What's new

IMF:Bangladesh GDP 249 Billion USD, Per capita 1,525 USD in 2017.

Indian Per capita gdp is now stand 325 dollar higher than Bangladesh.Bangladesh expected to narrow this gap in coming years and eventually overtake much to the discomfort of Bhakt/Shanghis who are engaged in a smear campaign against Bangladesh for the so called 'illegal Bangladeshi' which is nothing but demonstration of severe inferiority complex on part of them.

And Indian per capita will get lower? God what are you guys invoking India in everything?

You're right, changing base years mean nothing, it's just a magic that India's growth rates shot up after 2013, co-incidentally the same year when India changed it's base year from 2004-05 to 2011-12.

And the projections of higher GDP growth over the completion of infrastructural projects are facts.

Why do you think the govt. is so hell-bent in building that bridge?

One state Maharastra has more GDP than ur country combined. 380B$. Tamil Nadu has 210B with population less than 50% of your own. Its 80 million by latest estimate (though officially 72 million). TN per capita is 2200 USD. First cross some of the Indian states, then you talk of crossing India.

And Indian per capita will get lower?
Not lower but per capita of BD will grow more quickly.

More specifically you should say Mumbai. This city has created all the difference. But Mumbai suck resource from all over India.Mumbai have 2 percent of India's population but 10 percent of India's economy. This shows how much economic imbalance going on in India. This city is a giant leech.

2200 USD per capita of 80 million people translate to 176 billion dollar economy not 210.

BD per cpaita income is already higher than India.
It is per capita GDP is lower for BD. Its mostly had to do with government spending as well as smaller government.

Dont jump on me as I dont have time to argue this time. Very busy. Dig in....
Kindly refer to first post of the thread then discuss with facts.

Official data is 210B. 2200 is the bare minimum. I have the estimates only taken at 2013-14. Though I am not an expert in economics, doesnt matter. GDP per capita of some Indian states are way long better than Bangladesh and many Indian states will surpass BD GDP in coming future. And Bangladeshi GDP is higher only cos of 160 million odd people.

No they wont.
GDP of BD and India is growing at a similar rate. And it is the most poorest Indian states that have the highest growth rates.

If anything BD has got more potential to increase it's growth rates as there is a larger "infrastructure deficit" than India.

This is a myth perpetuated by Benagli's . In 1971 and 1972 your GDP per capita was ahead than both India and Pakistan . If you got independence in 1971 that does not mean your per capita went back to square one .

Lol.

BD was literally run dry with having to transfer a huge part of it's wealth to support Pakistan army and infrastructure.

An independent BD in 1947 would now be far richer than either Pakistan or India.

Roll the cursor over to 1971/72/73/74 and you will see no decline in per capita after the war for Bangladesh . BD posters are acting as if BD had to do catching up in per capita when infact it remained the same .

This is not true.In 1970, West Pakistan's per capita income was Rs. 504 and East Pakistan's was Rs. 314.This is 61 percent higher in West Pakistan. In 1950, West Pakistan's per capita income was just 4 percent higher than East Pak.It was due to continuous transfer of resource from East to West.East Pakistan's trade surplus was used to finance industrialization of West Pakistan.80 percent govt. jobs(95 percent in military) went to West Pakistani citizen. Although East Pakistan was contributing about half of the revenue budget.Economic discrimination was one of the factor for agitation for provincial autonomy.

Am talking about after the war because BD posters like to claim that they had to start from square one when that wasn't the case . After the war in 1971/72 BD's per capita remained constant to what it was pre-war .

There is something wrong in that graph. That graph even showed Bangladesh's per capita income even higher than Pakistan in some years of 1960s.This is ridiculous. In 1971 war, almost all the transport infrastructure and millions of houses, factories were destroyed.10 million people became refugee. There were no foreign currency in the central bank(actually there was no central bank in Bangladesh,it was in Karachi). Agriculture were severely disrupted, there was food shortage, actually shortage of everything. So how can it be as good as unscathed economy of Pakistan or India? This question you should ask to yourself.

Really some people think a BD with no central bank no foreign reserves almost no infrastructure had a better per capita GDP than Pakistan...ridiculous

Why we are comparing ourself with India? The way Bhakts are gaining momentum in India, It is right on the path of Self Destruction. You think the Mandir Wohi Banaynge generation will be able to compete with us? Please Compare with economies that will sustain in the long run . Thank you.
