already less space on a 40k ton aircraft carrier was my point.

Bro, wrt this tint. I'd suspect it is identical for both the Russian and Indian versions but the angle, lighting conditions etc can account for any perceived differences.

indian friends, could you please tell me:

who did the design? yes, French!
who built the engine? US or Russia?

same question for sonar, radar and so on.

there is something bothered me for long:

what happens when some of the fighters carried by this aircraft carrier got shut down? I mean if india can't build it own, what happens when you are getting less and less fighters?

maybe pick up the phone and ask russians to sell you more? that is sad because the answer can be No, or it might be "sure, but not now."

Prove it. No foreign country is involved in design of IAC-1. Not even Italy - they helped with ADS but that's a cancelled project. IAC-1 is vastly superior to anything Italy has designed so far on itself.

who built the engine? US or Russia?

The former.

same question for sonar,

Sonar is Indian.

Israeli.

Something has also bothered me for long -

What happens if some of the engines powering J-15s on Liaoning got shut down? I mean, if china's own WS-10 is not qualified for carrier ops, what happens when you're getting less and less engines?

Can J-15 take off without engines?

what is this?

It's nothing you can understand or comprehend or build, so where is the point in asking?

Go home, kid, and take some pictures pictures of your Ukrainian ruskbucket.
