ICC and BCCI are fully anti pakistan what ever they are doing it causes probleums for pakistan exapmles are

World cup out of pakistan

oval test result changed once again ICC went against its own decision

now we see awards tottaly given those players who do not deserve

Tilkeratna dilshan what he did in T 20 yes he played good innings and he given award on basis of batting which is easy on the batting wickets and his team lost in final

umer gul was 100% should be given to T20 award becoz he given pakistan place in final and all time best figures in T20 5/6 and best bowler ever in T 20 history has overlooked by ICC awards we all know it is not easy to bowl in T20 it is batsmans game but ICC thougt that tilekratna dilshan is good enough

dilshan was good but not better than umer gul for sure for the award

and what did dhoni have done specially for indian answer is nothing but he was given icc test and odi and best player of the year award for odi this shows how ICC is incompitant

and ghambir scored just 2 centuries nothing more than that and younis khan who scored 2 hundreds and 319 overlooked by ICC

i think ICC closing their eyes when pakistani players perfoms

if even indian players do ....................... they watch what a crap ICC is

recently SIR RICHERD HADLEE advices to ICC stop listening BCCI

i know 80 percent of money for icc comes from indian it doesent mean if india ask icc to give them world cup they will give to them

i think ICC should learn lessons from FIFA which give similar right to its members no matter what they are france and sengal treated similarly

that is the matter why cricket is not a fair play and that is why ICC do what ever but it will not going to be played globally becoz it never treated its members equally thats why it is dying today if ICC do not change its mentality to members and kept treating members like this cricket will lose passion in the world for sure

they say spirit of cricket i think they should shut up

and it is working for us we win T20 WC when no one have rated us to win but we took them with surprise and u should see the face of david morgan when he gives T 20 WC to younis khan he was not happy becoz his daddy money is going to the enemy of his daddy

becoming the sixth winner of the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, after being named as the ICC World Player of the Year at cricket's annual awards ceremony in Johannesburg. Johnson, who shot to prominence during Australia's memorable series win in South Africa in February and March, claimed the title ahead of his fellow nominees, Gautam Gambhir, Andrew Strauss and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Johnson was a surprise choice for the title, not least because of the massive and very public crisis of confidence he suffered during Australia's Ashes defeat in England, particularly in the pivotal second Test at Lord's which England went on to win after Johnson's first-day figures of 3 for 107 in 19 overs. But when he got his game right he was nigh on unplayable, as his sensational performances against South Africa demonstrated. With 80 wickets in 17 matches, he was the most prolific strike bowler of the year, and he also recorded his maiden Test century and an unbeaten 96 against South Africa.

"I'm really blown away," said Johnson. "I am just surprised to be up here. It has been a great 12 months for our side. We have lost some wonderful players in recent years and we have been rebuilding with some young guys in the team and we have played together well."

India's star opener, Gambhir, was named as Test Player of the Year, after an impressive haul of 1269 runs at 84.60 in the eight Tests during the qualification period. "It's been a dream run for me. I never thought it could be like this but life has changed for me and I am very happy," said Gambhir. "As a unit we have played very well and I am just glad to contribute to the overall success of the team."

Mahendra Singh Dhoni retained his title of ODI Player of the Year, seeing off competition from his team-mates, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag, as well as West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Dhoni played 24 ODIs during the voting period, scoring 967 runs at an average of 60.43 and strike-rate of 86.63, and also claimed 26 dismissals as he led India to 17 victories including a 5-0 demolition of England.

Tillakaratne Dilshan was a worthy winner of the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year award, after capping a sensational World Twenty20 tournament in England in June with a show-stealing 96 off 57 balls against West Indies in the semi-final. His performance at The Oval, in which no other Sri Lanka batsman managed more than 24, included two sixes and 12 fours, and though Sri Lanka went on to lose the final to Pakistan, Dilshan was nevertheless named as the Man of the Tournament, with a total of 317 runs at 52.83.

Dilshan is perhaps most notable for his signature "Dilscoop" shot - a flick-shot over his, and the keeper's, heads - and as he accepted his award he was equally proud to have coined a new term in cricket's lexicon. "I'm really proud of myself for having a new shot named after me," he said. "That shot has given me confidence. If I am under pressure I can play that shot and put the pressure back on the bowlers."

Australia's fast bowler, Peter Siddle, was named as the Emerging Player of the Year, after claiming 49 wickets at 28.93 in the 12 matches since his debut at Mohali in October 2008, including five-wicket hauls against South Africa at Sydney and England at Headingley, both of which led to memorable victories. Siddle beat his fellow Australia seamer, Ben Hilfenhaus, to the award, as well as England's Graham Onions and New Zealand's Jesse Ryder.

New Zealand's cricketers were considered to have conducted themselves better on the field than any other nation in 2008-09, as they claimed the Spirit of Cricket award for the second time, having also won during the inaugural Awards ceremony at Alexandra Palace in London in 2004. The judgement was made by the ICC's umpires and match referees, in conjunction with the ten full-member captains, and Daniel Vettori accepted the accolade on behalf of his colleagues, only 48 hours after reversing a run-out appeal against Paul Collingwood in their must-win group match against England.

"I think most teams within world cricket aspire to the intangible notion of the Spirit of Cricket," said Vettori. "It's not easy to define but I think when you get out on the field of play most guys know where that line is and most play the game in the right way. If we can couple the Spirit of Cricket award with the ICC Champions Trophy then we will be very happy indeed."

Pakistan's Aleem Dar ended Simon Taufel's monopoly to claim the Umpire of the Year award. It was the first time that anyone other than Taufel had picked up the accolade in the six years that the ceremony has taken place.

South Africa's spearhead, Dale Steyn, is the only player to retain his place in the World Test Team of the Year, with last year's captain, Graeme Smith, missing the cut to accommodate World Player of the Year nominees Gambhir and Strauss at the top of the order. Dhoni takes over as captain; AB de Villiers, Sachin Tendulkar and Thilan Samaraweera make up the middle-order, while Bangladesh's impressive allrounder, Shakib al Hasan, is chosen as the spin option alongside three quicks in Johnson, Steyn and Stuart Broad.

Six countries were also represented in the World ODI team, and just as with the Test side, there's only one survivor from the XI named 12 months ago. Dhoni was last year's wicketkeeper, and now he is captain as well, having been picked alongside his team-mates Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh.

Three Sri Lankans - Dilshan, Ajantha Mendis and Nuwan Kulasekara - also feature, as well as two Englishmen, Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen, neither of whom have played a part in the side's remarkable revival during the Champions Trophy. West Indies' Chris Gayle, Pakistan's death-overs specialist Umar Gul, and New Zealand's surprise package, Martin Guptill, make up the numbers.

England's women - World Champions in 50-over and 20-over cricket this year, were rewarded for their dominance when their star player, Clare Taylor, was named as the Women's Player of the Year. Taylor, 33, scored 565 runs in 18 ODIs an average of 70.62, and 230 runs at a lofty 115.00 in England's six-match World Twenty20 campaign.

Ireland's captain, Will Porterfield, was named as the Associate Player of the Year, after leading his side to nine ODI victories in 11 fixtures in a memorable season that also included qualification for the Super Eights stage of the World Twenty20.

World Test Team of the Year: Gautam Gambhir (India), Andrew Strauss (England), AB de Villiers (South Africa), Sachin Tendulkar (India), Thilan Samaraweera (Sri Lanka), Michael Clarke (Australia), MS Dhoni (India, capt & wk), Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh), Mitchell Johnson (Australia), Stuart Broad (England), Dale Steyn (South Africa), Harbhajan Singh (India, 12th man)

World ODI team of the year: Virender Sehwag (Ind), Chris Gayle (WI), Kevin Pietersen (Eng), Tillakaratne Dilshan (SL), Yuvraj Singh (Ind), Martin Guptill (NZ), MS Dhoni (Ind, captain, WK), Andrew Flintoff (Eng), Nuwan Kulasekara (SL), Ajantha Mendis (SL), Umar Gul (Pak), 12th man: Thilan Thushara (SL)

I will not call them anti-Pakistan but I will certainly call them pro-India.

Shahid Afridi should have been the player of the year for T-20.

Emerging player should have gone to one of the young Bangladeshi cricketers for doing so well against the WI.

Ricky Ponting or Greame Smith should have been the captain of the Test side.

This is really pathetic and I think ICC has completely lost the greatness of this game in their greed of funds from India.

Don’t pay any attention to these biased people guys. The best answer we can give them is by winning this champions trophy and next world cup.

yes u made the point here if we winn CT we will see heads od david morgan and lorgat will come down very soon as it did in T20 dhoni, gambhir should not won the award for sure they have not done anything speciall and ICC is patetic soon they have to pay by making cricket unfair play and passion will lost out of the game very soon i hope other boards of the world too see it very carefully and launch campagin against ICC and BCCI of not taking other nations equally and today pakistan is paying the prize but i will not be too long when other nations will be effected from BCCI dominance over ICC

without other member countries ICC and BCCI are nothing thats why tournaments like ICL come in becoz ICC and BCCI do not care of merit and fair play

well I heard last year Graeme Smith blamed ICC for listening BCCI too much just because they are the biggest source of income for ICC. SA performed well last year and yet they were not given too many awards and all credit was taken by India........ samething happened again

Is there any big trophy India won in last couple of years? but still they are being awarded for everything.... if you compare Afridi and Dilshan you find Afridi had played most valuable innings for Pakistan in t20 and also taken useful wickets so he deserved a lot more than him in T20. Afridi improved massively in ODIs and destroyed Australian line up in recent series and proved to be a great bowler but still did not even get a place in the ODI team of the year.

What the hell Gambhir did for India in 2009? he played only 3 test matches and was awarded the player of the year?

Where did Dhoni performed in the whole year? why was he named Captain of the both ODI and test teams although Smith was a lot better than him? whenever SA needed he stood up for SA and lead from the front...... but Dhoni was failed to unite his team on tense situations.... so many things man.... just as smith said, ICC is being controlled by BCCI these days

again agreed with u sir good points u made in them i hope other players should blame them tooooooo

JOHANNESBURG: Outraged by the exclusion of South African players from the ICC annual awards nominations, Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola

has questioned the credibility of the list, saying he can't figure out the selection criteria.

"To me, it looks like the only way to get on these nomination lists is to play the Ashes," Majola fumed.

"Unfortunately, our players don't play for England or Australia. That seems to be the criteria to select these awards. I don't know what the criteria are for these nominations but I simply can't believe that this has happened to South African players," the CSA chief said.

"My personal opinion is that this doesn't lend credibility to this year's awards, for sure. To rub salt to our wounds, the awards ceremony is being held in our country," he added.

None of the South African cricketers were picked for the final nominations, dominated by Indians, Englishmen and Sri Lankans.

Majola said the selection panel for the awards' nominees seems to have completely ignored the Proteas' excellent Test and One-day performance last year, during which they also became the world's number one side in both forms of the game.

"I am totally dismayed and disappointed. The last season was one of the best ever for South Africa and there were a lot of outstanding performances by our players," Majola said.

"In my personal opinion, there were at least three South African players who should have figured on the shortlist. But I am not going to name them because I don't want to drag our players into this issue when they are preparing for the Champions Trophy. I haven't spoken to them about this either," he added.

Former pacer Allan Donald, who was a part of the selection panel, said he had nominated a couple of Proteas players and was surprised to see none making the final list.

"I am surprised to see that there is no one from South Africa in the final list," he said.

The nominations for the individual awards were voted by a five-member ICC panel headed by Clive Lloyd, the ICC's cricket committee chairman. The panel included Anil Kumble, Mudassar Nazar, Bob Taylor and Stephen Fleming.

i hope same statement have came from pakistani side but it is unfortunate for how long we stop

yes fpr sure i hope pakistan cricket board also make a stong statement statement against simon taufel and also to awards MR doctor shah also demanded removal of taufel from ICC panel this is first time he made a mistake which he easily given on any other day out and not out but he did it delbretly

big deal, india needs to buy its success and plaudits by throwing money at commentators and pundits since they dont have much talent as a nation.

this will be the pattern, get used to it.

The Indian team was doing very well till the T20. We won most of the matches we playedin India or outside. We were the one who. could challenge Australia in thier home. On the other hand Pakistan was hardly a force played few matches and hardly one anything. Do you have such short memory Indians were touted as next no 1 by lot of people including Pakistan. Do not just look T recent results. You guys are making fool of yourselves all this awards have method to arrive at winner. By just winning 1 world cup in which you were hardly consistent you cannot be a good team. Where is consistency guys how many good teams you played and won.

If India had an umpire , no doubt best umpire award would also be given to them.

this is not intelligent...Do you remember Inzy's last tour of india as captain?
where in the final match he was wrongly judged caught by the wicket keeper by some Indian umpire?the videos showed a very very bad decision as the ball was miles away from the bat...the only Indian in the ICC's elite panel of umpires was then removed from the ICC's elite panel and was criticized by our media too...the BCCI did want him to be re-instated....but he wasn't
till date there is not one single Indian umpire in the ICC elite...you blame the umpires for your loss calling them influenced by us...did we not have bad decisions against us in the all important Indo-pak match?
had suresh raina been given not-out we might have won!
it's a part of the game...as far as the awards are concerned...our team has finally got some match winners and has been doing good...I don't see how the BCCI might be influencing the ICC..
