Kek that's ironic coming from pakistan , also nothing about the article is misleading . If any of you read it clearly, it states the carrier is going to be combat ready in 2018 .

Of course it won't be a lone wolf- that isn't part of the IN's CBG doctrine. The SRGMs will take up minimal space and will be effective against low flying CMs as a measure of last resort, it is good to see the IN thinking outside of the box.

Those are the 127mm from the same maker. Long distance surface to surface.
It shows in the firing rate : 35 rounds per minute for the big guy, 120 for Vikrant's.

Facepalm, thats not Close-in Weapon System per se. Its secondary work is CIWS.

Not when you take a SUper Rapid gun mount fitted with a DAVIDE/STRALES system, for DART guided ammunition, such as on the Italian Cavour carrier. Then, it is the primary role.

AK-630 is not on Vikrant? Lmao.

If it is 40 years old and of no use, why it installed on Kolkata & Vizag class?

IN today's environment, longer range systems are preferable, in view of the proliferation of supersonic missiles. That doesn't mean shorter range systems are in-effective though.

Well said, this system is ideal for a carrier (that has comparatively more space than smaller vessels like destroyers or frigates)
