ICC to halt Pakistan's 2011 visit to England: Report

LONDON: ICC is expected to tell Pakistan that they will not be returning to England next season, as a sequel to allegations of spot-fixing controversy, media reports said on Sunday.

According to 'The Sunday Telegraph', England was going to be Pakistan's second home as long as the security situation in their country was desperate.

The Pakistan- Australia Test series held this summer was intended to be the first of several neutral series staged here.

But at the ICC chief executives meet in Cape Town tomorrow, the ECB CEO David Collier is not going to offer Pakistan the same facilities for 2011, as a consequence of the recent decline in the tourists' popularity.

Earlier this year the ECB had hoped that Pakistan would play India in England next summer, which would have been a real money-spinner as the two countries meet so seldom and have such large and passionate following.

But such fixtures are neither possible nor desirable after three Pakistan players -- Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer -- were suspended by the ICC while they are being investigated by Metropolitan Police.

According to the report, there is a small window for a one-day series between Sri Lanka -- the other country to tour England next season -- and Pakistan to be staged in this country in July.

But disappointing attendances for many of Pakistan's games this summer, and the controversy involving the tainted trio, with the possibility of more charges to follow, have led to the official change of attitude towards Pakistan's future.

England shelves plans to host matches between Pakistan and India

PAKISTAN'S latest match-fixing scandal appears to have destroyed the goodwill shown towards the country's stateless cricketers.

The England Cricket Board is believed to be on the verge of abandoning any future series as host of Pakistan home series.

While International Cricket Council and police investigations continue, the dual effect of negative headlines and poor gate receipts has pushed the ECB towards blocking the use of their venues for more matches to follow Pakistan's series against Australia earlier this year. Australia played two Twenty20 matches and two Tests against Pakistan in England, drawing the Test series 1-1.

This would leave the Pakistani team with nowhere else to play "home" fixtures other than Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where they are scheduled to meet South Africa in five one-day matches and two Tests from late next month.

Pakistan has not hosted international cricket since the Sri Lankan team and ICC umpires and officials were almost killed in a Lahore terrorist attack during March last year.

The ECB had harboured thoughts of hosting matches between Pakistan and India in the British Isles, but those plans, alongside more modest ones to host a one day series between the Pakistanis and Sri Lanka, have now been shelved.

"Nobody is thinking about that one any more," an ECB official told London's Sunday Telegraph.

Although a number of figures including Australia captain Ricky Ponting have urged the international community to not shun Pakistan for the alleged corruption of four players, it seems inevitable that the country will be treated harshly.

There has been universal sympathy for Pakistan cricket, with the Marylebone Cricket Club sponsoring the recent Pakistan-Australia matches as the Spirit of Cricket Series.

The MCC has since become more cautious regarding dubious cricketing countries, cancelling a fact-finding mission to pariah Zimbabwe on government advice.

Last month's devastating News of The World expose showing a Pakistani player agent receiving pound stg. 150,000 ($250,000) to fix three specific no-balls during the fourth Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's has shattered any faith in the team.

The situation was made worse when the incompetent Pakistan Cricket Board refused to stand down those named pending police and International Cricket Council inquiries, forcing the ICC to act so the trio named could not play in the Twenty20 and one-day series against England.

Test skipper Salman Butt and seam bowlers Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif returned home last Friday to hundreds of protesters at Lahore airport after they were suspended by the ICC.

Pakistan may lose neutral UK venues

PAKISTAN'S cricket future has grown more clouded after it emerged that England administrators may rule out further neutral matches in Britain.

Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif have been suspended by the International Cricket Council following allegations of deliberate no-balls in last month's Lord's Test.

While investigations continue, the effect of negative headlines and poor gate receipts has pushed the England and Wales Cricket Board towards blocking the use of its venues for more matches to follow Pakistan's series against Australia earlier this year.

This would leave Pakistan with nowhere else to play ''home'' fixtures other than Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

And that makes you happy?

Which of his posts reflect happiness?:undecided: This is sad. Very sad indeed. But I'm afraid this won't be the last time such things are happening in cricket be it in Pakistan or India or anywhere else in the world.

Although what amazes me is that PCB has a culture of protecting tainted players. May be the recent match fixing allegation were true may be they were not. But Afridi ball chewing scandal was particularly shocking. It was outright and in-your-face cheating yet PCB made afridi captain. That was disgusting. It sent a completely wrong signal. You cannot indefinitely shield such people and at the same time continue to hope that everything will remain hunky dory.

PCB failed to stem the rot and unfortunately Pakistan and in a much larger context world cricket (on behalf of missing such exciting cricketing action) is paying the price.

this is an extremely unwanted fall out of the derogatory actions of a few shameless players.....the ICC of all bodies should act in a restrained manner to rejuvenate Pakistani cricket given their enormous contributions to this sport through all these years.....bias by the ECB is still somewhat understandable but ICC ??? .....an equal share of all the ICC managerial and executive posts is very essential for South Asians to be treated equally....Sharad Pawar has clearly turned out to be a limited help as President .........

Now I got the reason
Welcome Sharad Pawar,Good bye Pakistan cricket

It is good that they will be playign in Dubai and Abu Dhabi cause we sucks on green pitches

Abu Dhabi pitches are more like Pakistani and Indian pitches where even a "slogger" can play long innings and make his name from the world.

Bhai mere, it is only because the ICC chief is an Indian that pakistani players are still neither banned nor arrested nor has the series been cancelled. You know why? Because if he says anything against Pakistani players, millions of Pakistanis will jump at him saying "Bloody Indian ICC Chief". That's something he'd never want. Even more so because he's also a minister of GoI. That angle of India-Pak relations must also be weighing on his mind. Especially after the way Indian govt. was blamed for the action of private buisiness houses during IPL.

You should be thankful that an Indian is ICC chief. Otherwise the goras would have banned Pakistan as a cricketing nation altogether.

Please get over this blame game obsession and put your PCB's house in order or else more such incidents will follow.

Sharad pawar is only a medium for you to vent your ire against India.

Just answer my one question, do you seriously think things would have been any better for Pakistan cricket, if not worse, had Pawar not been heading the ICC?

If your answer is 'yes' then you do not know zilch about racism against blacks/browns in international cricket.

You should be thankful to Pawar otherwise things could have been much much worse.

thats just what you think .....if it was not for him ....pakistan cricket would have taken a huge leap backwards with most senior members of the Australian board and ECB administration calling for tougher actions against the PCB....thank him for resisting hardliners like Malcolm Speed with a daggers eye out for South Asian players....

perhaps you should remember Hair and the Oval test .....even after all the controversy and accusations of racism hurtling left , right and centre the ACB still managed to get him reinstated to the Umpires elite panel.....as I recall there was merely a very "feeble" protest by the PCB......

I hate this attitude. I wish Howard or some other right-wing Aussie had been the president of ICC at present. Such a person would have imposed a life ban on Pakistan.

I really hate it when people simply start off their conspiracy BS - India did this to us, India did that to us... AAAARRRRRGGGH :hitwall:

Bhai mere admitted that he will never show that he is doing anything against Pak cricket even if he is doing it.After all you guys are not that much fool
But Why soon after his Arrival we saw the press release from ICC announcing the test Cricket hosting nations till 2015 & Pakistan was not included in that list even when the situation is getting better in Pakistan & the succesful operations in Sawat & FATA have brought Peace in many cities & no matter one can Assume that the situation will be getting better. How can anyone can predict about 2015.:smokin:.
Even the decision of not organizing matches in Pakistan till 2011,12 or 2013 seems logical.but why damn 5 years
Does ICC take decisions after consulting astrologers? :what:

NOTE:Ramzan Bombings were not happened on that time.So maybe my assumption that ICC consult astrologers before taking decisions is right

Admitted that PCB and our players have provided Raw material for all of this But who utilized this Raw material.
ECB?
Why should they when they are getting handsome earns by organizing matches.
And Racism part is not that much take part nowadays especially if someone is winning the matches.
And please stop this BAN BAN logic why they should be banned when they areproved innocent BUT

Why ICC HURRIDLY BANNED THE PLAYERS?
WHY AMIR'S NAME WAS REMOVED FROM ICC PLAYERS OF THE YEAR LIST?
WHY ICC DIDN"T WAIT FOR THE INVESTIGATION BEFORE DOING ALL OF THIS?
WHY EVEN AFTER PLAYERS ARE PROVED INNOCENT THE BAN ON THEM HASN'T LIFTED?

About malcom part,For your information malcom is proven racist & he also said bad things about pawar & was not happy with him.then why pawar will listen to him when he was against pawar?

Yes that could happen,But why pawar will ban pakistan when he can do much more damage to Pakistan cricket by not banning it !.

Now in future the allegations of matchfixing will always sorround the pakistan cricket team. When we will win matches or lose matches we would be looked suspiciously.
Let me tell you this policy of not banning PCB is very similar to the state policy of India of declaring Pakistanis terrorist & Bad people :azn:.Because after this our every win or lose will be looked suspiciously

AAAARRRRRRGGGH :hitwall: I hate when people say anything against india is conpiracy :hitwall:
