What's new

If I were a dictator, I would introduce Gita in Class I: Supreme Court judge

These people claim to be from RSS makes me worried. Just about every person who claimed to be from RSS on this forum, seems to have no concept of social values and disdain for everything moral.

I guess being a member of the RSS is no more a shameful thing in India :P ..... everybody seems to be claiming it nowadays.

Not very possible in today's world. A whole lot of kids are what are called latchkey kids. Kids at home without adult supervision since both parents are away for a large time in office. The sociological impact of this phenomenon will be evident in a few years down the line with growing aggression and complete lack of empathy. As a society, we can collectively share responsibility and progress or regress into chaos.

Well sadly that' true, when both parents are working children are supposed to **** up in life,so yes atleast some degree of moral values should be taught but not to much to make it a burden

Maybe they can write their own Mahabharata and Bhagwat Gita too based on their life experiences ? :cheesy:

You are not trying to understand what i am saying, what i am saying that focus should be on what Values kids should have Respecting elders,Honesty,Integrity stuff like that & that can be taught by parents & as for teaching Mahabharata and Bhagwat Gita, that's fine as long as you don't burden kids with so much studies that they turn out to be Nerds wearing XXL shirts

 Worried for RSS' future then.

yes trying, but not too hard. Might as well read wendy doniger.

Had Mr. Malhotra not highlighted the inaccuracies in Doniger's works, then all of us might as well have bought her version of Hinduism. Still if they are inquisitive, one thing leads to another and they are digging for the genuine stuff sooner or later.

What's with the Fat jokes ? .... you have something against fat people too ? ...and the nerd jokes ?

Considering the amount of corruption, theft, discrimination etc. in India, are you sure you want the same people to teach their kids how to be good human beings ? :woot::woot::woot:

You want a corrupt govt. official to teach his kids honesty and integrity ? ....... a doctor who refers to his patients to a specialist for commission to teach his kids ethics ? :P

You really have some weird ideas about the qualifications required to teach somebody.

Hindu system of Nyaya is founded in logic and rational thought. Ethics and morality are taught by debate not by rote learning like memorising the quran.

Piggy on the railway picking up stones. Along came an engine and broke Piggy's bones. "Oh!" said Piggy, "That's not fair." "Oh!" said the engine driver, "I don't care."

What values do you think rhymes like these teaches kids?

RSS can fight islamic extremism, but how can it fight human stupidity ?

Wiki is full of prejudiced and wrong info on hinduism and quote christian experts for pretty much all its data.

I was wondering if to be acceptable to the secular folks they have not started encouraging stupidity itself in its cadres.

Not all the people are corrupt & thief's many of them are honest too.You tell me what is gonna effect a child more Teacher giving a half an hour or an hour lecture about Moral Values or his father leading with an example on how to be a honest person by refusing to pay a bribe to a corrupt govt official.

I actually feel they are looking at the wrong book here. I remember similar thinking around the 2007-2008 period, when people were trying to apply Sun-Tzu's art of war to management and wanted to find the equivalent in India. Everyone was saying Bhagawad Gita...IMO Artha Shastra is a lot more in common with the art of war and management in general.
