IN MIG-29K + Vikramaditya

Avionics

Zhuk -ME radar[1]
Infrared search and track system.
SPO-15 Beryoza RWR (Radar warning receiver)

Some corrections for the Indian versions:

Avionics: The MiG-29K/KUB will be equipped with Phazotron-NIIR Corporation's Zhuk-ME radar, which has a range of 150 km in detection mode and 130 km in tracking mode, against a target with a RCS (Radar Cross Section) of five square meters and can also fire missiles at four different targets simultaneously. The radar will have functions for operations in air-to-air and air-to-ground modes, using Thales' TopSight E helmet-mounted targeting system. Both variants will incorporate a ShKAl wide-angle monochrome HUD (Head-Up Display) and the 'K' variant will feature three MFI-10-7 high-performance liquid-crystal multi-function displays, while the 'KUB' variant will have seven such displays. The ShKAl HUD offers a 26° field of view, which allows the pilot to keep an eye on a much wider sector of airspace and use his weapons more effectively in that sector. The 6" x 8" liquid-crystal display has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and can illustrate a digital terrain map & tactical situation data (information about aerial and ground/surface targets), thus enabling the pilot to maintain situational awareness...

...The aircraft will also feature Sagem's Sigma-95 INS cum GPS receiver navigation system. Indian industry will supply the following equipment;

• A radio altimeter.
• An ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) set developed jointly with Russian avionics houses.
• An active ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) pod carried on the #8 hard point under the starboard wing.
• A UHF (ultra-high frequency) radio, which is also fitted to the Indian Air Force's Su-30MKI air dominance fighter.
• Two short-range radio navigation systems (for tactical area navigation and approach/landing) manufactured under licence from Thales

Self Defence: The Russian-made IRCM (Infra-Red Counter Measures) system comprises two 16-round flare dispensers located on the sides of the engine nacelles, below the fins and fire downwards. The calibre of the flares has been increased to 50mm, which increases their burn time & heat signature and thus offering greater protection against heat-seeking missiles. The electronic warfare (EW) suite consists of the indigenous Tarang RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) and Elta's EL/L-8222 ECM pod. A pair of ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) transponders, in the wing strake, are built into the upper surfaces of the main wing.

MiG-29K/KUB [Fulcrum-D]

The main role for Mig 29K on Vikramaditya and IAC1 will be, air defense and sea control and it seems to be suited for both:

- 4 to 5 times lower RCS
- detection of fighters with a RCS of 5m² size, in 120-150Km
- detection of destroyer size vessels in 300Km
- Topsight I HMS + R73 / R77 combo
- similar avionics mix like the MKI has
- up to 4 x Kh31A (up to 50Km), or Kh 35 (130Km) anti-ship missiles
- maximum combat radius, 850 Km/1300 Km/3500 Km (with internal fuel/external fuel tanks/in-flight refueling)

Come on. such posts leads to further baseless arguments. We all have to admit that IN is not a joke infact PN at this stage is a joke. our frigates, naval combat jets are no match for today's IN. RAAD is not the answer to every solution thats why we have a dedicated AShM to be launched from air which are exocet and harpoon and by no means their role will be taken over by a land attack cruise missile. Mig-29 is gonna be a major threat to PN from now on up to 3-4 years until they dont have a new MRCA of their own. carriers dont move alone infact they are escorted by a huge surface fleet including subs and frigates.

No plan for building a new air base in gawadar for now even if it is planned now it will take up to 5 years. and just to let you know the topic is about IN Mig-29K. does Pakistan have somthing like that? NOPE. K is a dedicated naval attack fighter meaning it can take out enemy sea targets more effectively then the latest block 52+ that PAF is going to have. and again. RAAD is a land attack CM not a AShM and only exocet and harpoon can fill that air launched AShM role not RAAD.

hey buddy. then why do Indians require Mig-29K? why not use the Mig-29A? both have same design both fly same. :hitwall:
I am not in favor of M2K9 for naval attack role but the latest mirage-2009 leaves old IAF M2 far behind. IAF dumped the upgradtion plan for its M2 fleet in favor of the russians mig-29.
 You dont require "MASTER PILOTS" to drop PGMs LGBs on bunkers when their is no electronic warfare, AIR, Ground threats around.

Are you trying to say pakistani and talibani terrorist werent carring anti airfract guns and launchers? Mirage flew all over the kargil buddy. i hope u know what i meant. Why aint u in favour of mig-29K Buddy? Just because its most deadly or are you trying to say old mig-29 can do the job as pakistan dont stant a chance?

IN IAF IA first have to induct brahmos in its inventory then dream about next step.
btw... their is something called CIWS and anti-AShM systems on frigates. PN is not using some 17th century pirates ships.

Buddy i take that biggest joke of the new year. Brahmos been inducted in navy since 2005. Its now 2010. All future ships india building and russia building for india is fitted with brahmos. India plan to induct 500 to 1000 brahmos. Few around 20 to 30 would be require to counter pakistan's war ships.

Ok how about modified JF-17s with CFTs and air refueling capabilities atleast initially a couple of squadrons...

"We need dash 9 Mirages agree with me"

there in absolutely NO news about Pakistan interested in M2K-09 :undecided:
we need it but we have not seen any official statement about it

better idea will be to develop JF-17 N for purely maritime role

Pathological liar indian, this is not the thread to talk about your street masala news. exactly who were these "talibani" terrorizing in kargil war? civilians? or Indian army? I think Indian army... so why use the term "terrorists?
lets just leave this BS to this....
btw Anti-aircraft guns are only effective at low flying and slow moving targets.

Don't you want longer range planes for Maritime role.

The Block 60 F-16 is more suited for that.

longer range

If it was to me i would have went for Rafale M but we have to see out limitations

M2K-9 will be great but then again there is NO news around for PAF talking to UAE for it

the cost effective solution will be too replace Mirage III/V with M2K-09 but as there are no signs for it so develop JF-17 for Maritime Role :undecided:

Well in that case, JF-17 will need to have larger fuel tanks.

And also modified to fire anti ship/submarine munitions.

Also can the JF-17 fire a cruise missile if not then i see no hope of them ever challenging a carrier group otherwise.

If Mirage III can fire Ra'ad ALCM what makes you think JF-17 won't be able to do it :pop:

Am a liar now? So according to you india faught only pakistan in kargil war? India defeated pakistan and ur ex-ally taliban buddy. Now to destroy gwadar are you saying mirage wont be good enough? But you did said india droped LGB from mirages by extreme heights. Now is LGB a firecracker buddy? LGB falling on gwadar will benefit gwadar port? After watching mirages in kargil war i see gwadar as easy kill. Anyway our ships traveling in arabian sea will do the job by the help of Brahmos. We dont need to send mig-29k or mirage. Dont take it on heart buddy and no need to call me liar. Just prove what u trying to say like taliban aint terrorist and mirages aint good for droping LGB.

Indian M2Ks drop LGBs form 100s of kms away
wow Man Thales must have learnt about the Pods used by Indian M2Ks :hitwall:

Targeting Gawadar won't be a walk in the park, have some sense

i was just asking a question, I dont have any knowledge of Cruise missiles that are fired from JF-17.

just pondering what kind of modifications may be needed

Hitting targets in kargil war too wasn't piece of cake or walk in the park emo ji. In a war everything is possible. Mumbai and gujraat aint far away from your gwadar port. Our war ships always petrols arabian sea ji. Specially after 26/11. All our ship needs to do is stay around 280 KM away from gwadar and fire brahmos. Kaam tamaam gwadar ka ho jayey ga ji.
