Went to see TajMahal last week with friends via "Yamuna Expressway". Usually it take almost +4 hours of drive to reach Agra from Delhi, but it took less then 2 hours this time because of this marvelous expressway. It was awesome, whole chunk of nearly 200 kilometer long road was up-to International standards with 3 toll plaza's and Public convenience. If anyone on this forum is from Delhi/NCR , should hit this road.

Posting few pics...

Bombayi city circa 1958:

That time mumbai was a city with all dirty and shabby low buildings and slums, 30 years from now mumbai will be a city of ugly and dirty looking tall buildings. This city will never become world class. It is destined to be ugly, unplanned and dirty.

HYDERABAD: Larsen and Toubro Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited, or LTMRHL, which is constructing the metro rail for the city, has awarded the contract to supply rolling stock of railway coaches to Korea's Hyundai Rotem.

For the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, a total of 171 cars (57 trains) have been ordered for a total value of Rs 1,800 crore approximately. The rolling stock will be delivered nine months prior to the commissioning of each stage of construction of the elevated metro rail project. The project seeks to develop a 72-km rail network along three dense corridors in Hyderabad, all by 2015-end.

Hyundai Rotem Company has prior experience of supplying to Indian metros and has globally supplied to projects in Japan, Greece, Hong Kong, Philippines, Taiwan, Turkey and Korea. L&T had earlier shortlisted a Canada's Bombardier, Spain's CAF and China's CSR including the Hyundai-BEML for choosing the supplier of railway coaches.

L&T Metro Rail's chief executive V B Gadgil said, "Theorder has been awarded to Hyundai Rotem Company after examining various rolling stock manufactures operating in metros in India and abroad."

L&T Metro Rail is a subsidiary of L&T IDPL, promoted by L&T Group and is executing the metro rail project at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore. The first phase of the project is expected to be ready by end of 2013.

We should manufacture the rolling stock ourselves. Considering the size of the metro being built, its imperative we manufacture our own rolling stock!
