India 'concerned' over China running Gwadar port
By AFP Published: February 6, 2013
BANGALORE: India’s defence minister said Wednesday that New Delhi was concerned by Pakistan’s decision last month to transfer management of a strategically located deep-sea port to China.

“In one sentence, it is a matter of concern for us,” AK Antony told reporters in Bangalore where he inaugurated the Indian air show. “My answer is very straightforward and simple.”

On January 30, Pakistan approved a deal transferring management of Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea from a Singapore company to China, which provided most of the funding to build the facility in the province of Balochistan.

China has been extending its influence with traditional allies of New Delhi around the Indian Ocean as well as in Pakistan.

Beijing also funded a port in Sri Lanka and has been approached to help build a similar facility in Bangladesh.

A high-level Chinese delegation from Beijing is attending the Aero India show for the first time in a sign of improving relations between Asia’s two biggest countries, which renewed their military cooperation last September.

BLA leadership must be summoned in the Indian "cultural" centres in Afghanistan and told to make all that Indian tax money spent on them worthwhile

joke aside
expect escalation of abductions and killings by BLA, bomb blasts and rocket attacks on infrastructure and targeting of Hazara & Punjabi people in Balochistan.

big cantonments are needed in Lasbela and dera Bughti. thats how nations defend themselves against the insurgencies and foreign funded terrorism throughout history. politicians are busy in point scoring and repeating the mistakes of the past.

I think apart from India there will be two more people who will be sad due to this transfer. 100 greedy rat who lives in Pakistani presidential house because he didnt get any commission and also Mr Raiwand tiger who didnt get partnership in this agreement

oh by the way, Indian concerns are valid (from their prespective) . China is getting very close in setting itself in the worm waters and India will spearhead any kind of resistances that will be put in the path of China to deny this very important sea route

That heavy handed approach is what landed us in this mess to begin with; any solution to Baluchistan lies in it being 'people driven', which is to say Tribal Lashkars supported but not hampered by the Armed Forces of Pakistan & significant development work done in those areas on a priority basis is a must. Some odd number of cadet colleges & technical training centres are far from enough; the people must be helped on the grass root level at an accelerated rate to ensure that the sincerity of the rest of Pakistan is understood & that misguided souls from amongst them do not end up joining terrorist outfits because of the rhetoric of some Sardars or some so-called Nationalists.

What we need is micro-financing in those areas to help the locals setup their businesses, farms, shops etc. What we need is education being imparted to the children of those areas on a priority basis by hiring Private & Public Teachers to go to each village & each city to teach everyone from the Sardar's son to the son of the garbage collector out on the street. What we need is to provide more jobs to the people from those areas by starting public projects therein that are public driven; small barrages, canals, paved roads etc.

We need all of the above on a priority basis across Pakistan but nowhere do we need that more than we need it in Baluchistan to bring it on par with the rest of the country & hopefully exceed it.

I am talking about the cantonments of Pakistan army within Pakistan
not Israeli , Iranian or Indian army .

Bolan Medical college is called boycott Medical college, the schools and colleges remain closed and teachers are threatened with death if they come over to teach.

lets not be apologetics here. spare few thoughts for those countless and nameless labourers, shopkeepers, teachers, doctors and government servants killed due to the lack of security. these oppressed" sardars move armed to teeth in big convoys looking like they are going to start a war.

when you have too many chiefs in the village then you get confusion and people get wrong ideas. Hazrat Abu Bakr r.a helped in removing this confusion when some opportunists decided that they have a chance after the death of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

instead of caring for the sentiments of the bullies with guns and rocket launchers we must worry about our peaceful civilains who are denied a peaceful and safe life.

but whats india's issue in pak's own matters.

its our port our choice. yr not responsible of our ports.

just like we are concerned over the dual treatment in terms of nuclear transfer of technology. they have access to American latest technology in nuclear sciences while we are denied due to Dr Qadir issue.

i never said we are responsible,i said concerned.

by this logic even you shouldnt be coccerned about our missiles, rafale's,our muslims etc.because they are ours.

but still, you show concern, counter our moves, and show sympathy to our muslims.

similarly,we have our concerns.

no one is stopping you.

hope you get my point.

Sir u n i know that very well this issue is just an excuse.they will never give us anyways.

and this nuke tech will be used against us either one way or the other.

But giving the authority of just a domestic post is another thing and giving Nuke tech that too latest is a big n understandably concerning thing.

As long as its not used for military purposes which will harm India's interests, it shouldnt be a concern. But the Indian Defence Minister saying otherwise means that CHina ad Pakistan might be planning something anti-India using that port.
