Can you guys answer post no. 7 with respect to your countries...China and India...

@Two @yjdlbcj @kasper95 @Ajaxpaul @Laozi @navtrek

With regards to India, you should look at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or Chennai for pure demographics. ( High spending income, techies )

There are numerous malls as well as street fashion corners.

But now, with the rise of middle class, tier 2 cities offer better alternative ( less expense to set a business )

Pune, Chandigarh, Kochi, etc.

I usually charge a consultancy fee for this - but what the heck - happy to help for free here.

1. You will burn cash setting up retail outlets. None of the big brands make money from their outlets - they actually lose in cities like Bombay given the high rentals.

2. If setting up retail outlets, open a store in a small town and see the response.

3. Ideally, completely cut off opening your own retail outlets and tie up with a multi brand retail chain like Westside, Reliance Retail etc. but they will squeeze you on the margins

4. Online channels is huge business. I don't know your brand - but tying up and selling your products through Jabong, Myntra, Flipkart, Ajio, Tata CLiQ etc. not only reduced your overheads drastically, they take care of shipping and returns. But they too will squeeze you on margins. Still a good route.

Many firms even with deep pockets like Under Armor are completely selling only online in India.

There are many variances within states and even within cities which come into play. Also look at import duties and custom clearances. Where are the products being made etc.

Hope this helps

In my state kerala different types of textile shops are there... Like
1. Franchise of good brands like Adidas, Levi's, Raymond, live in- These sply concentrated in main roads in cities, malls etc.

2. Big textile shops with 5 or more floors- Each floors for each sections... Children's ,men's , wedding etc...- concentrated in cities...Eg: Kalyan silks, Alukkas , Chennai silks..

3. Big fashion stores inside big malls... Will get all types of cloaths in different ranges... Concentrated in cities...Eg: Lulu mall fashion stores, Reliance stores, Big bazaar etc...

4. Small boutiques with only limited number of fashion designer dresses... Can see now every corner in small aswell as big towns and cities...

5. Old retail textile shops in small towns...

Before a decade retail stores were the main players in the market... But now scenario changed... Now the 2 nd & 3rd group, that is big textile shops & fashion stores capture the market... They are selling wide variety of cloaths attracting all class of customers... They can sell with huge rebates and discounts, because each groups have many big shops in various cities... They take cloaths in bulk quantity from manufacturing outlets...
Franchise stores are mainly aimed on high class customers...
Now online textile business is growing very fast... Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, myntra... like big players & Hundreds of small online stores are there...

Guys...I am not much into this...Please guide me, in Pakistani/Karachi context...

1. Where should he open his outlet in Karachi? Defence? PECHS? Tariq road? He want to cater middle and mini class...Which location should be good for his outlet?

2. What is trend among youth/middle class when it comes to buying trouser/T shirts? What do they look for when buying it?

3. Which brand of trousers and t shirt is popular in karachi/Pakistan?

Karachi is top of the all earning market for commodity like this. However, now a days, there is nothing as such called wearing brand but it is all about style & in fashion. Allow me to say that sometimes Karachites are way forward than rest of the country when it comes to launch new trend in market and fewer times does foolish acts too. Above all, being large with populace, this city actually consumes everything available in market.

He should open outlet at Tariq Road. Touser/T-shirt should be attractive and good quality, dont worry about purchasing power. When he/she like any piece of cloth, definitely they will purchase..!!

Hello to all Pakistanis, Chinese brethren and Indian neighbors :)

I am in hurry...I told my American partner that I'll advice you as he is going to open outlet in Pakistan, China and India of clothing (Trousers/T-Shirts)

So, question is? What does youth (middle class of these three countries) look for when buying Trousers and T-shirts? Which brand they prefer mostly? what is popular brand among masses?

Do they buy loose clothing or tight ones...I know it depends on person to person but still in general what is market trend/fashion in these three countries when it comes to Trousers and T-shirts?

Please advise

Thanks

He should open his store in famous cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore etc. Pakistani fashion is also changing very quickly so your friend can keep up with it. Try using popular designer bands.
