India, Japan, US plan naval exercises in tightening of ties in Indian Ocean

What is clear --- is that Japan and India are two pillars of stability and strength in the two great oceans; Pacific and Indian. Long may our naval traditions and naval institutions forge strength, unity, interoperability and firmly affixed in stability of our region, of Asia and the world.

Anything for the "World Peace" :)

Hopefully all 3 Navy's will send some of their best naval assets. I want to see great pictures!

Yeah well, the star quarterback as usual would be USA :)

The problem for changing this ideology is that you would need to change the people behind it i.e the Mullahs and Ayatollahs which means either :suicide2: or :sniper: or :guns: and then the people would have to accept of such change. You can ask the Iranian members on this very board what they want.

Changes are never easy, my friend, in fact one can even argue in political dialectics that political changes even require the sacrifice of blood, and political economy. If lessons we learn from Perestroika and Glasnost , The 1861-1865 American Civil War. Even in Japan, the Meiji Restoration was successful due in part to sacrifice of the Satsuma-Chosu Alliance, which waged war to depose the Bakufu (Tokugawa Shogunate) and to restore the Emperor on the Throne. Thousands perished in this national political change, but in the end, Japan had transitioned from feudalism to a constitutional monarchy that it remains to this day.

The challenges of the times are never meant to be easy. But they are nevertheless means for greater opportunities for said nation when the aspirations of the leaders are in tune with the people's wishes and desires.

The Iran Nuclear Deal and recent warming of ties between Tehran and other major global powers such as Tokyo, Washington DC, Delhi, Beijing, Moscow, London, Paris et al --- is testament of just this dynamic change processes happening in Iran.

I think Iran stands at the cross-roads today, and my gut says they will slowly adopt policies which promote reconciliation with USA and it's allies.

Even India was at such a stage back in 1991 where our isolationist policies had wrecked our economy and future seemed bleak of-course the rest is history.

I expect Iran to follow a similar path as India and to an extent China. A moderate and integrated Iran has limitless potential

Carriers and their respective Strike Group Escorts. ;)

India -US-Japan navy is neigh unbeatable. I would bet my money on it against any likely grouping for eg China-Russia,

As I said, the ideology of the ideological state will stay alive as long as the Ayatollahs do - both in the physical world and in the minds of people. You can ask the Iranian members whether they support the Mullahs or not.

There is no warming of ties. Iran is still part of the Axis. Their ideology has largely remained the same since 1979. The only difference this time was that they came begging to the US and other powers to lift their sanctions (completely f'ed up by OBAMA) and we let them back in. Japan, China and India are in it for the $$$. No military-strategic relationship.

Of course. Indian Navy has a proud naval tradition and has never lost a naval engagement in its existence, more than less, the Indian Navy inherits the proud naval tradition of the Royal Navy, so one can understand their naval legacy and excellence. Experience as well as quality inventory provides her the necessary means to engage effectively any threat.

She is a great partner, ally to have. :)

Thank you sir, We are relative novices compared to Japan and USA and while our navy is nothing to sneeze at and has always performed admirably, it is always good to see the true masters of craft in action. I believe these exercises are a great learning experience for Indian Navy

Ah well, don't be so touchy. It's nothing personal my friend. Was just thinking aloud.

We have received no favors or aid from Russia on this, they fully extracted their pound of flesh and skinned us alive for every last cent they could get. It was a business transaction pure and simple.

Russians these days are selling weapons to everyone they can w/o giving a damn about Indian concerns so it is but natural that we will diversify our interests.

P.S. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for Russia but as they say - You gotta be realistic

.
Great news...it'll be awsome if we put INS Vikramatitya aling with Migs and Kolkata class destroyer, and shivalik class frigates @Nihonjin1051 i hope we see US-2 plane along with Soryu subs

You gotta be realistic
Then realistically speaking, can you get any of the above mentioned items from anyone else on the international market? How would the Navy plan on fighting Russian with their own stuff whose secrets they very well know.

Woah!! Coool down - no one is talking about fighting Russians. I was just talking about strengths on paper like fantasy league or so on.

My post was directed at the comment by you - biting the hand which feeds. I meant to say we are slowly moving away from Russian sphere of influence, these things happen over decades.

I apologize if i gave the wrong impression.

Actually, we trace it to the Chola and later to the Maratha Navy :)
