Did Hawaii willingly became a united state territory?Hawaii—a U.S. territory since 1898—became the 50thstate in August, 1959, following a referendum inHawaii in which more than 93% of the voters approved the proposition that the territory should be admitted as a state. There were many Hawaiian petitions for statehood during the first half of the 20th century.
The overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii began on January 17, 1893, with a coup d'état against Queen Liliʻuokalani on the island of Oahu by foreign residents residing in Honolulu, mostly United States citizens, and subjects of the Kingdom of Hawaii.[4] They prevailed upon American minister John L. Stevens to call in the U.S. Marines to protect United States interests, an action that effectively buttressed the rebellion. The revolutionaries established the Republic of Hawaii, but their ultimate goal was the annexation of the islands to the United States, which finally occurred in 1898.
In 1897, William McKinley succeeded Cleveland as United States president. A year later he signed the Newlands Resolution, which provided for the annexation of Hawaii on July 7, 1898. The formal ceremony marking the annexation was held at Iolani Palace on August 12, 1898. Almost no Native Hawaiians attended, and those few who were on the streets wore royalist ilima blossoms in their hats or hair, and, on their breasts Hawaiian flags with the motto: Kuu Hae Aloha ("my beloved flag").[76] Most of the 40,000 Native Hawaiians, including Liliʻuokalani and the royal family, shuttered themselves in their homes, protesting what they considered an illegal transaction. "When the news of Annexation came it was bitterer than death to me", Liliʻuokalani's niece, Princess Kaʻiulani, told the San Francisco Chronicle. "It was bad enough to lose the throne, but infinitely worse to have the flag go down."[77] The Hawaiian flag was lowered for the last time while the Royal Hawaiian Band played the Hawaiian national anthem, Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī.

Did Hawaii willingly became a united state territory?
You just agreed to what I said. Read your own post. How was this an invasion?Did Hawaii willingly became a united state territory?
not local Hawaiian , the local USA citizen who resided in Hawaii . it was a coupe backed by usa committed by USA citizen backed by 162 Marine from USS Boston , in the name of protecting USA citizen , they prevented the monarchy to defend itself against the coupe de etate as they were USA citizen and when ever the royalist wanted to counter them they faced US MarinesPlease read. On Jan. 17, 1893, Hawaii's monarchy was overthrown when a group of businessmen and sugar planters forced Queen Liliuokalani to abdicate. The coup led to the dissolving of the Kingdom of Hawaii two years later, its annexation as a U.S. territory by local request. It only became a state after a referendum and the US agreeing.
Newly inaugurated President Grover Cleveland called for an investigation into the overthrow. This investigation was conducted by former Congressman James Henderson Blount. Blount concluded in his report on July 17, 1893, "United States diplomatic and military representatives had abused their authority and were responsible for the change in government."[67] Minister Stevens was recalled, and the military commander of forces in Hawaiʻi was forced to resign his commission.[citation needed] President Cleveland stated, "Substantial wrong has thus been done which a due regard for our national character as well as the rights of the injured people requires we should endeavor to repair the monarchy." Cleveland further stated in his 1893 State of the Union Address that, "Upon the facts developed it seemed to me the only honorable course for our Government to pursue was to undo the wrong that had been done by those representing us and to restore as far as practicable the status existing at the time of our forcible intervention."
The Jan. 29, 1893 edition of The New York Times recounted the events of the coup. On Jan. 16, Hawaiian Marshal Charles B. Wilson attempted to arrest the committee members and declare martial law, but his attempts were turned down by other government officials who feared violence. The next day, after a police officer was shot and wounded trying to halt the distribution of weapons to the Committee of Safety’s militia, the committee decided to put its coup into action. Near the queen’s ʻIolani Palace in Honolulu, the committee’s militia gathered and were joined by 162 U.S. Marines and Navy sailors who were ordered by John L. Stevens, U.S. Minister to Hawaii, to protect the committee. The queen surrendered peacefully to avoid violence. You just agreed to what I said. Read your own post. How was this an invasion?

honestly I wonder what sort of History they teach you guys in USA. here at least when they teach us Iran History they teach us whenever we attacked other countries.
the queen did not abdicated , the queen relinquished her power temporarily to stop any harm to her subjects , because at the time Cleveland and Congress were holding an investigation and she expected after the investigation her power would be restored to him.Gosh wish you would read your own posts. President Cleveland himself punished the soldiers that were guilty of abuse. That's why it was only accepted as a protectorate / territory as there was no other lawful presence after the Queen abdicated. It was only after the referendum years later that it was admitted as a State.
162 Marines is not exactly an invasion force. They did not become a state till August, 1959
and those 162 marine have orders to protect the ones who committed the coupe. so they were part of it , an invasion force don't need to be 10000 , those 162 illegally landed in a sovereign land and participated in overthrowing it's government well i wonder what you call them if for example they were from USSR not USAI, Lili'uokalani, by the Grace of God and under the constitution of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Queen, do hereby solemnly protest against any and all acts done against myself and the constitutional government of the Hawaiian Kingdom by certain persons claiming to have established a Provisional Government of and for this Kingdom. That I yield to the superior force of the United States of America, whose Minister Plenipotentiary, His Excellency John L. Stevens, has caused United States troops to be landed at Honolulu and declared that he would support the said Provisional Government. Now, to avoid any collision of armed forces and perhaps loss of life, I do, under this protest, and impelled by said forces, yield my authority until such time as the Government of the United States shall, upon the facts being presented to it, undo the action of its representative and reinstate me in the authority which I claim as the constitutional sovereign of the Hawaiian Islands.
January 17, 1893
go ask the government not me , there is a thread about it , this one is about some other matters . here some people had the misconception that people of Hawaii willingly relinquished their sovereignty , I wanted to explain even till today they didn't relinquish it and more importantly Hawaii Royal family never ever abdicated the power to anybody else. so Hawaii was an invasionCan your scummy government let Nazanin Go please!

its her statement

by the way , Cleveland punished those participate , but it won't change the fact that USA army in fact did invade a sovereign land , if Cleveland was honest why he didn't reinstate Hawaii monarchy, why USA accepted annexation of Hawaii without even a single native Hawaiian want it. only a committee consisted of 13 usurper and some foreign merchant wanted that annexation and
here nobody stated those areas as parts willingly become part of USA , here if they talked about California , I'd have not said anything. if they have talked about Texas I'd have said nothing , but the Case of Hawaii is completely different.Still sound like an invasion to you? btw the US has several territories all over the world both inhabited and uninhabited. You don't see us invading them do you? Here is a list of States and territories.

that law will not recognize the right of Native Hawaiian to Independence and getting separated from USA if natives of Hawaii accept it , it will be like renouncing their right to independence and accepting the annexing of HawaiiIn 2016, the Interior Department passed a rule allowing native Hawaiians to vote on establishing an indigenous government, similar to the way Native Americans on the mainland have established sovereign nations
were in that piece or newer constitution is came that the monarch can't propose a change to the constitution ,were it gave them the right to those 13 people to make coupe de etate .were it gave the USA marine the right to support the coupe ?https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smar...out-liliuokalani-last-queen-hawaii-180967155/
The devil is in the details they say. So I'll copy and paste some parts here:
"In 1887, when David Kalakaua still reigned, he was forced to sign a new constitution by an armed militia controlled by the Hawaiian League, a group of lawyers and businessmen. That constitution called the “Bayonet Constitution” transferred much of the monarchy’s power to the legislature, which was elected with voting restrictions favoring non-Hawaiians. When Liliuokalani ascended to the throne, she refused to honor the 1887 constitution and proposed a constitution giving more power back to the monarchy.
