In 2007, an article published in Kanwa Defense Review in which they praised Pakistani MBT developments. The Chinese were very impressed with Rehbar Battle Management System and many other features incorporated in Al Khalid. Now we are moving further with Mark 1. I suspect that the VT-1A MBT is the Chinese version of our Al Khalid. Just an opinion

First batch of Al Khalid Mark-1 will be inducted in 2010 with all the features previously mentioned including electrically operated turret and Sagem Matis third generation thermal imager. Likely date is between April-June.

I am sorry bro but I don't have the link but saw the news on sama tv three days ago. Minister of Defense production Abdul Qayyum Jatoi stated that the next batch of Al Khalid to be inducted in Pak Army will be of Mark 1 standard. The production is going smoothly in HIT and all the new tanks from here onwards will be Mark 1 standard.

No news yet, but it may in future as it will need best of what is available. There were rumors of may be some joint tank cooperation in future, but noting confirmed.

The fire control system on Al Khalid Mk-1 is french origin coupled with Sagem Matis third generation thermal imager, rahbar 2 ibms, improved autoloader (9 rounds instead of 8), more powerful ballistic computer (french) and will have new generation of era developed with ukrainian corporation (should be better than current Kontakt 5 already operational on t-80ud). According to Haris Khan of pakdef forum, it was extensively tested against all types of 120 and 125 mm rounds. France also helped in its development as contract was signed in ideas 2008 with Nexter Corporation. Turret is all electrically controlled instead of semi electric in the first model. It will be one hell of a tank ! The matis thermal imager was originally intended only for export models but the performance/price was more than impressive for Pakistan Army to go for it. Cant wait for its induction ceremony!

Some Years ago I read Rumors that the Export Variant of Al-Khalid will be eqippt with an turkish made FCS from Aselsan.

Brother, it is a rumor after all as both domestic as well as export variants will be fitted with the french ones unless the customer wants the Turkish FCS . I am talking about Al Khalid 1. Not sure about Al Khalid 2 though.
