'I had the honour of flying your brave son'

. .
Rest in peace .......brave soul........
may god give strength and courage to the father and mother of the saheed.....

.
Non Muslim cannot be shaheed actually you do have your own term which some Indians told me before around here but I forget how it is pronounced.

As i said in this thread before "Shaheed"is used to mention a person who laid down his life for his country....... this has been used irrespective of the religion caste...... There may be a religious meaning to it... But we dont use it in that terms...

.
If authentic then a very humane gesture by the IA pilot but why would the parents of the deceased want to release the letter to media while they are suppose to be in moaning for their loss.

You cannot butcher the meaning of a word to suit you especially one that has religious connotations, your soldiers were no shaheeds.

Now you have an option of suing entire India in an international court...... ( i am done with reasoning on this subject )

seems to have taken on top of the coffin (from the back ground of that pic).... some one on air port may have taken, i don think the parents have anything to do with publishing this....

Martyr is Christian concept, why do you guys use it ?

Shahid and martyr are similar but the Muslim connotation is different martyr would be the closest in terms of meaning. Shahid does not literally mean martyr it means witness.

Even a martyr means witness.

.
Does courage have a religious overtone ?

Since you insist on finding fault in its usage, there are more followers of Islam in India than in Pakistan and we do not have a problem calling a martyr by any name.

Yeah and Indian Muslims can be shaheeds not every tom dick and harry.

.
Only in India .. According to 1.7 billion ppl it means ultimate sacrifice in the righteous path..
Anyways carry on.

Which is what it means in India too. Unless you're saying that only muslims know what 'reigfhteous path' means, then you're a moron....

Martyr - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

: a person who is killed or who suffers greatly for a religion, cause, etc.

: a person who pretends to suffer or who exaggerates suffering in order to get praise or sympathy

: a person who suffers greatly from something (such as an illness)

LOL.

Every word has it's origins somehwre. Languages adopt them. Now it just means 'sacrifice'.

LOL no it does not if the word is still in use you cannot just change the meaning to suit you. Tomorrow I say Up now means down how stupid I am going to look? That is how you guys look when you use our term on things that do not apply.
