Lol!! this document is bogus. Mcaualy was not even in Britain to address the house on that day. 1835 India was a poor man's place. Even if he had said so later or earlier,everyone would have made a hell laugh of him.

Edit: In 1835, an Englishman did not speak the way Macaulay's supposed speech was delivered. Even a regular sentry spoke with much better construction of words and fine vocabulary.

Well if you look at the hygiene difference today between Hindus and Muslims you can get a small idea. In India more than half the population has no toilets and defecate on the streets under non Muslim control. I personally would never visit India no offense meant but their hygiene makes my stomach turn. I have seen many videos.

Again why do people put so much emphasis on religion. It was the culture and the moral values that stunned the British. Religion is only a part of it, and back them as it is now Hindus and Muslims made majority of the population, so not just one religion.
