Northeast students question 'racism' in India

GUWAHATI: With stars in their eyes hordes of students from India's northeast region head towards various parts of the country during admission season. However, previous episodes of unsavoury treatment meted out to northeastern people is what haunts most of them.

"Media is abuzz with episodes of attacks on Indians in Australia, but many of the incidents of attacks on India's northeastern people in India itself remain shrouded in oblivion. We condemn the attacks on Indians in Australia but we want an end to abuse and beating of northeastern boys and girls, mostly in India's capital city. All the cases are of racial nature," Madhu Chandra, spokesperson of North East Support Centre and Helpline, New Delhi said.

"As students from northeast India have already started coming to New Delhi, we are in touch with students' associations of all the states of the region in Delhi to help the newcomers to settle down in a new city," added Chandra.

The centre also runs a helpline service with phone numbers - 98681 84939, 98183 14146, 98681 57066, and 98105 54901 and e-mail address info@nehelpline.net .

The centre was formed on Sep 22, 2007 to address the issue of safety and security of northeastern people in Delhi, as they are often target of "racial attack", according to Chandra.

"Not only Australia, India too is racist," Gyati Talo, a 32-year-old teacher and blogger from Arunachal Pradesh, who did his graduation from a reputed college of New Delhi said.

"I was being chased and verbally abused by a bunch of youngsters in a Delhi lane. They abused me because of my short stature and mongoloid features. After the incident, I stopped coming out alone at night during my three-year stay in the city," Talo said.

According to the figures available with the centre, around 100 cases of physical and verbal abuse, molestation, rape and beating of boys and girls of the region were reported in Delhi in 2006 and 2007.

"However in 2008, we received only three episodes of attacks on people of northeast India in Delhi. But they were of heinous nature, pertaining to sexual assaults and beating of women," rued Chandra.

This year, till May, the centre had received 12 complaints of harassment, rape, physical and verbal abuse of northeastern people in Delhi.

"It's sad that students from northeast India who go to study in various parts of India have to undergo racial prejudice. My daughter also studied in New Delhi. I was surprised when she told me over phone during her stay in the city that her fellow students in the colleges calls her a 'chinky', because of her mongoloid features and she was depressed," said noted Assamese poet and columnist Samir Tanti.

"Calling someone 'chinky' (referring to small eyes) is racial in nature. I know all the northeastern are known as chinky in Delhi and other parts of India," the poet said.

According to an estimate, every year around 80,000-100,000 students from eight states of the region (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura) go to various places of India for higher studies.

Favourite study destinations for northeastern students are New Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.

"However, it is New Delhi from which cases of abuse and harassment are very common," said Chandra.

Mahima Gogoi, a resident of Guwahati who scored 85 percent in Class 12 examinations in arts stream, wanted to take admission in one of Delhi's colleges.

"One of my cousins was severely abused in Delhi a few years back when he was a student. My parents do not want to send me to Delhi. Thus I have decided to study in Guwahati," said Gogoi.

However, Arunabh Bharadwaj, who scored 89 percent in his Class XII exams in arts stream, is unfettered.

"I am all set to study in Delhi. I am aware about all the incidents of abuse and harassment of students from northeast in Delhi. But it is my dream to study in Delhi and simultaneously taking coaching classes for Indian civil services (IAS) exams. So, I am taking the risk to fulfill my dreams," said Bharadwaj.

Interesting case about "NE sub-humans" by typical Indian:

An open letter to North easterners, courageous enough to publish it here, please do so, if scared, don’t.

Oh, lets start by getting things straight, what is this? A Whining little chink from North east? What happened can’t get along with the realities of life in India?
Basically, If you find it so difficult at handling the truth, you might as well as pack your bags and leave through one of the major airports in India in an international flight out. You do have the freedom.
Lets start, over the last 60 years, our government has spend crores of rupees and thousands of lives of our brave soldiers on your ungrateful, dog eating, subhuman species that are infesting the north eastern corner of our nation. That money could have been well spend on our own people, our children, our education, throughout India instead on a bunch of whining slitty eyed gooks like you.
North east was never meant to be a breeding ground for you, but a clearing ground for us, We already have to deal with Islamofacist nuts from Pakistan and our northern borders, the last thing our independent nation needed was communists from China and other dog eating crap flowing in from Myanmar becoming a threat. North east was meant to be a buffer zone for our people. We admit that. The biggest mistake our troops did was to let your people alive and breed there, what should have been done, was to clear that area out, and kick your dog eating chinki under developed, subhuman tribals into myanmar, or outright exterminate them. Extermination would have been a better solution.
This would have lead to a healthy and quiet buffer zone between Myanmar/China and India’s eastern frontier with Assam, where Hindus live

Sadly that didn’t happen, and hence over 60 years we had to deal with pests like you leeching on our government, our soldiers blood and our resources, that could have otherwise spend elsewhere throughout the country.
There is nothing much in common between Aryans /Dravidians or Indians or Hindustanis as I call them and with you whining losers.
Each time I come across a North easterner, they always whine and complain, me and my mates had lots of fun in our university days, making a mizo chink clean our toilets, and drink our piss, we ragged him like hell, and the guy just farted out his frustrations against our nation in hand, its amazing how a little bit of pressure can bring out all the truth from their petty little brains.

CONTINUED FROM TOP PREVIOUS POST-

India doesn’t need whining chinks like you, we just need your land to be the buffer zone , not you. We poured out crores of rupees into Mizoram every year, and what was the result? No industries, nothing. You are just leechers. Bunch of leechers, compare that with Gujarat or Punjab or other industrialized states , you havn’t done nothing.
Lets move onto cultural issues, Mussies and their Arabian prophet has already done enough damage to our nation and its values, the last thing we need is a bunch of dope smoking, aids infested , half evolved nuts like you getting their garbage into our society, why ? What for ? When your *** problem came in Mizoram, you blamed our country for it, basically shows, you cannot handle challenges of nature properly, to do that you need a fully evolved intelligent brain, that your “tribe” doesn’t possess. You could have eaten the rats, but no, you went in , revolted, and created disturbance, the IAF bombing was necessary to show you, your pathetic little place in society and the world. Amazing how its brought you whining in all 4 paws down to your knees ? Now you want to “integrate” sure, the first rule of integration is, stop whining and complaining CHINK.
A bunch of chinks perished whining, so in Mizoram in 1950s ? You can pack up and move across the border and live with a bunch of loosers in Myanmar and enjoy a summer of dope and sex, no one is stopping you, good riddance to bad rubbish.
India has many other problems to deal with, our people have the need for clothing, food, education, security, there isn’t enough for handouts to your pathetic Mongolian tribe, if you need it, why not start a sex tourism industry like your chinks in eastern lands such as bali or Philippines or Thailand? You can mint a lot of money that way , that can keep your subhuman race satisfied.
The amount of money and resources spend in trying to “maintain peace” in north east, could have been used to secure our northern borders, and deal with muslims, but no, its all being spend on north east, the solution? Complete extermination or complete expulsion of these insignificant and whining mizos.
A good mizo is a dead mizo, period. We can do much better without gooks like you crawling into our cities, and leeching on our resources, and then whining on about how boo hoo we call you chinks. You know the word Chink has nothing negative, it clearly indicates, describes and establishes the truth about your people.
Your ugly aids infested wh0rish women and your ugly men, including your butt ugly face and nose, and eyes clearly deserve the word Chink.
I can tell you one thing for sure, once we have dealt with the Muslim problem in India, you are next. And yeah, I am not the only one who believes in this, I have lots of friends, in multinationals, government and other areas who agree and share the same belief as me, that your people are a liability on our country, our resources and a clear evident antipode of our values and social culture.
Do us all a favor kima, stop whining about your chinkiness, take your crap and complains and go hang yourself from your ceiling fan, I am sure you won’t be missed or even acknowledged as existed in India
If we meet you on the streets, man, we are gonna have lots of fun.

Oh on a final note, you may have “some” buddies from our so called “sickular” india, basically pathetic morons, or those who just don’t have enough backbone for their own country or culture, would bend backwards enough to kiss your dickless front.

Most of us, don’t care about your crappy people, hump thump and dump is what we do to your ugly gookish females, and bash, smash, and trash is what we do to shorties like you. But go to admit, you ain’t that much of a nuisance compared to piggy mohammed’s followers and the koranic trash they spew.

Yes, this brings back memories to how India feels about ALL 'slit-eyed, gook, commie chinkies'. Sad thing is they treat ALL East Asians and ASEAN (including Myanmars) this way. Why so many Hindus in India this arrogant, racist and stupid??? Good thing some Hindus outside India are endowed with some intelligence to know better. I always wondered why so many ethnicities and nations around the globe had such strong resentment towards Hindu Indians, and I would stand up for Hindus. But we can only tolerate so much. They are creating their own karma. :hitwall:

And this Indian also confessed that "the IAF bombing was necessary to show you, your pathetic little place in society and the world." So much more for you to read, please do digest this utter *****.

.
Basically their confessed that Bharat STOLE CHINESE (or as many Hindu refer to as "Mongolian tribes") LAND, and they should have GENOCIDE ALL of these Ch1nkies, but regret they didn't "finish the job".

Let's talk about human rights here, shall we?

Two North East Sisters Molested by 25 Men at Delhi

Police Refused to Lodge Complaint

25 men molested two north east sisters at Gandhi Vihar, New Delhi on January 5. They along with their young brother were severely beaten by culprits after molestation. Timapur police station refused to lodge First Information Report (FIR). Fact Finding Team of NE Support Centre & Helpline rushed to the spot to extend the help and gave trauma counseling to the victims.

Victims told NE Support Centre & Helpline that their complaints were not taken by police officer on duty, rather girls were told to identity the culprits then FIR will be registered. Police did not have women police when the victims were taken to Timapur police station and no medical treatment was provided to the injured victims.

The Fact Finding Team have sought to approach higher authorities to book the accused. When police have not taken the complaint, victim had to seek help from media. Victim told NE Support Centre & Helpline that police has scolded them for informing to media.

Manju came from Indo-Myanmar boarder called Moreh. After completing her Graduation Science runs a cyber cab in Gandhi Vihar on lease to support her sister and brother who are pursuing for Medical studies and later for technological study.

North East Girls in Delhi & NCR Continues to suffer

On December 23, NE Support Centre & Helpline was reported that a girl from Manipur working as a receptionist in a private company was molested by her boss in the office.

A minor NE girl in Gurgaon still suffers after she was molested three times in last December by house owner. Police initially reputed to take the complaint, but molestation charges is registered against the house owner after approaching Commission Police Gurgaon, but till the filing of this report, accused is still roaming free and personal belongs to the victim are still under the custody of the house owner.

Nearly 50% of sexual assault happens in Delhi and NCR has happened to the girls from North East India. North East Support Centre sees it as serious concern for the safety of the community from North East India.

The finding of NE Support Centre & Helpline is that the main reason behind targeting north east people in Delhi and NCR is the mindset of people. “The north east people are citizen of India, should not treated differently because they look different” In most of the cases, police do not take complaint at first approach; police duty officers had to wait until flashed and instruction from higher police.

Yes, this occurs commonly to Japanese and Korean female tourists as well. After the "Incredible India" marketing campaign scores of tourists from around the world came to visit/work in India (including myself). Numerous abuse, rape, theft and a few racial-motivated homocide incidents occured. Imagine these tourists returning home and telling their stories of how the police often WATCHED while this was happening.

One notable example was 2 Japanese ladies who attending some religious celebration outside and they were gang-raped by several dozen men, while POLICE WATCHED AND IGNORED THEIR CRIES FOR HELP. When they reported it to the Indian authorities they were IGNORED.

Now do you know who listened to their stories, yes NHK (Nippon's National TV) and tens of millions of people. Same thing with UK, German, Russian tourists. There have been hundreds of cases.

NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN TOURISM DROPPED! With this 'unexpected' sudden loss in revenue, several Indian ministers and a high profile 'Bollywood' actor panicked. You see, Ch1nkies are not sub-human. They are instrumental to India's progress and development. LG was about to build India's first (and only) IC mfg plant, but in the last minute pulled out - citing "unsuitable environment" as reason. Now try to understand this with your severely handicapped intellect: You guys need us Chinky Gooks MORE THAN WE NEED YOU! :yahoo::china::pakistan::pop:

Is India racist?? Prejudice faced by people of northeast

Current News | Latest News | Breaking News | Nagaland News - MorungExpress.com - Is India racist?? Prejudice faced by people of northeast

Atsei Neikha

The recent wave of racial attacks on Indian students in Australia is the top story that is doing the rounds on all electronic and print Medias. Sequence of events that followed thereafter in a nutshell…….
• Indian government holds talk with the Australian prime minister in the spate of this mounting racial mugging on Indian students.
• Thousands of Indian students in Australia take it out to the streets.
• Animosity grips the entire nation of India as well.
• The icon of tinsel town Amitabh Bachan snub’s an Aussie honour because of these string of attacks on Indians.

This incident brings to the public domain the concord of the Indian masses in the rise of any kind of prejudice meted out to their people. But what if that someone is from the northeast, would the approach of the people still be the same?

I wager the answer would sadly be in the negative. There are myriad northeast students studying in mainland India who are subjected to discrimination in one form or the other. So is our mongoloid origin to be held accountable for the turn of adversities? A good number of mainland Indians literally presumes that northeast people are still primitive and “JUNGLE” is their haven.

Well incalculable number of people actually had the impudence to ask me, I heard people in Nagaland eat snakes? Not only snakes I retort infuriatingly we eat everything that has life even humans…we are hardcore cannibals. Well, that reply certainly keeps them raking their brains. Some actually take the bait.

All these outlooks are formed on baseless hearsays from people who have never stepped foot on the northeast soil. The state of northeast hardly recovers any media coverage at all and the only time when the issue of northeast receives the spotlight is when there is a factional clash in Nagaland, Manipur or a bomb blast in Assam. That explains why most of the people are still ignorant about the real northeast.

Northeast girls are especially the vulnerable victims of discrimination with a series of molestation and rape cases which transpire almost on a daily basis. The annoying fact is that the police usually treat such matters with levity when that person concerned is from the northeast.

They refuse to file an FIR even after repeated appeal by the victim. As a result the perpetrators often get off the hook. Racial discrimination in any way is an offence which ought to be dealt with an iron hand. If bulk of the Indians can unite and fight against discrimination to one of their kind then why not for the cause of the minority as well. If northeast is a part of India then why are its people alienated from the rest of India? That’s the question that needs to be debated.

.
I would also like to point out that your human rights record is vastly UNDER-STATED since you REFUSE TO RECORD THESE INCIDENCES. Even after these reports are written, they may be later thrown out or ignored. I mentioned the 2 Japanese ladies incident, others actually involved the INDIAN POLICE OFFICERS (yes plural) TAKING PART IN THE RAPE AND THEFT.

Imagine when you can't even expect the Indian police to protect you. These foreign tourists know this is how India does things, so many don't even both reporting UNTIL THEY RETURN TO THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES.

India Civil Society, Helpline for the northeast

EVERY year thousands of people, especially young girls, come to Delhi from the northeast of India to study, work or just make the city their home. Invariably they find themselves at the cruel end of a divide that is marked by personal affronts and attacks on their modesty. The girls, far from home and struggling to cope with the pace of life in the big city, are seen as easy prey. The boys take small jobs as store hands and find that they are pushed around and not given the same benefits as other employees. And those who may just be in jobs that bring them to Delhi on postings find that their northeast identities are rarely ever understood. In 2005 Lansinglu Rongmei, who is from Manipur and practises as a lawyer in Delhi, and her friends formed the Northeast Support Group to help young migrants. She has circulated her own mobile number (9818314146) because in moments of high stress the all-important thing is to get that call through. In Delhi most helplines don’t work and the police invariably do not manage to intervene to prevent an episode or provide counselling. Till date Lansinglu’s group has recorded some 50 cases of sexual assault, non-payment of salary and sexual harassment. “Delhi is not safe for any woman, and over the years there has been an increase in incidents of molestation, sexual harassment, rental problems and non-payment of salaries for the people from the northeast, especially girls,” she points out. Says Lansinglu: “A major problem arises when a northeast girl tries to raise an alarm. As compared to her north Indian counterpart there is no support forthcoming from bystanders. The police too don’t take her seriously and rarely file an FIR. That is where we come in and help them lodge complaints, give legal assistance and counselling.”

Lansinglu who has been working as a lawyer for the past 10 years says, “People don’t realise the day to day difficulty people from northeast face. There was a case of two young girls who were looking for a small flat to rent. They paid the landlord the first instalment and fixed the day when they would move in with their luggage. The day they arrived with the luggage, the landlord refused them entry into the house and even denied they had paid him any money.” Girls are harassed in different ways. “At call centres they are pushed for sexual favours and when they refuse, their salaries are not paid or cabs are not sent for them,” says Lansinglu. “Not just girls, boys too are harassed,” she adds. “Some days ago, there was a case of a young northeast boy who worked at the Pizza Hut in the Priya cinema complex.” He had not been paid for one and half months. As he had to go back home, he asked for his salary. He was told that he would be paid in instalments when other boys working there were paid on a monthly basis. “We know of such cases, but so many of them go unreported because people from the northeast are simple and don’t know whom to turn to for help,” says Lansinglu. “We have asked ourselves what could be the reason for the discrimination we face, but have come up with no concrete answers.

Chances are that the locals feel threatened as people from the northeast are vying for jobs in retail call centres, beauty and fashion industry, hospitality and sales. Employers seek youngsters from the northeast because they do not indulge in politics, are honest, hardworking and always polite.” The northeast states face a huge problem of unemployment. There are high levels of political and administrative corruption and lack of institutions for higher education. Youngsters in these states realise they cannot live on government dole and they have to venture out in search of work and a new destiny. Coping with change and facing the challenges to their identity is a part of that process of moving out. At 20, Ayesha Gayatri Gurung, a First Year Miranda House student from Gangtok, Sikkim, says, “People in Delhi are very racist. They treat people from the northeast as backward, tribals, and ‘fast’. I am called Ayesha Chinky in my class. The general knowledge of people is so bad, they know very little about anything beyond Assam. Although I went to Mayo Girls, Ajmer, and my education is North Indian, this is one attitude we have to constantly fight against.

When Shilpa Shetty went to ‘Big Brother’ everyone rooted for her and took up cudgels for her being racially discriminated. What about racial discrimination in our own country?” Lanu Songla Lemtur, a young Naga student in her final year B Com Honours, recalls how in her first year she was often asked, “How long have you been in India?” Her indignant reply, “My whole life,” left many incredulous. Says Lanu, “I don’t know if this attitude will change because some of the teachers initially used to say ‘you are from there you will need to pay attention and work harder.’ There is hostility that students from the northeast join colleges on quota, but that’s not true. For every one northeast student who gets a quota seat, 10 others from the same region join on merit and this should be acknowledged. I made it into the first list of selected candidates on merit.” Lanu is all set to do her MBA and says that she does not let racial comments bother her. Her advice to any first year student is to be headstrong and not flighty so people cannot take advantage of you. “Not too many know of our culture and the equal status girls enjoy in our societies, so we must use that to our advantage. ” It was an effort to find her “own identity and answer my question of where I belong” that led Leenoor Foning from Kalimpong, a third year psychology student, to undertake a study on why people from the northeast are treated differently.

Having lived all over the country, Leenoor had more friends from the north than from the northeast. She found that when she joined the college hostel, the way the northeast girls looked set them apart as they usually grouped together. Leenoor’s fledgling study covered 120 students from different colleges in Delhi of which 90 were from the northeast. “My study found that students from the northeast faced a lot of stress for coming into an environment which was different and unfriendly. Almost all the 90 students from the northeast feared for their safety,” she says. Lansinglu and her friends are conducting legal workshops to empower and educate the young from the northeast.

India No Stranger to Racism :: KanglaOnline ~ Your Gateway

By: David Buhril

As a person from the North East of India, bearing Mongoloid stature, feature and colour I cannot help but say that my personal experiences in Delhi, the capital city of India, have witnessed numerous slurs of racist fork. They were not soft ones. I am not alone to be subjected to such indignities.

Everyone from the region has his or her own stories and experiences, which have been rather silently buried. I know such vocal attacks have, on many occasions, resulted in violent anger, arguments and fights between the so-called “mainstream” people and the people from the North East. Mother, they are racist lot. Unfortunately, I have actually accepted the inhumane practice as a part of the culture of the “mainstream” people. A culture cultivated by the “sink of localism and den of ignorance”. But that doesn’t mean I accept racism.

The outrage explosion over the “racist attacks” on one Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty by her white housemates on British reality TV show are an exaggerated one, even when racism ought to be condemned everywhere. The drama that has been unfolding for about two weeks made it obvious that Indians are ready to talk about Indians being racially discriminated outside India. But what about the equally serious condemnable racial discrimination within India?

Did we ever care to raise the issue and put a question to ourselves? Are we blind to it because we practise it indignantly? If Shilpa Shetty was called a “****” by her white’s housemates, the Indian citizens from the North East states are still called “Chinese”, “Chinky”, “Japanese”, “Koreans” or “Nepalese.” If Shilpa Shetty was poked for her poor chicken cooking style, the North Easterners are poked for their “dirty”, “foul smell”, “stinking”, and “junglee” food habits. There were times when North East students living in the Capital city of India had to actually ask their landlords or hostel warden, “What smell is allowed to cook and what is not?”

Through all these years, it was not an easy ride. I realised that it resulted out of the much-celebrated diversity of India, which is quenched by ignorance and chauvinism. As culture clash, the ride demanded tolerance and understanding, which was not an easy one. I have accepted the discrimination that is, otherwise, getting negatively popular in the ancient city. Day in and day out, friends, acquaintances or people who are new to the city would narrate their experiences, which are more than enough to put the nation to shame. I was lately wishing there was some sort of reactive internal ministry, like the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) that reacted immediately for Shilpa Shetty, to look into the disturbing situation of racial discrimination in India.

I wonder if the media, general public who overflow with sympathy and empathy for Shilpa Shetty, or the authorities in the government are aware about the pubs, restaurants and discotheques in Delhi showing no entry to people from the North East of India? The grim situation does not care even if you have money. They care about your colour. That’s how they made the judgement and decision. You bear the Mongoloid look and the door is closed before you. So don’t be surprised when those bouncers did not let you in. India’s democracy has too big a space that it grows racism too.

When I was first told about these public places and their sick practise in Delhi some four years back, I was taken aback. Shocked actually. But I said to myself who cares when I will never be seeking comfort or chilling out at these places even if I have money for the purpose. On the other hand, my second thought resulted in anger, desperation and helplessness over such harsh inhumane practice. It is still alive and going strong. For me it is not about these places, but the racial discrimination practised in these places, which is getting more popular than before. It affects me as I also bear the same colour, feature and stature, which are used to judge a person. If you don’t fit into their scheme of colour, you cannot be a customer. In the growing urban Indian market the password is defined by the colour of your skin. I thought it would be colourblind. I thought it would be race-blind.

So I asked how they made their options. They told me that they have to find a place that accept and admit them despite the colour of their skin. Even then, how can we enter, eat, sit, and dance away as if we never care? As if it is nothing. Is this a surrender to racial discrimination? When we learn to accept that one cannot enter that place, eat there, dance there, or sit there because the colour of one’s skin is different, we realized that the other Indian is much alive. The others in the village.

The situation is grimmer for the girls and women from the North East. Due to the colour of their skin, they were popularly believed and supposed to be an “easy” and “cheap” sex prey. They were victimized lot. Delhi is a living witness to that. Asked them? Everyone has a story. A story untold. A story filled with shame and anger. They represent the silent untold stories. My cousin’s white husband was shocked and surprised when he found that his wife and her friends, all from the North East of India, were not allowed to enter to eat and dance in one of the city’s public places during one of their visit to Delhi recently. The reason was out of a judgement where the colour of their skin was already used to decide them to be a customer or not. Delhi never seems to care as places like these multiply with inhumane norms and rules defined by race and colour.

I am not talking about stray or isolated incident. This is about everyday life and struggle in Delhi. Shilpa Shetty’s experiences and the feelings and sympathy that we have, as concerned citizens, exported to England should be immediately imported back to Delhi to understand and redress the racial bruises of the other Indians. They are being discriminated more than what Shilpa Shetty could imagine. Worst, they are not paid for it. It is beyond the MEA’s jurisdiction to talk about the racial discrimination that is seriously taking place in India. But on moral and humanitarian ground, it could if it is so concerned about racial discrimination and not just Shilpa Shetty. If not, authorities of the several internal ministries, media, NGO’s and concerned activists should immediately step in to kill the colourful game that has already become shamelessly popular and dirty. The celebration of diversity has no meaning if the nation remains silent to the domestic realities of racial abuse and discrimination. India is no stranger to racism.

Now what can you expect when they treat foreigners just as poorly? Imagine a dignified Japanese lady being subjected to this inhumane treatment. Doesn't the GOI realize this is not the way to 'impress' foreign investment. Imagine being treated like an idiot by a bunch of folks who don't know how to wipe their ***** with toilet paper? Some folks know how to treat non-Indians properly. But for India to progress she needs to learn to (1) be humble, (2) respect others, and (3) clean up the country from corruption, ***** and pollution.

Bhutan was formed when chinese set up a kingdom there. ...

Well said, brother!

The national flag of Bhutan is a vivid proof: with a dragon that occupies a central position.

As we know, that type of dragon is a typical sign of Chinese culture.

The main difference of Bhutan dragon from that of Chinese empire is that the Chinese one has claws of 5 fingers, where as Bhutan dragon has only 3 fingers.

According to some study, in most cases, 3-finger is a sign of subordinate position that is at least two levels lower than Chinese emperor: 4-finger is for renowned emperor’s relatives.

Thank you Communist for exposing this grim crulty!

Frankly, where is the western noise for human rights now! Are they all blind?

Given that fact that Indian Parliament is filled with either criminals or alleged criminals and billionaires, who perhaps also get rich in a criminal way, no one can expect the situation will change except revolution.

NEW DELHI: The new Indian parliament seems both rich with criminals as well as billionaires, as 300 of its 543 members are billionaires while 180 are millionaires.
Further, 150 MPs have criminal charges against them.
...

Indian parliament blend with billionaires and criminals

I'm glad there are many reasonable posters at TOI (Times of India), who mostly are from the NE. Please read below. One writer even admitted that the NE should be part of China.

I'm a victim of racism in India: Mizoram CM

Arup ,India, says:Dear editor, Racism is a reality in India. Most, if not all girls from the NE face racially biased sexual abuse- physical or verbal- in North India. But sadly for many people, racism matters only when Indians (with brown color) are at the receiving end but is not a big deal when othrwise. Even our prime minister is apt at talking to another country's prime minister to fight racism but he doesn't even condemn racism against his own countrymen (from NE) at his backyard. Ironically Dr Manmohan Singh represents Assam in the parliament. So far the Mizo CM is concerned, probably he used the wrong forum, but that brought something to focus which the mainstream media and politicians ignore blatantly. Regards

praveen,Canada, says:Its a truth, that we Indian are more racist than anyone else. Minister didn't mentioned all the other racist comments he and people from his region is facing in India. Go to youtube or any other forum, North Indians hate south and south hate North. west hate east and east hate west. even people from one state hates peoples of other state. its ridiculous. I have seen North Indians being more racist than anyone else in India. Calling madrasis, making fun of dark skin, accent etc, than in east.

MAHENDRA GAUR,JAIPUR,says:Hats off to the CM. He has shown the guts to call spade a spade. We are one of the worst kind of racist when it comes to untouchability. But if he had raised the issue within family, it would have been better and more Indian.

Elangovan,Chennai, says:India is a racist country, well it is not a country really, just an accidental collection of people, rustic, aggressive and stupid north indians, intelligent but timid and docile south indians, and parts that should have rightfully been part of china such as the northeast and sikkim. Anyone can see that the 'core' perception of an indian is only of one that comes from the cow belt or northwest india. Such a country is unwieldy and will come apart the moment there is an external shock. That shock can well be china. North indians are a very racist stupid group, this is the reason india can never be a successful country, though it is blessed with intelligent southerners.
