IMAGINE...AN OCCUPIED AMERICA

Off topic:

There are probably more guns owned by private individuals in the good ol USA than the rest of the world's military.

On Topic:

In reality, I don't see any threat materializing beyond the analogy of Mr. Ron Paul, a very senior and respected member of the U.S House of Representative.

does that matter? are you really falling for the low IQ dumb american white myth that private gun ownership deters organized armies with tanks, artillery, bulletproof vests, helicopters and strategic bombers?

i used to not believe in IQ but seems like speeder was right, not all people are created equal.

True...Not all IQ are equal and it looks like you got the short end of deal. You and otheres often took jabs at the US for not eradicating the Taliban, who has no air force or navy, but here you are adamant that a formal military will be able to invade, occupy, and defeat a population -- US -- that is more armed and well trained in their weapons than the Taliban.

.
Guess there are no enemies powerful enough to invade the U.S. that Ron Paul started fantasizing about them. Still thinks that aliens are better candidates than either the Russians or the Chinese.
You missed the point that Paul was trying to make, which is not that anyone can invade US and occupy the land, but that how would Americans feel if their country was occupied the way the US has our presence in other countries. Paul's error is the overly broad context of 'occupation'. We are occupiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, but not in the same historical context as the Romans or Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan. We do want to withdraw from the countries we currently are in power but the mentioned three never did want to withdraw from the lands they conquered.

nope, I haven't said anything about the US not being able to defeat the taliban, ever. the Taliban is clearly being militarily devastated. Whether that is enough to achieve US objectives is a completely different question.

Ron Paul puts forth a very simplistic version of events, either he's wilfully ignoring the intricate sectarian politics of Iraq or he is really ignorant to come up with such trash.

Ron Paul is the only mainstream US politician who is a true Libertarian.

He is not ignorant. Not by a long shot.

He is a man of principle.

Only thing that can occupy America are Zombies

If some entity ever decide to invade the US, they must consider the guns the "dumb Americans" carry.

There is a reason why CIA fact-book lists population available for military service, the following is for USA,

Manpower fit for military service:
Field info displayed for all countries in alpha order.
males age 16-49: 60,388,734
females age 16-49: 59,217,809 (2010 est.)

Yes, every country has a huge population avaliable for military services. The thing is, in a real war the civilian population of ANY country can pose significant resistance; this resistance in the case of the US wouldn't be significantly higher than any others because it is not a function of weapons avaliable, it is a function of the will to resist. Most americans are in the US only because of the money; if the US economy collapses then they'll either flee the country or become enemy supporters. Who is going to risk their lives for the wall street sharks?

We tried minding our own business after WW I and it worked for a while. Then our "friends" got in so much trouble that we just had to help them out. Since then we have been afraid of the mess that would occur if we went back to minding our own business. Perhaps it's worth a try again. After all, if the USA stopped meddling then the Arabs and Israel could have it out once and for all. China could take care of Asian matters, easily solving the Kashmir issue by sitting on India. The Russians could keep the Europeans in line by controlling their home heating supplies. Hugo Chavez could be in charge of South America. Nobody wants to be in charge of Africa, but China hasn't had a real go at being an imperialist for centuries so it could "shepherd" Africa, too. Then here in the USA we could finally help Mexico get its act together and maybe even erect real trade barriers so that our homegrown industries re-kindled.

Sounds good to me!! Ron Paul for President!

Mostly agree with you except for the "Ron Paul for President". But hey, we are a free speech country.

Not only should we pull back our military, we should also take back the industry base we are giving away to China.

It's high time we start making our own appliances, TVs, Radios, etc.etc. We put our own people to work, and rebuild our economy.

We built our Nation from scratch, now its time to repair it.

Let them "over there" duke it out - we can talk to the one left standing.

This may sound coldblooded, but there are way too many Nations out there that take our money and military aid for granted.

I am all for keeping our money for our kids and grandkids.

Yep, most Chinese would still stick with China even their motherland is a third world sh!thole, but i don't think it would be the same case for most Americans.
Talk about an absurd argument. If your country is that third world hellhole, you would not have much of an opportunity to flee to someplace better, even less if the government is a dictatorial one more concerned with keeping a population oppressed to rule over than in making a good name for the country. Looks like China finally learned that lesson...

And rights and freedoms that are alien to you Chinese boys.
