India Developing, but still a long way to go

All the very best of luck with everything which improve human condition in your country.

Keep doing positive things!

The thing about India is that India runs on 'cost-benefits' analysis on all major projects now benchmarked to Global best practices, with a patronage padding fanning out to the max.
  1. Technically speaking, technology, comfort etc. don't yet seem the focus but inducted as a necessity re: demand.

  2. Important to remember that the gigantic Railways are no white elephant, Indian railways is a profitable enterprise.

  3. Finally, end user friendly practices and massive up-gradation is on it's way, yet I have a feeling the key driver of railway modernization is cheap Global finance re: potential profit amplification because of pent up demand for quality services
For eg. the double-deckers commissioned a few yrs. ago are already entering mainstream service across the entire network. Bombay suburban conversion is also underway in full force. Delhi metro is ramping up massively to hit Global Top 5 soon. All major metros have mass rapid rail based metro systems underway. Bombay-Delhi freight corridor opens next, or next-to-next yr. BRT systems are rolling out across the country. Ports, river linking, 5 G spectrum, education, information highways, digitisation (eg demonitisation=rooting out black money), tunnels, bridges roads, housing for all, health for all, a second Moon mission, defence, civil nuclear and aviation industry, Solar and Wind ... India is in for a massive overhaul and all this is timed re: next election in 2-3 yrs. Today, news reports say the Govt. is onto $ 65 Billion China led FDI.

Are those equipment made in this operations Made in India by Indian companies?

metro reaching tier 3 cities like Kochi is an achievement for India when many countries don't have metro even in their capital city

Once you made it then that is called achievement not purchase it from outside. Try to understand the word achievement. The most correct word will be Development not achievement

Best of luck with your imported stuff and feel proud to use them meanwhile everywhere else in this world try to manufacture things by their own. India was and is progressing well in space technology and that is what is called achievement not some imported stuff or few mechanical stuff. Once India start inventions only then i can say an achievement otherwise you be happy with in your world

No problem bruh. We will import it and re-export it. At a cheaper rate. I don't think we need to invent wheel again. We invent medicines though. We are exporting it to you. Don't you get some? Cipla. Watch out the paracetamol you might need when you start feeling the heat might be made in India.:azn: Not to mention Pakistani's coming to India for medical treatment and it's not the other way around.

We make money, others 'eat grass' like a famous person once said.

The statistics look good on paper but it means nothing as long as the most populous states of UP/Bihar/MP continue to outbreed the rest of India. We will keep going backwards.

BTW, Bihar at 3.4 and UP at 3.1!!! Are you fcuking kidding me? What's wrong with these people? Even the rabid islamists in Bangladesh got theirs under control!

Not long ago UP and Bihar were at 4+, they are dropping quite fast now. They are really who are bringing the average down now given they are the population bulks and the rest have no room to decrease all that much anymore.

I am actually not very optimistic of any further fall since I think the religious considerations might be playing their part in keeping the TFR high. This may well be the best they could do, if not any worse.

One silver lining though is Waste Bengal - assuming the numbers to be accurate.

Technically speaking, I'm supportive of US, China and India each applying their most advantageous resources to leverage their respective economies.
  1. The US applied land and other natural resources, imported human resources, scale, demand to imported European technology with slaves as basic labour

  2. China applied labour, discipline land and and then infrastructure

  3. India is leveraging labour, land, nominal R&D and it's English language enabled cohort to Globalise as it industrialises
India is now a middle income country which is considered at least on the cusp of industrialisation if not already newly industrialised
Nobody invents nothing for no reason.

However, when India has the resources to make innovation a priority, it's ethos of historical originality (think ayurveda, yoga, algebra, trigonometry, surgery) and newly imported culture of cause-&effect based R&D (pharma, IT, auto, aerospace, outer space), as it melds the past with the present, it will leap into a new age of innovation.

:offtopic:

BJP's predicted sweep of UP will change things? Howzzat ?
  1. Re: population control in UP, it has now like Punjab all the right conditions to zoom with a heavy doze of industrialisation. UP was and remains already reasonably industrial, think sugar production, textiles, power, water and coal. Which communities run factories ?

  2. Parsis, Marwari's, Sindhi's, Jain's, Ismailis, Bohra's, Gujaratis. Meaning communities that view Modi as their primary leader, most speak Gujarati or a version of Gujarati at home.

  3. With Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor coming up next year Gujarat and Rajasthan's factories may be co-located to UP with the same party across these major states plus throw in Maharashtra for effect.

Whatsapp Users in the world and share of Indians

In May 2014, WhatsApp crossed 50 million monthly active users in India, which is also its largest country by the number of monthly active users.

In October 2014, WhatsApp crossed 70 million monthly active users in India, which is 10% of its total user base (700 MM).

In February 2017, WhatsApp crossed 200 million monthly active users in India.

As of February 2017, WhatsApp has over 1.2 billion users globally.
