No doubt about it. As we have learned now most conflicts will be short and lethal. Even if 10 PAF thunder or mirages get destroyed but if they sink this one ship through combined air and missile attack then its worth it.

Underestimating IN is juvenile.

IN Kolkata class destroyers are advanced and well-equipped warships; its Barak-8 class interceptors can intercept/stop AShM and cruise missiles mid-air.

Expect an IN aircraft carrier to have an escort which will make it difficult to defeat even with decent planning and execution.

P8i Poseidon are very powerful surveillance platforms and IN have scores of these to monitor activity across Indian Ocean let alone Pakistani coasts. If you know in advance, you can plan your moves accordingly.

All those fanciful maximum ranges of different types of missiles being highlighted here, does not suggest that each will score a hit at its touted maximum range.

Nevertheless, professionalism of Indian Navy personnel will make considerable difference for IN in a potential engagement with PN and/or PLAAN. If they are a bunch of idiots like Indian Air Force, IN is toast. However, if they are well-trained and capable, then Pakistan and China need to worry a great deal.

No one ever looks at exactly how effective they are with ramp take offs. Their range is low their weapon load is negligible. The carrier is essentially a large floating target for Awacs to spot and missiles to sink.

The American Carriers, for example, replenishes with a dozen highly capable escort ships.....The Indian carrier with a few frigates or destroyers will be nothing more than future Coral Reefs.
